Do Actors Have A Say???

Hi!

I wanted to know if any of you have any idea whether actors have a say in where the script is taking them? I mean could Mona have put her foot down & let the directors know that she is not happy with the way they have taken Jassi's character & totally ruined it. If no, then i see no point in blaming Mona the actor.
