ha ha cyn,

lavender is it? okay... chalega... okay la la lavender it is.

thanks for reading and having fun.

we disagree and yet we lau each other... democracy, democracy, democracy.

you know, i actually do believe in what we all generally refer to as god... ha, gotcha.

but the raizada has a right to be who he is. i defend his right... especially the way he is non god dependent without disregarding the views of his beloved folk... oh the pooja path he endures... me lub this atheist or whatever he is. he believes in something deep and not yet named. i sense that. he is a man of conscience... absolutely salute that.

er, about the marriage. well, if khushi believes they were not married, she should take off that sindoor and mangalsutra.

the without witness but with god and fire marriage also has validity in hindu perspective... we have always had the custom of gandharva marriage with legal sanction being awarded to it and revoked at times... in today's context too, it finds validity if certain conditions are met in specific situations...

there are at least eight ways in which hindus get married... pheras is not the only one. again television talking nonsense. and creating weird homogeneity in an inherently heterogenous nation.

and he did say they are legally married.

that he would remarry her for her happiness shows his love for her. i wonder why khushi let it come to that.

uh huh, if she believes in marriage, then either take off those signs of marriage and go through the whole thing or accept, you consider him your husband no matter what and give respect to your love. i am a bit cussed about this ai ai yo... mainly because it was not khushi who wanted this remarriage but channel did... for trp.

Oh really, tum yehi chahthi thi! My heart broke along with hers. And then she sweetly told her amma that he can't have sweets.
She appears more a woman in that red sari, than the young girl she normally appears. Did she subconsciously dress up for him?
Just been watching the Diwali episodes, can't believe the pathetic levels the story fell later on...
Oh well, thank god for these!

cyn,

let's happily agree to disagree. 😃

by the way the bengali wedding rites that the kayasths follow, we are kayasths and my parents got married that way, do not include pheras or those seven vows. it is still a valid hindu marriage... before narayan (god), fire and samaj (society).
(to complicate matters i abs do not believe in the caste system 😆)

tv is spreading the message of a monolithic india which actually does not exist.

i don't do karwa chauth.

diwali isn't my biggest festival.

my new year is in april not during diwali.

and the gandharva marriage has never ever been completely thrown out of our marriage scape or law... it is in itself an interesting concept of uniting... the man after whom bharatvarsh, india, is named, was born of king dushyant and shakuntalka it is said... theirs was a gandharva marriage.

gandharva marriage is possibly one of the earliest formats of a love marriage. parental and societal consent was not required... just a union of two committed souls.

however.

i totally get your point about her not having a choice in that wedding... but there were many ways to show he is willing to give her that choice and he regrets this forcing of her... i don't think remarriage was the only option.

Educating Cyn on hindu rituals continues...
Where I come from, we do three rounds (pheres) instead of the seven and traditionally we didn't sport sindoor, though these days it is done as part of the marriage ritual even though as far as I know it wasn't there earlier. Probably an adoption of what is considered a widely accepted and practiced hindu ritual. And we don't have a specific chain to symbolize mangalsutra, its actually a small locket which can be worn on any kind of chain.

kizh,

yes yes we all do diff things...

actually bengalis don't have mangalsutra at all.

i remember it used to be worn as a fashion by some. but not as marriage symbol.

we wear something called loha... iron... a simple iron bangle on our left wrist meant to protect the man... of course, you put gold on it in bits or all over, but the ends of the loha are always open... so we have these lovely designs... i wore mine till my daughter was born. after the op, when all jewellery had to go... i just decided not to wear it...

i wore sindoor for a bit ha ha yes, my jewish husband did put it on for me... but after about six months i'd had enough of it.

me lau the look of thali... i think i have one also.

and while on the topic of force during that temple wedding...

i would love to ponder...

if the girl had been someone else... not khushi, would asr have insisted on marrying her?

if the man had been someone else, not asr, would khushi have married him? even if all the force, etc., were there and she was helpless she believed.

i feel this whole thing happened only because there was love.

it was a complex story of feelings ipk told us even if it looked light and frothy often.

and it said... right or wrong is not the issue, when you feel love.

the one thing that lets you go above the mundane, sense life at a different level.

iss pyaar mein sahi aur galat ka koi matlab nahin, bas ek cheez ka matlab hai, ki main hamesha hamesha tumse...

(in this love, correct and incorrect have no meaning, only one thing has meaning... that i alwasy always...)

he said to her in the middle of their stormy post marriage days... when he believed she was having an affair with shyam and she felt terribly treated by him.

and yet she really wanted to know... what what... you with me always hamesha what...

she so wanted him to say the truth... the only truth that mattered...

and he just said it... meaning it... though he pretended they were just words... dialogue.

Okay we agree to disagree but you still didn't answer me...well vaguely...FORCE...

I must say and agree there was love but it was never able to be revealed totally and then there was nafrat and pain and hurt...😡🤢
head off ...UNTIL they fell in love...again I still feel she deserved a wedding!!! DAMMIT! You didn't?😭

Mangalsutra and vermillion worn ...because she believd to be married until it was explained to her by the Raizada and Gupta family traditions ...they did not consider them "legally ritually" married.😕

and then she questioned...she felt she was wrong in their eyes...but no she never took it off MS or V...even during remarriage...all those rituals were already done...bandagement etc...

Now I want to watch it..

Nice discussion indi cynthia...

Cynthia

Yes he indeed married her by force. but with "love".. what ever the way the marriage happened.. she DID consider him her husband. There is some thing called "tri karan suddhi" in hindu philosophy..meaning purity in three ways.. " manasa, vaacha, karmana" .. meaning purity by heart, word and deed...she did consider him husband by heart (by loving him), by word (she announced herself as Singh Raizada the very next day), deed (sleeping on bed with him doesn't matter if they consummated or not, for some one like khushi that wouldn't come casually or for comfort). acceptance in three ways that makes some thing wholesome.. their marriage!

Khushi did have dreams of a big wedding with her rajkumar... but for me the emphasis was/ should more on the Rajkumar part not on the big wedding. Honestly after both of them consider each other to be man and wife, for his family when she is the bahu.. the whole labor of rituals seemed shallow.. as if it is only for every one get a couple of pairs of heavy brocaded clothing and jewelry.

If leads being considered a couple without the whole nine yards of rituals is blasphemy in the tellyland, and a remarriage was always on cards, the story should have been spun a bit differently.. some thing on the lines of their coming together after the hate marriage could have been through the remarriage without any confessions or courtships in between.. and they both rediscovering each other's love as the process proceeds..
