A few days passed and Ragini was completely healed. The rest and care had definitely accelerated her recovery process. Her doctor was pleased with her condition and that was exactly what Ragini wanted to hear. She was itching to go back to work. Never before had she been away from work for so long. But Nachiket was hearing nothing of it. He was afraid she would exhaust herself and get sick. It was late night and Ragini was trying to convince Nachiket to take her with him to Hospital the next day.
'Ragini, maine bol dia na ek baar. Tum abhi nahi ja rahi Hospital' said Nachiket, exasperated. They had been having this conversation for more than half an hour now and he was tired. He closed his laptop and kept it on the side table. He was trying to read an article. But he realized he wasn't going to be able to finish it.
'Par kyun? Doctor said that he was happy with my recovery. I am absolutely perfect now, Nachiket' pleaded Ragini.
'He only said he was happy with your recovery. He didn't say you could go back to work' said Nachiket. He was trying hard to keep his voice under control. He didn't want to upset her but she was testing his nerves then.
'Oh god, Nachiket! You are being impossible!' exclaimed Ragini, 'That means the same thing. If I have recovered and am well, I can go back to my routine!'
'I am not taking any chance with you, Ragini. You have been through a major accident. Operated TWICE! You don't know it right now, but you'll be exhausted within hours. As a doctor, I recommend 2 more weeks of no work.' said Nachiket, firmly. Ragini's face fell. He softened his voice when he spoke next, 'Please, Ragini. I don't want to fight over this,' he continued, stroking her cheek.
'I don't like being manipulated like this. Don't give me these puppy dog eyes,' said Ragini, pointing her finger at his eyes. Nachiket chuckled.
'Why don't you go and see Nishi tomorrow? Go out with Dimpy or Pam for lunch? See how much your body can take it? You'll know what I'm talking about' said Nachiket, lying back on the bed.
