Part 11

Siddharth gets up to leave, Roshni takes his hand immediately,

"I will miss you, will you come tonight? I want my cuddly cushion with me." And she makes a puppy face.

"Aww..I am so sorry baby but I have some important work to get over with. I will come tomorrow, pakka! Cushion kya, whatever you say I'll become that for you." He gave her a flying kiss, takes the files from the table and turns to leave.

"Who let this killer come inside? Kahin firse toh.. Roshni.. are you ok beta?" asked DD.

"Aunty, I wanted to stop him but Roshni said it was ok.. so I didn't say anything.. I got tensed so I called you up." said Yash trying to calm DD.

"Yash Beta, thank you for calling me, I will just call the police. I will not tolerate this man near my daughter anymore." said DD angrily, and she takes out her phone.

Roshni was furious hearing her mother say this. Her insides were shouting and screaming at her mother that how could she say such things to her husband. She wanted to protect Siddharth from everyone, she wanted to run away with him... and then she looked at him.

Siddharth was hurt hearing these words from sasumom. He had heard her call him names, a numerous number of times. But this was different, she was harsh and she was convinced that he could have tried to kill Roshni. Siddharth looked down, as he didn't know how to react and remembered the moments where DD had accepted him as her Jamai. Roshni's eyes were filled with water now, she controlled her emotions and said,

"Mom, please calm down. He just wanted me to sign some papers that were required for the mutual divorce agreement. He was just leaving. You don't need to call the police. I don't want things to be complicated anymore."

Roshni's words had broken Siddharth's reverie. He held his emotions tight and faked a smile at his sasumom and indicated that Roshni was telling the truth.

"What papers? Let me have a look. God knows what he made you sign, waise bhi iski family ki purani aadat hai papers se logo ka sab kuch cheen ne ki." DD walked towards Siddharth.

Roshni got scared because she knew that she had lied and this time it would be difficult to make her mother understand. DD tried to take files from Siddharth's hand, but Siddharth swayed the files back and forth stopping her from taking it from him.

"Siddharth, stop this childishness."

"Oh, don't be mischievous sasumom! It is bad manners to read someone else's files. Your daughter is an adult now and I am her husband, yet.. And this is something private between us. Am I right, Roshni?" he winked at her in front of everyone. Roshni felt embarrassed and didn't know what to say. So she just nodded a yes. Siddharth gives a salute to his sasumom like he usually does and walks out of the room.

"Mom, please relax. He won't come here anymore. Trust me." she said to calm her mother.

DD relaxed and left the matter. She sat down beside Roshni. Yash and DD engaged in a light-hearted conversation talking about work. Roshni pretended to listen, but she was actually remembering the days where DD used to disagree with her in every decision. How they used to quarrel over the same issue again and again without any resolution. She reminisced those times where she yearned for her mother's love. She closed her eyes and thought; "Thank you Siddharth, I will always be grateful to you for what you have done. It wasn't easy for you and you suffered a lot but you never gave up on this relationship. I don't deserve you Siddharth.. I gave you so much of heart break. I am very selfish, I left you and then I returned back to you because I couldn't live without you. But I promise you Siddharth that this time I will make it up to you, you deserve more. I will make everyone see what you truly are. I love you so much." And she falls off to sleep.

She wakes up around midnight. Her leg was numb. She stretched her legs a bit, and felt a little better. She gets water from her side table and notices a note. It said that DD had gone home for the night and Bablu Chachu was in the hospital. Her cellphone was also kept on the table if she needed anything. She instantly dialed the number and awaited the response.

"Roshni? Is everything ok? Why aren't you sleeping? You should take rest."

"I didn't call you up to listen to your lectures. Where are you? Can't you come?"

"Arre, look at the time baby! I am in office, had an important meeting with European clients today, Dad had insisted I work on it. Sorry I can't come today I have to prepare a presentation by tomorrow morning." said Siddharth. He sounded exhausted and drowsy.

"Oh, I am so sorry! Siddharth it is so late now. Why don't you rest? I don't want you to fall ill. Did you have dinner?"

"No, I have to complete this now so that I can come and meet you early in the morning, warna tumhari mom aur humri sasumom ki dil ki muraat ki main jail mein rahu, puri ho jaegi!" he said jokingly.

"No Siddharth you will eat right now while we are talking or else I know you will not have food. Now get up and go have your dinner."

"Yes, madam!"

He opens his tiffin and sees that his mother had prepared his favourite dishes for him. He gets sad.

"What happened?"

"Mom has made my favourite dishes, I don't understand Roshni if she loves me so much then why can't she understand my point of view? I tried explaining her so many times but it was just a waste of time. She has become so adamant and I.. I never thought that my mother would ruin my life like this.."

"Siddharth...Please.. don't be sad. I know things are all messed up right now. But it will get sorted out. Yes, mom is angry but she is angry with me and my family, not you. She loves you Siddharth and... once she gets to know the truth I am sure she will be remorseful and then you have to be there for her, she will need your kind support...please don't give up on her Siddharth. Now please eat,baby"

Siddharth eats the food and converses with Roshni asking her about her day. Roshni complains to him that she is tired in the hospital, she hates the food and the medicines, and she hates it how she has to pretend that they are getting a divorce.

"You hate a lot of things, baby.. acha now let me tell you what I love.." he said playfully.

"What?" she asked shyly as she thought he would take her name.

"I just love... no.. actually I am in love...with these European clients! Oh, Roshni you have to see them, they are soo beautiful and hot.. their hair and their eyes.. it's just mesmerizing.. firangio ki baat hi alag hoti hai..biwi bhi inke saamne paani kum lagti hai.." he said teasingly and laughed.

"Really? Then why did you marry me? You could have married a foreigner when you were in London! Meri life kyu barbaad ki yaar, even I could have married Yash, he is such a sweet guy and he loves me a lot!"

"Kya yaar you just spoiled my entire dream uss langur ka naam leke, whenever I see his face I feel like punching him! And tumko bada shauk charha hai usse shaadi karne ki.. jao jao kar lo... puppy ki tarah ghumta rehga.. tumhare nahi tumhari mom ke peeche! Sasumom ka chamcha!" he said.

"How rude, Siddharth.." and she laughed. They continued with their conversation for a long time until Roshni fell asleep.

"Roshni? You there? So gayi kya? I love you, baby.. have a good sleep. Everything will change tomorrow, I promise." He cuts the phone call.

Siddharth reaches home early morning. He was very tired as he was awake the entire night working on the presentation. Siddharth drinks water and he gets a call. He picks it up,

"Yes, Mr.Mehta? Did you get the information? Oh, so he works in construction? Then lets meet him today! I can't waste another day for this. Yes, please arrange everything. Will meet around 12pm? Okay, Mr.Mehta."

He needed to get some sleep now as he would have a hectic day. It was the day his plans would be in action and Rajveer would be exposed finally. He turns and leaves to go inside his room. A shadow overhears his conversation and hides itself behind the pillars.

This one was a bit long. I hope you guys liked it. Just wanted to ask one question that are you guys ok with the pace of the story? Or do you think it is very slow? 😃

I'm okay with the pace...it is going lovely...and I enjoy reading it especially when I see a new part is up I cannot wait to see what happens...so take your time
