See he had signed the show for a fixed amount of time. By the time his contract had ended, the show had reached its peak in terms of content and popularity, so they retained him for more time. Actually, he had finished Baat Hamari Pakki Hai and very soon after, he got married then after one day started shooting for IPKKND.
Basically, he was working tied to an extended contract that was not ending, on a long daily show that provided no creative satisfaction by the end with the trash they were daaloing in the show after their message: "The show has run its course", he had no time to spend with his family because of late shooting hours and his health started deteriorating by the end (he clearly looked exhausted at the end of the show). Then one day he decided to leave and that is when shit got real 😆 People were creating indescribable magnitude of hullabaloo and Barun finally discovered his popularity at SPL 2012 where most people were cheering for him 😆 To worsen things, Star Plus put an absurd disclaimer that threw him completely under the bus, which said that he left to pursue a career in films hence the show is ending. People started blaming him, especially a certain bunch who seized this as an opportunity to bash him because of frustration that the show was leaving along with him which was a first. Despite the disclaimer, he maintained silence, which is probably why Star Plus somewhere is redeeming itself by promoting his comeback in such a grand way with IPKKND 3. And he actually believed that the show would go on without him because he never thought of anything being bigger than the script.
Then there was an interview where he said that he would not do those long daily shows anymore but is open to web series, finite shows and weeklies. What people aren't understanding (or rather do not want to understand because they need excuses to blame him), is that IPKKND 3 is a finite show, that will last for one year.
What is irking some of them is that, despite them saying with utmost confidence that Gul will never work with an "unprofessional" actor like him and that Star Plus has blacklisted him, they are working with him again in another show called Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, as the face of the show 😎 Gul had a script where only the "unprofessional and oily" actor fit so they'll naturally take their frustration out 😆
Khair, this is a never-ending issue.
All I know is that Barun will ace this character and it's clear that Advay is different from Arnav, Sukhi, Shravan, Haider and all the other characters he played. He explores himself as an actor and this character has new shades 😳
