miss ipk?
i just wrote to a friend that ipk and barun sobti, back in 2011, possibly yanked me back to life and gave me something crucial.
i can never explain in mere words how much a television soap, with its inherent tackiness and its many not so deep meaningful aspects, managed to reach right in and hit me hard. awakened me, thrilled me, mesmerised and pleased me, made me connect, made me cry, made me want to laugh uncontrollably, made me want to stay up night after night just for those 22 odd minutes to be aired at 12 midnight.
first telecast... i had to catch it.
how much i felt and learned with ipk. i again traveled back to my inner world, where i am most truly me.
ipk brought me out to this wide vast world of social media. forum, facebook, twitter, did i ever think i'd have 18,000 odd posts on something called an online forum. a simple soap, gave me a reason to access what's out there and see something new.
a few of us watch the show regularly and chat and make stuff. we often refer to the university of ipk, yeah the learning never stops.
nor does the dhakdhaking.
sanaya irani and barun sobti created something i have never ever seen before. nor am likely to again.
all directors and creators and actors of ipk leave an indelible impression, including op. gosh, i love the guy.
nani ji, mami ji (my soul sister), bua ji, di, shashi ji, mama ji, garima ji, lakshmi, hp (in all avatars), jp, ha ha happy ji, bedi ji, akash, la, nk, payal, shyam, jeff, mohan, aman, pam, sim, nasty neighbours, old ladies who love to pinch handsome men's cheeks, the doctor who was also i think preeto's something or the other... really who can one leave out or not like.
and yes, the producers, directors and writers... from gul to nissar parvez, maan singh, lalit mohan, arshad khan, raju singh, ved raj, gautam hegde, hitesh kewaliya, hrishikesh gandhi, janki v, the art directors, the sound people, all those whose names i don't know... they all made a show that will be loved and recalled and kept close to the heart long. perhaps forever... hamesha.
would like to thank everyone who made ipk. even when things started to go haywire... you could feel the art and love of many of them.
that mattered.
when i saw actors doing the best they could even when script was not going where it should... oh that mattered hugely.
398 episodes, of which about 200 are practically flawless. rabba ve, where can we find such a thing. even the 198 which i may be able to point out the flaws in...still had such fantastic dazzle in the heart.
like diamonds... they all had a superior d colour, maybe the cut and clarity varied... but rare and precious they all certainly were.
yes, we will always remember and wait... maybe some day. once again... ipk.
now where's that laad governor of kahin ke and khushi kumari gupta... aaa aaa whose name begins with an a.
