Slowly, he came to stand behind her. Putting his hands on her shoulders, he again called her name softly. But the reaction wasn't what he had expected.
Ragini turned around, and with misty eyes and rage in her voice she started speaking. "First you hide the fact that you were unwell. Then you go out with me and spend the whole day eating out. You get a headache and then you forget to take your medicines. Clearly, you think, whatever happens to you, it won't affect me at all. And that can only happen if I don't affect you at all which means you don't love me anymore,"
Nachiket was backed up against the wall and Ragini was standing before him with tears streaming down her face and a trembling hand, whose finger was pointed at him.
Nachiket remained quiet and gave Ragini the time to control her overwhelming emotions. When he spoke, his voice was slow but firm, "Why I don't tell you certain things is not because I think it won't affect you. It is because I believe it will affect you more than it affects me. And I can not see you in pain,"
Ragini wanted to be angry. She wanted to shout at him. But she couldn't. Not after what he said. So, when she spoke, Nachiket had to strain his ears to listen. "I am not as weak as you think I am. I am terrified of losing you and my kids. And when you hide such things from me, my biggest nightmare flashes before my eyes. And I.. I.. " she choked up on her words and Nachiket took her in his arms instantly. And there, she cried and he soothed her with all the right words. They stayed like that for a long time, wrapped in each others arms.
"Ragini mujhe lagta h, abhi background music mein tumhara favorite gaana chalna chahiye, suit karta h hampar,"
Ragini chuckled and without looking up from his chest, asked him which song he was talking about. And then he sang, "Itna karo na mujhe pyaar... Saathiyaa.. Ye tune kya kiya.." Ragini looked up at him and laughed at his adorable attempt of singing her favorite song. And then she pulled him down and kissed him.
