'I am not telling you that!' answered Ragini when Nachiket asked her with whom she had spent the day.
'Excuse me?'
'Excused!' said she, taking in a spoonful of her food, while continuously giving him a wide smile.
Nachiket looked at her. Ragini kept on eating, the smile not leaving her face for even a second. Almost a minute had passed when Nachiket spoke finally, scaring Ragini with his loud voice.
'You were with Aagham!' He stated, like it was the silliest sentence he had ever uttered.
Ragini's smile faltered. 'Tumhe kaise pata laga?'
Nachiket shook his head while a small smile made its way on his face. 'Apna chehra dekho. Saaf bata raha h ki tum Aagham ke saath thi!'
The smile returned on her face.
Nachiket continued, 'You've got your 'mother' smile ON. Bacchon ke saath time spend karne ke baad hamesha yahi smile hoti h tumhare chehra pe' said he, eating his food again.
'Aagham hi kyun?' asked she.
Nachiket didn't look up from his plate while answering, 'Ranbir was with me and I called Aarav to ask for you. Suhani didn't know where you were either. So, Aagham!' said he, finally looking up at her.
Ragini was right. He was frantic and had called everyone to know where she was. She was feeling bad about teasing him, but the next moment, she didn't.
'Now you've got your 'wife smile' on,' said Nachiket, making Ragini stop smiling instantly. Ragini had been lost in her thoughts and realised she was staring at him. She took another spoonful of food as a way of distraction, 'Wife smile, mother smile..Kuch bhi bolte rehte ho tum!'
'Now you've lost your 'wife-smile' because you've heard Aarav's footsteps on the stairs' said Nachiket, and on cue, Aarav opened the front door.
'Hey Maa, Dad!' said he and went to the store room, telling them on his way that he was looking for his old Carrom Board.
'Now you are slowly getting your wife-blush back!' whispered Nachiket, continuing with his commentary on her facial expressions.
'Pagal ho gae ho tum, Nachiket!' said Ragini slowly, amazed at his observations. Nachiket shrugged and grinned in response.
'Dad, hum Carrom khelne lage h. Aap aaoge?' asked Aarav, coming into the kitchen, holding the board under his arm.
'Kyun Ranbir nahi aaya abhi?' asked Nachiket.
'Aaya tha. But then Tanya called. She couldn't find any cab. So, he is going to drop her at her hostel' explained Aarav.
'Tum log start karo. Hum aate h,' said Ragini, before Nachiket could speak.
After Aarav left, Nachiket turned to Ragini, 'Why do I think it was Ragini-the wife's words spoken from Ragini-the mother's mouth?'
Ragini was smiling and shaking her head, 'You've lost it!' She continued, 'I have to show you something. Help me with the dishes first,'.
