Aanya is a Russian/German name. Its short for Anastasia the Russian Princess in Russia.

You will find lots of books with the same princess named Anastasia.

oh yes sorry 😳 ..... currently I am watching 2 serials.... JLH has Anaya and Ek Ladki Anjaani Si has Ananya.... so got bit confused 😳 .... sorry again!!

I am not sure, but my guess would be that aanya must have originated from anya (or somilar word), which over time became aanya.

I can not be a hundred percent sure; but I am pretty sure that Aanya means innocent...I remember reading up on it a while back...but like I said it was a while ago and I can nor be a hundred percent sure
Maybe if you wrote to zee and asked the producers the screenwriter should know...
