Note: An Apology

It is with utmost sadness, incredulity and complete disappointment in myself, that I write this note.

For some reason, I am unable to write. Is this what a writer's block feels like? Or is this a result of all the stress that comes from work, home et al in the real world? I don't know.

It's not like I don't know what I want to write about or how the story flows. The scenes keep flashing in my head rather inconveniently at times. It happened today when I was in a meeting. And as I slipped into the river world, I was asked a question on the topic - which I had been paying no attention, of course - I think my cheeks are still red!

Anyway, my blabbers aside, what I want to say I think is that I know what the story is. I know what happens next. I even know what the key milestones in the story are. But when I sit down to write - I just can't find the heart to write more than two lines at a time. (And I hate anything I am able to write - even the two measly lines!)

So I think I am going to do what I never thought I would - what I never wanted to.

I am officially putting A River Runs Through It on hold till I find my ability to tell the story again.

And if (I really hope it doesn't come to this!) I am unable to pick the story back up by Diwali - I will post a short summary of what it was going to be like.

And now what I seem to be saying more than anything else since I started writing this particular tale - I am so so sorry for doing this. You have no idea how disappointed I am in myself, how embarrassed I am to have to write this note.

If you are disappointed - I am so so sorry. For the first time in my life, I am hoping that no one really liked this story much and that my putting a hold on it will not really make much difference to the universe or any part of it.

In the meantime, I want to see if I can at least find the pace to finish the Careless Whispers re-write - I am hoping that will be somewhat easier since it is already written.

I am grateful for all of you who have been so supportive of the River. For now though, the great Indian drought of 2015 has caught up with the River.

Till we meet again - and hopefully with a chapter and not the promised summary - please take care of yourselves and keep reading.

Oh Meera, please don't be so stressed about it. it happens, and am sure you will come out of it soon. take a chill pill. we'll wait for you to get your creative juices flowing. it is a lovely story and it deserves to be written, this year, or the next or the next, whenever you want to take it up again.

Meera, as I wait to read of the reddened cheeks of your Khushi as your Arnav looks at her, I'll get my dose of Meera Magic with Careless Whispers. Please don't stress about putting a temporary hold on the River. The force of the water will eventually finds its way to us :)
