went to again look at 124.

how many times he turned to look at her with eyes full of a pain that seemed to have no clear dimensions, it was just vast and it enveloped him, and a complaint maybe, how could you.

she couldn't look away. some part of her always knew things.

kya kar rahi ho tum, in that shaken voice. a man feeling ripped, shredded. a girl shattered by his rejection, his engagement... who somehow managed to survive it all and got engaged for the sake of her family, herself hurting so bad inside, yet chin up she carries on, doing her life, her duties.

and in a serial where attention to detail went missing after a point... in 124, there's still a remnant of her cut on the ring finger... as he tries to slip on the ring he must not.

a suggestion, that finger is already taken, long before any ring could get there.

and again, asr had taken things too far, whoever asks someone to hold there ears and say sorry? he was crossing the line as he often did with her, maybe because she broke through too many carefully constructed barriers of his. maybe because his way of loving was to show this right to do as he pleased. not politically correct but strangely exciting.

and again, the acting made sure i forgot his excesses and remembered only his love his feelings his desperate need.

above all, in these interaction a complexity... an understanding of the human mind and heart that is beautiful and thrilling.

just before the kya kar rahi ho tum, after the sudden spin to anger, his best defence, and "khushi!" there was a rousing, almost threatening, background music... a few notes on a sonorous instrument, a horn? strings? reminded me of star wars somehow though it most likely wasn't... but oh it all pointed to the volcano erupting.

a long episode, it had oo la la in it too... from the finer days of ipk. just doesn't wane.

Horizon,😊

Beautiful ,👏

This was the first time when he felt lighter after letting her peep into his vulnerability under the stars and had started talking bringing things normal after Diwali. This is his time to change things but he wants more of her and that desire to touch her is swinging in the wind, singing in the water without knowing her inner war with the acceptance of other's on her which she never felt with him because "he has haq" only he has.

hi mehreen,

good to see you here.

thanks too for your comment on my reply to horizon.

in pink, i love what you say... so you feel that need in him to touch her, to make her feel through things unsaid yet meant every time? and in her that giving of a right even if he is what he is? i think i just wrote in my post above of that heavenly complexity of ipk in these days... a real getting of what makes us... what is instinctive mutual attraction, explosive and inexplicable.

despite his terrible diwali rejection... she couldn't stop feeling things.

and no matter how hard he tried, she was all he longed for.

it was just plain beautiful.

all along they portrayed what will come soon in our episodes... jab jo bura kaha... kiya... koi matlab nahin... if anything matters, it is only one thing, ki main hamesha hamesha tumse...

wo. i am excited about this whole thing, have even asked my friend to sign me up with this party... yeah, one life, gotta do what you wanna do. fail, pass, whatever, it would leave a mark... a reminder of what democracy can and must evolve into if we are to be really democratic. my fingers very crossed. keeping hopes on tight rein... trying to be sensible... actually, not... just hoping something gives and this mad politics of our land abates... me born just 13 years after independence... india means too much... layered, complex, embedded in me... no matter where my life leads.

Ok first of all it seems to me I hurt you some how and that was not my intention at all .I don't know how to say it but that's how I feel and i am not siting anyone in this matter. You personally mentioned so many times and we know as professionals that our lips are sealed and sometimes to keep face value and with the demands of life at work we do and say stuff which has no meaning at all and I will be shocked if any one is going to say that they are truly honest and not sugarcoated at some moments to just divert the situations to get away...impossible as life doesn't run it's coarse that way.I am sorry as I am being honest and not sugar coated here.

God knows what was the inner story yet whatever we saw, heard and read..situation was not passionate for some ppl and didn't he sign for 6 months and didn't he prove his passion beyond that and that is my point when you are at work and you gave your 200% and more after closing that door you have to move on as there is another real life is waiting for you on the other side of the door.Yes he said some stuff which doesn't make sense and at that time made me upset too but that is not the end of the world for him, he has a right to explore new avenues the way he want it and as a show business he is half of our property to demolish , he still has the other half to demolish himself.Definitely he had some tough lessons and hope he learned from these too as life is a challenge...either ASR or whatever , he needs to get to the skin of any character because it is a big challenge for him to show the passion more than ASR if he really wants to be again as a ruler of our hearts because that is like "Chup gaya hai" ...and it will be hard for him to come out of it either as every eye is watching a ASR in him...

I have no problem with LM, he is a wonderful director but as I said Arshad gave us really intense romantic scenes and he is really passionate about his work too.But remember after Payesh wedding LM left and came back during remaariage and all the way end.Story makes any director as Sheetal and other tracks were directed by him , and I didn't feel a thing but was he at fault no absolutely not.

My point was the system not anybody and that system has no meaning for me to waste my time on it...

I apologize to ALL of you here if I hurt anyone's feeling

Arshi, I will start with you since you thought I was upset with you. NOT AT ALL my friend...🤗
I have honestly moved on from what ever hurt I have felt that time with that off screen drama yet feeling my love for this show intact. If there is a time machine and I get a chance to go back, I would n't read a word beyond what was shown on screen.
Yeah, he did give 200% initially but things like when ever asked about whats his fav show and character, never really taking the names of IPK/ ASR, or most of the times being in a rush to finish the shot and go...its like if you go to the actual kitchen, you may not feel like eating in many restaurants. but this all seems to be a part and parcel of the entertainment industry... now I feel like PRO...I may react differently to the whole thing now.. but when the topic comes I have to say what I liked and what I didn't!
No hard feelings at all... all in the game..🤗
thanks always.

you know i have great regard for you... and also over these months, i have come to care for each one of us in a funny kind of way. i know you hurt over barun's attitude to asr. i too wanted to sock it to him when he started the mamr shoot and said silly things like ha! the character... oh anyone can do it.

but i always felt, if a guy didn't love his role, no way could he make it work like this. especially all the fairly corny lines, and those rough brute one... if you don't feel asr, how will you reach for him while portraying what seems to be an arrogant so and so. it was just a thought. i had no clear cut reference to this feeling he might have for asr... though when in a couple of interviews i heard him ponder a scene, i'd get a hint of it.

on his last day at ipk... he gave this interview to telly tadka, i don't know if you saw it... it made me feel this love he had. specific words. he chose a trait of asr's which no one who didn't care would have chosen as the first word to describe him. i am posting it here. i want to see your smile... at this moment, that counts.

some day barun might be really ready to talk about asr without all the negatiive feelings about the show interfering with his thoughts. i felt his loneliness in the final days... much of what he said came from that i feel. plus, many great actors i think find it hard to talk about their characters. it is not an intellectual exercise, it's an emotional almost self erasing one. which is why i would love to see him some day in an actor's studio interview. serious and focused on acting, the relationship of actor and character... i know i knwo, i am nuts, but such is the lau.

yes, even i was disturbed when after the show ended, he seemed to not want to go into asr at all at interviews, always saying things like, yeah, there was also shravan... or whatever, basically no keen feelings for the huge character he portrayed. i felt he was very very very hurt by the end game of ipk... he is a highly emotional person... he can enter the fibre of some fictional character again and again... without being very emotion oriented that again is not possible... my feeling.

and possibly at that point facing all sorts of flack... there is a feeling some of us have that he was pretty much banned from tv for a year... star plus is not the kindest of channels... well whatever, i hope he learned lessons of this world and when he returns, some good would have come of all of this.

i will however disagree with you on lalit mohan. to me arshad was the guy who gave us some of the most stunning things of ipk... he understood the moment. and because he is not publicity oriented, for the longest time no one even knew his name. also i have heard things that lead me to believe... lalit and barun did not see eye to eye. that lack of chemistry may have been responsible for more damage than we know of. happens in the world of entertainment, even elsewhere all the time... everything is such a team thing. here it all clicked and magic happened, i am only grateful for that.

but at this point, all of that is really... bakwas. lalit and barun both are highly talented and deserve to do very well.

we all should meet some day, drink lots of whatever we all like to drink and watch all the fabulous episodes of ipk together. and barun, we don't care if you love our asr or not... we lau him, samjhe aap?

Indi, thanks much for all the kind words ..🤗
Yeah, I saw that clip of Barun.. thanks for sharing again.. "sensitivity".. yes Barun understood ASR like no one.. even his "restrained romantic" is my top most fav description of ASR! YES, I did give him that benefit of doubt that he is only a 20 some thing taking so much bitterness and making tough decisions for himself. But at some level my grief of loosing ASR did turn as disappointment towards him perhaps. I wont deny that. I do wish some day he talks about ASR whole heartedly.. like you said in a "actor's studio" ..(Do they have any analogous show in India) that would be THE DAY for me..
Lalitmohan, I know spoke too much, even he was flaked for that as a publicity stunt.. but he invested time to talk.. respond.. ..he couldn't help talking about ASR, khushi even while his brief stint at QH eventho he wasn't asked , .. yes Arshad Khan did many great romantic scenes...but there was never an opportunity where the scenes LM alone would surfaced.. I am sure he did some ...I know for a fact he did."chodo rehene do.. tum seh nahi pavogi" .. But doesn't matter to me which director did what as directors I liked both of them in their own way..
LM, Barun not meeting eyes, I am not sure, but yes initially it was touch for Barun to be ASR.. or so I felt as I said many times ...even when I didn't know the names of Barun or LM then...may be those expectations brought some friction as it was LM to whom Nissar narrated their initial character/ storyline... AK came a bit later.. but I am sure neither LM nor Barun have hard feelings for each other.. my MOST fav picture post IPK ... was the one from that Nairobi cricket match...the one with Barun with a bat and with LM smiling with him in the back.
Yes we should all meet up .. drink what ever that suits one... and talk to heart's content!
Thank you always!

horoizon,

on that thought of nothing being even slightly diminished in all this time... i was thinking just this afternoon, maybe some day, i'd have worked all this mad love out... it would be gone and a time will come in my life that i would not remember these feelings, these riffs in me... like i have forgotten my many crushes, maybe some day, iss pyaar ko won't be what it is to me.

when i read your note i went to check what i'd written for 124, just adding a bit.

"mujhe kya faraq padta hai?!! mujhe faraq padta hai, dammit, kyunki ..."
i can translate the line all i like, but i'll never catch the tone, the texture, the velvet under the fire, the desperate wanting wrapped in violent words. what difference does it make to me... makes a difference, dammit, because -

and the struggle starts... to finish a sentence.

Indi, that was a perfect capture up on the top...yes SOME day this madness may disappear... I may not feel the intensity of either the love or agony of these two as much... but just the aesthetics of this scene, a man who is till now very uptight letting his guard down a bit or the supreme enactment of haq and then pain... the beauty of private moment.. of many kinds... two people shared .. will remain very much intact!
Yes he didn't need to finish that line... just his grabbing her and admitting to farq was enough...
I see you have put up another write up about this.. heading there..

Awesome post Horizon. This is one of the classic scenes of IPK. I was watching this episode a few days back and found myself replaying from Kitni baar bolni hai. Felt as if I could hear their dhak dhaks loud and clear. A situation which was painful for both of them. ASR would never have thought that his attempts to stay away from Khushi and her thoughts would have such repercussions.
As you said, he was happily, blissfully flirting and playing with his girl, when he realised she wasn't playing anymore. The matter had become tense and soon he gets the penalty for his deeds. Brilliant, outstanding performances by both actors.
Loved, loved, loved what you said above in bold. 😳
Just like Indi, I recalled my poem on the moment too. Here's the link.
I remember everyone had made wonderful reviews on this episode. Worth reading again and again. Thanks for the lovely recall Horizon. 😊

Thanks Durga. there are a wide array of emotions in this scene each worth a zillion bucks...from flirt to concern to guilt (when he realized he caused her tears again) to frustration to plain shock and anguish... it was power packed and superlative..
It was the first time he would flirt actually but unfortunately she is not at all in a frame of mind to play along.. But in the end the shock came too soon for him..
thanks for sharing that poem again..yes these initial epis are worth multiple watches/ reads.
Thanks Durga.
