Arnav's inner turmoil, his turbulence, and his contrition, all you depicted so brilliantly, that made me spell bound. You really can decipher the character of ASR.

Arnav is like a ocean, ocean of intricate feelings, abysmal emotions. His life, his past is so distraught that never let him live in peace. Khushi came to his life, she completed him.But again the remorse, what suffused his life. The misunderstanding what made him brutal to the girl, whom he loved enormously. But she is an forgiving angel, who understands her Arnavji so well. Or moreover her love is myriad for him and so as his. she knows how to pacify him when he is vulnerable.

i can feel, how much you are missing them, same here Indi. ASR and Khushi will dominate our heart for the rest of our life I guess. they are really so empowering!

the pala part cracked me up. Arnav is also adapting his jhalli wife's crazy antics

thanks so much, sohara.

arnav indeed is the ocean. on crooner we used to chat about this often. no idea if he was conceived as such or did barun's acting and our reveling in it bring it about. but this is one convincing large deep character.

yes, khushi is that pearl which brings him out of his own deepest abyss, but i have a feeling he helps her touch her inner recesses too... we all have them, no matter how happy or resolved we may seem. some day, i'd like to sense that and write about it too. she hints at it at the end of ipk... without you, arnav, i wouldn't have understood what's true love.

true love, not too many know how to love like that, huh? ''good to see you, happpy you like.

I am back here finally. 😃 Read the story again and also our red's comments. I liked the ribbon line too. I remember reading that poem years ago. Should go and read once again. As I had said earlier, I was wondering at what point of story is this scene from. My mind was dilly-dallying between the 1st breakdown scene and the car riding scene after ILU Dammit. But soon enough I concluded that this was something else. You've beautifully described his inner pain and fears. It is inescapable to get that feeling passed on to the readers.
Poolside he regrets his behaviour with his wife on the wedding night. But, he started regretting from the very next minute that day. Only he had anger then and believed that he had a reason to behave so. His wife comes there and his fear reaches his lips. Loved this part very much.
About his father, you've written very well. He surely must have loved his father, adored him, respected him, wanted to grow up and be like him. But all those feelings received a huge blow on that fateful night. This is something which even I felt that he must have been very attached to his father too. 'You are just like your father', this must have been said to him even many times before the tragedy. That's why this fear, this determination to be anything but like him.
As I was reading, I wanted to know what triggered this fear suddenly. But, again it wasn't needed, any random thing can bring out our hidden fears and we go through those insecure feelings, sadness, etc. until we are soothed by our soul mates and we once again get going.
Have I rambled? Oh well, sangat ka asar. 😉

hi durga,

haan haan, blame me... expert rambler that you've become... 😆. that father thing... there has to be something there, right. how can a kid of 14 have no feelings for his dad. and if he's still willing to do their barsi every year, his dad's portrait very much there, then chances are he was not all bad all the time. there was a relationship. i chose for it to be a predictable positive one, the sort fathers have with their only sons in such patriarchal environments. beta, pota, these are everything... carriers of family name in feudal societies. perhaps there were fights between his parents, even father's violent gussa on display... how many of us hate our fathers because of that, we might be a bit scared, but as children don't we want our father's love pretty badly too, because we love them? they are our place of shelter and trust?

to suddenly have this father gone, to know he was a philanderer, to hate him in an instant, but could you stop loving him too? or fearing there was something of him in you? that telltale gussa of his...

this will be part of asr too i think. he hints at it when he rejects any resemblance with his father vehemently. i don't think such feelings ever go away completely, they recede, become almost harmless, and settle deep inside, as positive emotions ascend in an environment of love and trust.

thanks so much fotr coming back and cogitating.

This OS reduced me to tears twice- first when I felt the pain of Arnav Malik, hidden behind the rough n tough Arnav Singh Raizada. And secondly I had happy tears when Arnav Singh Raizada realized that he wont have to suffer alone now, thanks to his crazy but cute wife!
Beautiful OS,Indi!
Loved the description of Arnav riding his SUV on the deserted roads while it rained!
A fact which nobody mentioned in the show but which was quite apparent,Arnav loved his father, probably not as much as his mother, but still he loved him as a child would love his father till one point of time in his life. And that's why he hated him all the more coz he had not only given up his life but before that ruined the trust his son had in him.
And when he lost his mother,he lost his father as well. Loved that line!
And I also loved how Khushi put his fears to rest & reminded him that he was her Arnav Singh Raizada!
The last bit was cute.
U're a fabulous writer,Indi who writes exceptionally well! Do keep writing!

thank you for that fabulous comment, smita.

if there were a person like asr he would never ever be quite free of all that that night meant to him. yes he would try and resolve it the best he could, and the entry of a woman he could love and trust who loved and trusted him to would help in the healing and resolution... but there would always be in him somewhere that little 14 year old who heard a gun shot or two and his life was flipped out of control.

the darkness lingers and some days it just won't let you be.

what you say about loving his dad and the trust breaking is 100 percent true. this was never entered into. chances are his dad was also a great fun sort of father... and in a patriarchal set up, asr the only son was made much of bet. and for all of us in general, father is a huge place of trust. utter trust by a child... that got shattered. sad na?

thanks so much for saying what you do about the writing, i am thrilled and grateful. i should be sorry that i made you cry, but i am happy... terrible, aren't i?
