"Faraq padta hai kyun ki", the one thing I love about IPK most (ok let's make it one of the zillion things I love about IPK) is this...stopping at the "kyun ki", silence and then the music says it all. We always talk about Rabba Ve but the music piece that plays in the background for these "faraq" scenes is beautiful, I sometimes feel those scenes were all the more magical because of the music.

Indi, amazing post, loved "the you who" ! Been reading all the takes and updates but most of times I don't find enough words to say how much I love all your posts and everybody's on BFTP, so let me also stop at the "kyun ki" 🤗.

I can't wait for you to write about the next episode, my favourite ASR-Khushi scene, tell me when it's "hogaya" 😳

aw harichandana,

i was missing you kyunki... 😆😳🤗

thanks for loving the "you who" i was completely zonked by that bit again and again.

you are right, there are these pieces of music that almost seem to talk. did you see after he runs back to the car and as he gets in he hears her voice... then he looks up, slowly on the silence the piano notes come... uff.

the music of ipk actually deserves a study and discussion
. wish i knew a bit more about music and about raju singh... why he chose to write the music the way he did for ipk. the rahul dev burman days are certainly in the feel of asr's signature and many other pieces. also the range of instruments used. have you noticed how the powerful guitar energised asr music at the height of his asr-ness and his slower sadder pensive heart touching music use the same notes... just a different instrument, a different pace and a different emotion.

of course, this echoing of a key set of notes creating layers must be quite common and a technique... but it is done so well.. never feels forced. i realised much later they were the same notes even.

the asr music to my mind is as memorable as the bond one... i am smitten so i am like that only, you know kyunki...

i also like many of the little background pieces... a certain slickness, something urbane... and the rabba vey compositions are just too good.

ho gaya. now what can one say about that. if i get up from my swoon clutching my wrist, i will certainly do a dying i'm dying post on it... will pm and still waiting to write 75 and a smile, and 100 and hug that couldn't be.

Uff...ASR music as sexy as the character and the actor ! My knowledge of the technicalities of music is almost zero but as you say the music of IPK played an important role in the story telling, where words couldn't be put into an emotion, the music did. I really want to know more about Raju Singh, Hitesh Kewalya, the two unsung heroes of IPK.

As for hogaya, @ bold 🤣 !! With that one scene and that one word, hamara satyanash hogaya !

Happy Onam
to all those who are celebrating
😊
Source wiki:
Onam: is a festival celebrated by the people of Kerala, India It is also the Harvest Festival of Kerala with State holidays on 4 days starting from Onam Eve (Uthradom) to the fourth Onam Day. It is also a secular festival, celebrated by people of all religions and castes with the same zeal . The festival falls during the Malayalam month of Chingam (Aug - Sep) and marks the homecoming of the mythical King Mahabali who Malayalees consider as their King. Onam is reminiscent of Kerala's agrarian past, as it is considered to be a harvest festival . Also, it is one of the very few festivals that is celebrated with most number of cultural elements such as Vallam Kali, Pulikkali, Pookkalam, Onatthappan, Thumbi Thullal,Onavillu, Kazhchakkula, Athachamayam etc.

hitesh kewaliya...

quiet, young, sort of unassuming... brilliant at dialogues.

joota hai ya padosi ka kutta, one of khushi's early days dialogues. i might be off by a word or two. but dialogues used to absolutely sparkle most times. and hites/ritesh/team mainly in charge.

the characterisation through dialogues was superb i thought.

asr's hindi and sentence construction is so different fro shyam's, each one's traits are in their words. and of course khushi at times... 😆 eve the mumbling akash, just perfect.

i once saw a lovely interview with him, where he speaks of how dialogues for serials are approached and about mami ji's hello he bye bye, i think he'd heard it somewhere in another context and felt it would suit the character perfectly. unfortunately that video is private now. but some stuff still on the net. there was also a ritesh...

too many retiring, non publicity sorts made this show, including the other director arshad khan. would like to know about the sound editors too... great work... especially given the pace and lack of time. sometime, the sync points take your breath away.

and often that unconventional call on sound. silence where you expect dramatic music, sweetness where you think there will be action or something... not at all like other serials.

of course, lots of improvisation too in dialogues, but the basic structures, punches... etc., from hitesh k i'm sure.
