"Sir will be with you any moment, enjoy the party!" the PA of Mr. Khanna shows them their way to the grand hall where the party was going on in full swing.
The waiters bring refreshments for them, Siddharth hands the glass of Minty Lemonade to Roshni as he knew those were her favourite.
"Gaurav has an amazing place!" Roshni exclaims looking all around and then notices Siddharth.
"Cheer up, Siddharth we don't want our clients to misunderstand this.. They might think you are not happy with the Khanna's deal!" she holds his arms making him look at her.
"Do you want to sit down? are you tired?" he asks ignoring her.
"I am fine, Siddharth." she was starting to get annoyed with him.
Before Siddharth could say anything further, Gaurav joins them.
"Siddharth!!" he gives a bear hug to him and then turns towards Roshni,
"Aha the lady of the hour!" he takes her hand and pecks a kiss on them.
"What's this?" he looks at her drink and takes it away, "Waiter get the champagne bottle"
Roshni and Siddharth were smiling courteously at him, inside they just wanted this parade to end and go back home.
They had flown back to India especially for this party, as Gaurav had requested them and to attend several meetings regarding their deal. Siddharth's presence was not required much as Roshni was the Business Head, but he had refused to let her go alone.
Gaurav pops open the champagne, and pours them in glasses handing one each to Siddharth and Roshni.
"I.. I don't drink.." Roshni started,
"It's just one glass Roshni to celebrate our success!" Gaurav insisted.
"Cheers! May we be more successful in our future endeavours!"
The trio clink their glasses together, Siddharth gulps down his drink in one go and hands the empty glass to Roshni. He takes her champagne filled glass and gulps that one down too, before Gaurav could notice what happened.
"It was my father's dream to open up a school in our ancestral village, and provide an education that he was deprived off when he was young! I am so happy today, that finally I can look at my dad in his eyes and say - We did it!" he looks at his father who was sitting on a wheel chair at a distance and smiles at him.
"I had approached several companies and everyone declined the idea of my project - but thanks to Mrs. Roshni Khurana, who believed in me, my project, my dream that I can proudly say that dreams do come true! All you need is hard work, determination and Roshni!" he chuckles looking at her.
Roshni smiles at him but a nervousness creeps up on her face when she realizes that Siddharth had slipped his hand around her waist, pulling her closer to him.
"What are you doing?" she asks coyly.
"Nothing, just appreciating you in a different way.." he flashes his teeth at her.
"You are drunk!" she whispers back, trying to get away from him.
"Not much, just a bit." he replies, holding her more tightly than before.
"Siddharth... this doesn't change anything."
She keeps her hands on top of his, slowly removing his hands from her waist. He pouts, as she takes a step away from him, he keeps staring at her not hearing a single word of Gaurav's speech.
On the other hand, she was trying hard to concentrate on the speech but his constant immovable stare on her face was driving her nuts. Finally she turns around and faces him,
"Stop it! Stop it, right now!" she mumbles harshly.
"Stop what? I didn't even do anything!" he raises his hands up in the air in defense.
"Stop staring at me." she smacks him on his arms.
"I can't help it if my eyes find you attractive" he smiles and continues, "Tum kya chahti ho main dusri ladkio ko taaku?" he leans near her.
"Tumhe jo karna hai karo Siddharth, who am I to stop you?" she was angry.
"Who am I? Huh? Biwi ho tum meri.." he pulls her by her waist making her collide on his chest.
"Biwi? Wow. Yaad hai tumhe?" she says sarcastically.
"Roshni, you know how much I love you." He looks intently at her.
"I said stop it! Yeh puppy look wala face, these innocent eyes.. please! You know I fall for it every time!" she whines like a kid.
"Not every time." He stiffens, as sadness filled his eyes.
Everyone starts clapping, as Gaurav's speech had ended - Siddharth and Roshni who were lost in their own bubble of emotions come back to reality.
A light music starts playing in the background, Gaurav walks up to them. He introduces them to some of his guests and his family, Roshni avoids meeting Siddharth's eye the entire time after their conversation.
After dinner was done, Roshni starts coughing. Siddharth panics,
"Roshni are you ok? Oh god. I.. I will get water for you, wait here." he hurries to get water.
By the time he returns, he sees that Gaurav was with her and Roshni's cough had stopped.
"Siddharth, Gaurav had brought some water.." Roshni looks at him.
He sits down beside her, keeps her hands on his thigh and says, "You are fine?"
"Yes, it was nothing. I just choked on food." she assures him, keeping her hands on top of him and pressing them slightly.
"Siddharth relax, it was harmless!" Gaurav laughs, Roshni and Siddharth fakes a smile at him.
"So, next week is the school opening and you guys are coming right?" he asks them in excitement.
"Gaurav, I thought that was going to be handled by you... what will we do there?" Siddharth shifts uncomfortably in his seat.
"I know that Siddharth, but it will look good for the school that the owners are present there. It will not only increase the goodwill, but also gain media attention that the leading businessman Mr. Khurana is personally attending the inauguration." He pleads them.
"Gaurav, but we are on a tight schedule here. We are supposed to leave for London day after tomorrow." Roshni sighs.
"It's just a week. I know it's too much to ask for, after all that you have done for me."
"It's nothing like that Gaurav, we are just.." starts Siddharth.
"I know.. I know you are new parents, and you have too much in your mind.. trust me I'm not liking it when I'm asking you to spend time on these parties and meetings when all you want to do is go back home to your kid.. I feel guilty!" he says shaking his head.
Meanwhile, Siddharth and Roshni were busy looking at each other, with each word that came out from Gaurav's mouth Siddharth had started feeling uneasy. He didn't know what to say, he didn't know how to react. He was feeling guilty, but he discards that feeling from his mind. He was not allowed to feel guilty.
"Gaurav listen-" Roshni gets interrupted by him.
"I am sorry Roshni. It's for our own benefit. I will not force you, just want you to give time and think about it." he replies sadly.
"Ok, we will think about it and let you know." she said.
"And now changing topics, can we have a dance of the happy couple?" he smiles looking at them excitedly.
"No, I don't dance." Siddharth refuses at one go and indulges in deep thought.
"I want to." Roshni replies staring at him.
"Umm.. in that case, do you mind?" Gaurav asks permission for a dance with Roshni.
"Huh, no.. not at all" Siddharth and Roshni say at the same time.
"Well, main toh Roshni se puch raha tha but it's good to know ki after party black eye nahi milegi mujhe" he teases Siddharth.
Roshni laughs and says, "Trust me you will know when he will mind!"
"Like she said.." Siddharth smiles looking at her.
Gaurav and Roshni were dancing on a peppy number, Siddharth was quietly observing Roshni. The happiness in her face had him smiling like a lunatic that after sometime his jaw had started hurting! He loved that woman more than his life. He could do anything just to be with her, he could leave everything just to keep her beside him.
A slow number starts playing and that was his queue. He gets up and walks up to Roshni.
"I guess it's my turn now?" he asks Gaurav, who happily leaves them alone.
"I thought you don't dance" she asks him as he grabs her waist and pulls her closer.
"It's our song, I had to come.." he smiles at her.
Roshni listens to the tune as it picked up its tempo and she realizes that "Tu Mera Humdard" was playing.
"Do you remember our date on the cruise?" he asks her.
"Offcourse I do." she puts her hand around his neck.
"Sasumom ne woh mauka bhi nahi choda tha disturb karne ka.." he chuckles remembering that day.
"Haan, aur jo tum mujhe irritate kar rahe the when I was talking to her..."
"Irritate?!" he pulls her closer to him once more, "Pyaar kehte hai usse baby..."
"Life was so much simpler that time.." she sighs sadly.
"I was thinking..." he started and she looks at him.
"What?" she inquires.
"How about we take a time out? I...I miss you.. and you know I can't live without you!"
"Time out? You want me to forget about everything and pretend everything is okay?" she asks him.
"Yes. I love you, Roshni. I know you love me too. Waqt hai ya nahi kya pata? Main ladna nahi chahta. I have missed you. I have missed my wife, my love...my life." he begs her.
"Siddharth, you know that what you are asking me to do sounds ridiculous? You are high. Tum kuch bhi bol rahe ho.." she starts to move away but he twirls her and makes her collide on his chest.
"I don't care whether the idea is sane or insane, I just know that I want you even if its for some time.." he says huskily in her ears.
It was after months that they were so close to each other. Roshni had been craving for his love, his care, his affection the entire time. Now when she was getting it, he wanted her to be on a Time Out. Like seriously? It was bizarre. His breath on her ears, was driving her crazy.
"I will think about it" she mumbles in her trance.
"Thank you, baby! Finally kisi baat pe toh agree kia.." he smiles nuzzling his nose in her collarbone making her feel ticklish.
Roshni looks at the time in his wrist watch and panics, "Oh god! Itna time beet gaya, I need to go home! He must be howling for me now!" she leaves Siddharth's hold.
"Come, let's go home." he says in a flat monotone.
Limousine
"Hello? Mom? I'm so sorry, I didn't look at the time! Is he..? Ok.. I will be there like in 10 minutes!" she keeps her phone shut and fidgets.
"Don't worry, sab theek hoga!" he says.
"Like you care!" she was annoyed.
"I do! Woh mera bhi beta hai!" he was trying to control his anger.
"Just stop it! You don't care about anything in this world!"
"I do care about you! Dammit!" he punches hard on the seat beside him in frustration.
They were going down the same road a hundredth time now.
The driver rolls down the partition window and says, "Where to Mr. Khurana?"
"Khurana Mansion!" he said.
"Cuff Parade!" she shouts.
"I thought you were in a hurry to reach home." he says sarcastically.
"I am, but you are drunk and angry! I don't want you to hurt yourself. So better I drop you home myself." she tries to calm down.
"I am fine. I am not going to hurt myself like I have promised you. So, Khurana Mansion it is." he gets a grip on his emotions.
The rest of the ride was in silence. Finally they reach, Khurana Mansion. Before Roshni could leave, Siddharth says - "Think about that time out. And tomorrow we have a meeting with Saxena at 11 in the morning so I will come to pick you up by 10.30."
"Fine." She opens the door slightly.
"Goodnight, Roshni." He says sighing aloud.
She leaves without responding to him. Siddharth waits till she gets inside the building and the lights of her bedroom switches on. Then he asks the driver to take him home, "Cuff Parade"
I know you must be confused, but in the next 2-3 chapters in Flashbacks i will reveal what happened between them! 😃
