Today is the world television premiere of your film Traffic Signal on Max with me, Mona Singh, as your new anchor on Extraaa Shots. Would you like to say something?
Yes, definitely. I have been a great fan of yours since the Jassi... days. You are a good actress and dancer and am sure you will make a great anchor too. Watching you take us through the film and having you anchoring Extraaa Shots is indeed going to be a pleasant experience.
What actually drove you into making this film?
After making two films (Page 3 and Corporate) that were focused on the high society, I thought of making something for the common man. While walking down to Siddhivinayak from my house, I used to observe the traffic signals and how the beggars, eunuchs, paper sellers, all would run at the red signal and that got me started on thinking about the concept of this film.
Any research done for the making?
Yes, this is a big industry by itself. My team has done research for six months. During this course, we met different people and studied the industry.
Any real life characters in the film?
Yes, we did have some real beggars and eunuchs working in the film. I wanted to give it that real feel and authenticity. They were pretty happy to take on their real-life roles on to the reel life. They have not only acted in the film, they have also dubbed for us.
Do you watch films on TV?
Yes, sometimes when I get the time. I mostly surf channels because I want to know what is going on in the
entertainment industry.
How many days did it take to shoot the film and were all the signals made-to-order sets or some of them were even real ones?
It took us 60 days to shoot the entire film. We had over 60-70 characters in the film. As for the signals, some of them were sets and some were shot on actual signals in Mumbai. We have shot at signals in Bandra, Prabhadevi and Worli.
