as faiqa said somewhere, i don't think the tale of heer ranjha is meant to be about the real people beyond the fact of that desperate and utter love. it is more an allegory sort of thing, a means of delving into the love of the eternal and higher love...

but our star crossed lovers will live happily, bas. no death by truck or channel.
