tv would be on only because i had stayed away from india five years, friend who had lived in dubai for some years said i must watch these ridiculous parivar parampara things, i said, why, she said because and guffawed... one thing led to another, indian channels started airing here, i said, koi nahin keep tv on and laugh head off as and when needed... one way of getting my india fix. but honestly, there were months when i would not turn on the television... saas bahu and overdone chaotic serial genre just not my thing, saturation reached in about a week or two, then doh mahina chhutti...

really the only good thing from those days i recall is a brill commercial for nirma which had a typical kahani ghar ghar ki kind of great indian fam dining room scene with the various nanads bahus saases sloshing food on each others over the top zaree wala pure synthetic sarees... a crisis at the table... a complete whizz of a commercial by prasoon pandey, me always liked his work... in fact just now looking for the commercial i find it's by him and of course took a lot of convincing by nirma's long term ad agency... well, good work. always shows, always tells... pity the com is not on yt.

but to come back to the serial saga... hai re nand kissore, what bug bit me that i saw the diwali walk on poolside... life gone crazy since then.

We all have a gala time teasing her about it. This I discovered online last year in May, my mom used to watch, but don't think it affected her the way it did us. Actually, she just watches, there's no intellectual or emotional investment on her part, I guess its just a way of relaxing for her! We're southindians, but she doesn't watch anything in our mother tongue, we call her a snob for that !😆 I was never a indian tv serial watcher, irrespective of language. Actually I should rephrase that, used to watch serials in the good old doordarshan day, they were something else. Have watched a few things for short spurts over the years, but nothing really connected. This has been a bolt from the blue! Struck by lightening!
