Indi,
"star plus only cares about money"Do you know about US show "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" show which earlier aired on Fox, and when that channel cancelled it in mid 2018, another channel NBC picked it up owing to its huge craze in youth and on internet, even though it was low on TRP (It's a lovely comedy series). The show got renewed within days by another channel and till date the cast and the crew says that it is the love of the fans for their show that it got saved and renewed. This immediately brought me memory to our very own IPKKND and the crazy things we fans did way back in 2012!Yes, I do know that "Star Plus" is a commercial channel, thinking only about money. But why can't they just understand the love the show has and respect it? If they did good hard work on the script with such a stellar cast, wouldn't it be beneficial to them at the end? May be it is too much to ask from an Indian Hindi Soap Opera TV Channel. Let's leave it at it."in september 2011, four months after starting, ipk breached the high trp numbers of colors' balika badhu"So it was in September'11 it topped the charts? I knew the show was one among the top rated shows (who could forget the frantic forum waiting for every Friday to check with TRP and also ranking in the forum, as though we were waiting for our own report cards for our exams! 😆), but I didn't know that it crossed Balika Vadhu. i think it did... i remember it being mentioned...So September'11 it was, the episodes where slowly the dynamics between every character was changing, some pace in the show also with respect to Shashi and Garima also shifting to Delhi, the first time "Sorry, I'm really sorry" from ASR!But with the changing dynamics, one could also clearly see the channel interference like you said.In October we see Khushi slowly falling for ASR, Shashi's increasing doubt on Shyam, Payal-Akash's budding love story, all handled pretty well. And in Novemer'11 we have the beautful Diwali and another dynamic change in the story, again handled decently, but towards the end of November, when we were in the middle of this "punishment" by ASR to Khushi to arrange his engagement because she declares "humein koyi farakh nahi padtha!" we suddenly go to Payal-Akash's wedding out of blue, when in reality, it was too soon for both the characters to take such a big step. May be the channel was getting antsy, wanted the wedding to take place and wanted Arnav-Khushi to fall for each other with this wedding background, because "Indian TV pe aisa hi hona chanhiye" maybe! 😕Then we go through the heartbreak, and the wrecking has already begun to the show!"alongside, gul was beginning to lose interest, new show qubool hai on the cards, with her favourite karan singh grover"Sure Gul created the basic concept of the show, a "star-crossed" "Mills&Boons" type love-story, but I don't understand why she is given any credit beyond that point. To me it was the initial writers Ved Raj, Sudhir Kumar, screenplay from Gautam Hegde and the other creative team who should be given a bigger credit in beautifully crafting these amazing and real characters and making the epic initial episodes which we never saw in any Indian TV soap. true. i particularly like hitesh kewaliy's work, he and ritesh x wrote the dialogues. yes, a very talented team, including directors. gul held onto the idea of what the hero should be it seems, i believe without barun, that same hero would have been interpreted very differently and turned fewer people pagal.I always feel IPKKND was completely apart from the quintessential Indian soap TV we were hearing about till that date, I always felt that IPKKND was way ahead of its time and was in wrong place (Channel) to begin with. wrong channel mainly. and nothing like other soaps, i don't watch hindi or any other shows actually. i love "friends," i enjoy watching some bbc tv serials, but i'm hooked on nothing, and for no other serial have i joined a forum or written "reviews", set up blogs. We never see the lead of any other Indian show saying "Aaj tumhare liye ye office hai, lekin kal se narak hoga, Welcome to hell Ms. Khushi Kumari Gupta" aaargh or leads staying strong with their beliefs, challenging each other at every turn and yet madly falling for each other and feeling that magnetic physical attraction towards each other all the while.Coming back to the point, why was Gul so obsessed with Karan Singh Grover? She didn't work with him before Qubool Hai. Let's leave it at there. i think she did a show with him, tDuring Dec'11 and Jan'12, the show was gaining huge momentum in TV and also making money, may be that is when she thought to move to another concept! She obsessively started Qubool Hai (writing, producing, and also directing), pitched to many channels, but finally closed it with Zee, while all this happened the show, IPKKND which was something completely different from other Hindi daily soaps was made into another quintessential daily soap with the horrific entry of Daadi, unnecessary re-marriage TRP pulling drama, and finally Sheetal. daadi is the point of no return. for me 310 was really the last episode where ipk was still holding out, being itself, despite everything. We, as fans were all supposed to leave it at there, but the magic the show had on us was so intense that jaisa bhi show hai hamari show hai and can't let it go to grounds. We were so determined that Gul also gave up (also because of her increasing involvement with her favourite Qubool Hai and can't take the fuss from fans of IPKKND anymore) at the end.But I must say it is a MIRACLE that we at least had that kind of abrupt ending to the show without further damage because look at her track record for other shows! I don't have to talk much on that! So yeah, it is a huge MIRACLE that it at least happened this way!P.S.: I'm gonna step out for a while now, I will be back and continue with further rants, please bear with me!
