"Abhi tumhara favorite gaana suit kar raha h humpar," Ragini said, making circles with her fingers on his chest.
"Kaunsa?"
"Zindagi.. Kaisi h paheli haae.. kabhi ye hasae.. kabhi ye rulae.." Ragini sang his favorite song, making Nachiket laugh.
"Ruk kyu gai? Poora gao," Nachiket insisted. Ragini smiled and finished the song.
"Ab tumhari baari. And please, koi naya gaana mat gaana," Ragini said, making a face. Nachiket laughed and brought her closer. She settled back with her head resting on his chest.
And when he started singing, she looked up at him with such a wide smile that Nachiket couldn't help but match her smile with his own. He had started singing Kishore Kumar's 'Ye Raatein Ye Mausam'
"Nachiket please, I beg you. Don't stop singing. And sing it twice. I haven't heard this song in years,"
"Mujhe sirf 1 line hi aati h Ragini. I just wanted to see your expression," Nachiket said, and Ragini's face fell.
"Aise chehra mat banao. Abhi dekh lete h na," he said, picking his phone from the table.
"Phone ki screen bahut choti h. Play it on the laptop,"
They settled down together on the bed, and watched the old hindi retro hits for the next two hours. From Kishore Kumar to Mohammad Rafi and from Lata Mangeshkar to Asha Bhosle, they played their favorites and stopped only when the physical need for sleep became was unbearable.
Under the sheets, they were facing each other. Out of habit, Nachiket tucked the lock of her hair behind her ear.
"We did this after 20 years I guess," Nachiket murmured.
"Hmm.. I was pregnant with Nishi and was having one of those mood swings," Ragini said, smiling back on the memory.
"Yes. And Nachiket Khanna lost to Kishore Kumar that day," Nachiket whispered, a smile playing on his lips.
"I am going to make the kids listen to these songs too. I don't like the noise that they call music,"
Nachiket smiled and kissed her nose, "Good luck with that!"
