Horizon, it is the 1992 movie 'Chitram bhalare vichitram' starring Naresh, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Maharshi Raghava and Bhramanandam. The one where Naresh dresses up as a woman, so that they can stay in a house as PG. Just saw the 2nd episode of the show, the basic plot is the same, but the characters are changed. And only two friends, Karan acts as the husband and Gaurav Gera is the other friend dressed as his wife. The show seems to be a whacky comedy, full of OTT characters.

Salooni, whenever NK speaks I unknowingly wait for him to say something wrong and somebody to correct him. So it was odd when he spoke Shudh Hindi in JNJ and also regular Hindi in this show. I read somewhere that he too misses speaking in the tooti futi Hindi.

But didn't hint as I was hoping it was NOT that..but alas it was..:) it was a total OTT/ some times gross movie, you know what I mean, that I would avoid. Hope they mellowed it down for TV a bit and importantly hope Karan will have a nice role.

Episode 154

"A person named Arnav can't do anything right? Perhaps I should have let you fallen." Anjali makes sure Kushi is okay, but of course she is, she is in his arms. Madhu asks him so is he now ready to dance and Kushi exclaims emphatically NO she does not want to. Arnav also has to chime in reminding them that he doesn't want to dance with her and she like a taunted little girl turns around and says to him that it is she who doesn't want to dance with him! So there!

"Come Nanheji, let's continue." She harumphf him and walks to NK. He starts to leave but he turns around, I think his look is one of frustration, why do they do what they do to each other? He almost looks somewhat apologetic. NK notices the looks between the two but he is still too smitten with Kushi to really connect the dots.

Now it is time for Naniji to take the dance floor and who shall dance with her from the bride's family? Oh yes Buaji! The girls call Buaji to come over and she does. She meets Nand Kishore in a cute scene. NK says Buaji likes him and then really realizes great Buaji likes him, that maybe good news for him. No, NK, No!

The elder women are being taught the routine by Madhu and of course want to change the steps which is a no,no. Madhu is getting frustrated and it is time for her to leave but she puts the women in their place. Kushi has to decipher NK's words again and Arnav is watching as NK tells Kushi she knows how to read his heart. ASR's frustration comes in to play! He gets on the phone.

Nk and his terrible Hindi is comedic. Thank God I don't know what he is saying because I too would be frustrated! ASR is watching on as Kushi corrects him and he has a smile on his face. Kushi sees and an awkward moment occurs with her knowing he is smiling at her happiness. They eyes interlocked and again realization occurs, smiles turn to small scowls and he turns back up the stairs.

Aunt and Nani are still trying to tell Madhu that if they combine their moves with her moves it would be excellent but Madhu stops their nonsense!

Shyam is trying to figure out how to regain Kushi's trust and Anjali comes to check on him. He starts coughing as she walks in.

It's teatime and Kushi shows NK the dance move. NK and ASR are in awe. One's hand has become his place to lean on and the other nearly burns himself by not paying attention to sipping his tea. She just looks at Arnav. NK tells her dead bodies would get up and dance after watching her. Is that supposed to be romantic or bad Hindi? ASR just wants to bite his head off making NK a corpse, I guess that would make Arnav a zombie then!

Now we go into New Year's and what NK had read in the horoscope section of the newspaper. The person standing before you at midnight on New Year's Eve will be your life partner. Annnddd, the two of them look at each other! What a riot! They look at each other and then look away while Akash and Payal are blushing!

Anjali makes a romantic comment about Shyam'poor girl! Buaji is uncomfortable and so is Kushi. NK wants to know if Akash will see Payal and the elders say NO! They are not allowed to spend that time of night together. Kushi questions and is stopped by Naniji. Kushi tells her sister that she hopes she doesn't see that LG oh jijuji. Payal slaps her arm.

ASR overhears her conversation with herself about not meeting him and he says to her "excuse me?" He says he hopes she doesn't come before her because it is always her who goofs up. They bicker back and forth, forth and back, idle chatter and accusations but in the end it won't matter for as much as they think they don't want to come before each other at midnight on New Year's Eve but Devi Maiyya has other plans for them.

Episode 155

Frustration and the Phone

In the GH Buaji is showing Kushi her bridal attire and she thinks Kushi should wear it to the wedding. Little did they know she too will be the bride. Kushi is stunned the size of the dress way too big, she has to get out of this. She asks Buaji about Nandikishore and she thinks she is talking about Akash's cousin. Nahi! Kushi teases Buaji that she should wear the dress since she is very close with Nandikishore. Buaji chases the Sanka Devi.

Anjali and Shyam are talking as she is placing oil to his hair. They are discussing the dance and Anjali says they wanted her to do a step which she wasn't able to do, a jump step. Shyam scoops her off her feet as says he will help her to jump always.She asks that they be like this forever and he says he can't he will hurt his back.

Buaji and the women are planning the gifts for the Raizada's. They are thinking for Anjali a new thali since she always does arti and for Nani a chikan sari from Lucknow, although Buaji was complaining a bit about dancing with her that she is better. Bit of a show off Buaji! Who else do they have to give a gift? Oh yes Arnav. Kushi jumps up why do we have to give HIM a gift she asks. They answer he is the eldest son of the groom's family. Buaji asks Kushi sonce she knows him well what should they get him and she answers a fire extinguisher. CUTE!!! Payal is siding with the Raizada's and her family says since they are going to be her family now but Kushi says no her sister will always be hers and she hugs Payal. Buaji says she will belong to someone else's family and Payal gets upset and goes to her room and Buaji gets upset. Kushi points out to Buaji what she has done and goes to comfort her sister but wipes away Buaji's tears first.

Arnav, NK and a pacing Akash are in the living room of RM. Akash asks f they are sure there is no dance practice today? Nk answers there is not. He says he must meet Payal. ASR is frustrated by NK's rustling with his chips bag and candy. Akash must meet Payal!

Kushi tries to cheer up Payal and she asks her if she would like to meet Akash?

The men at the Raizada house are eating chips and Akash doesn't understand the rule that is being tossed in his face that he can't see Payal. ASR is trying to work at his laptop but is distracted by the munching and crunching and the conversation.

Kushi says to Payal that she thought she wanted to see Akash at midnight or at least hear his voice.

Nk says they didn't say you can't talk to her, so call her at midnight. He agrees but why wait he will call her right now she may be sleeping at 12. He calls, Buaji answers, he hangs up. NK asks what happened and Akash says, Buaji answered. ASR says so what Akash? NK says call. He calls, Garima answers, he hangs up. He is pacing. NK says call be a man. Yes! Yes ! Akash says and he calls again. Buaji answers and he loses his voice.

Aggravated ASR gets up grabs the phone out of Akash's hand and asks Buaji for Payal. Kushi runs out with Payal to grab the phone and asks who is it and Buaji tells her it is her brother in law. Kushi holds the phone like it has cooties and on the other end ASR slams Akash's mobile into his chest and says that wasn't so difficult! Akash says to Payal "there only a few days before the wedding and I wanted to call you at 12 but I want to know are you okay?" Payal hands the phone to Kushi and goes to her room. Kushi starts yelling at Akash thinking Arnav sad something to Payal when she realizes t is Akash. He explains what he said and Kushi tells him to call back on her cellular her sister went to her room she is sad.

NK is crazy knowing Kushi was on the other end and Akash is telling him to control himself. Akash says Kushi told him to call on her cell, NK jumps off the couch, He will call on Kushi's phone he knows how Akash gets nervous. ASR is just fuming in the background I know it! NK calls Kushi after insisting and when he gets Kushi she says she will give the phone to Payal but he says no he wants to talk to her. NK chit chats with Kushi like school kids while frustratingly Payal and Akash await for the phone to change hands.

ASR takes control. He takes the phone from NK and tells Kushi to stop and far as he knew this conversation was to take place between Akash and Payal and not NK and Kushi. She says they were speaking about something important and what's your problem. He answers the problem is Akash wants to talk to Payal. Hand the phone to Payal. YOU hand the phone to Akash. Here you go, he says to Akash, as he hands him the phone, NK remains empty handed no phone for him. Kushi is frustrated!

Anajli is looking for something in her closet and above her head is a suitcase that is teetering above her. Shyam waks out of the bathroom and sees the suitcase.

Akash is talking with Payal and asking what's the matter? She says nothing and he is still worried. Kushi takes the phone from her sister and explains although they are happy about the wedding; the talk of the send off causes Payal's melancholy.

The suitcase falls and Shyam has saved Anjali. He says she has been careless and very preoccupied, she agrees and he thinks to himself that is exactly what he wants so when something does occur no one will suspect him.

Episode-152

Khushi came to Arnav's cocktail party with so much mirth, but exited with scorching pain in her heart. Again Arnav pierced her heart with his poignant words. Her delectation turned to melancholy in just a short span of time. Arnav though tried to meliorate her by wishing to drop her home, but the damage is already done. Khuhsi is tenacious, no way can't she take his favor. She even doesn't want to take help from NK. NK insists, but she walks out all alone. Nk gets incredulous for her sudden changes of behavior. He is irritated on Arnav and asks him what's wrong. He runs after her.

In RM, nani is talking to Anjali about Khushi's fianc. She is telling her if Anjali would go to the party, she would meet him. She wishes to invite him some day, so that she can meet him. Anjali finally tells her sbout Khushi's broken alliance. Anjali tells nani that, Khushi admonished her not to tell it to anybody before the two engagements. Nani replies, cause she didn't want to affect the engagement of other two couples. Nani highly applauds her sensibility. she is more mature than the girls of her age. She hopes her grief reduces soon. Arnav who was eavesdropping their convo convulses to hear this. He remembers a while ago how he hurted her in the party. He gets down and calls NK. But Nk is not answering the phone, what makes him perturbed more.

Khushi still looks sullen. NK is asking her what the matter is. Why her mood suddenly went off? He asks her did Nanav say anything. She pauses now and smiles at him, she tries to aberate his query,
"someone said something, but I will not take it in my heart, my focus now is only on jiji and Akashji's wedding."

NK gets frolicked to see her happy "that's my desi girl" He gives her high five. He reminds her to come early tomorrow, cause the choreographer is coming to train them for the sandeep. Khushi mends him sangeet. He again made her smile. He bids her shubh night .Khushi also bids him "shubh ratri, (good night)"

In RM the grumpy sexy man is pacing back and forth in embroilment. When he sees NK enters RM look frolicsome, whistling and twirling his car key, he just conflagrates .He belches out his anger at him, why he didn't receive the phone. To embitter him more NK says that he doesn't like any interruption when he talks to his tarikh (date). Jaleme namak!!! NK's words rankles Arnav even more,

"Answer the god damn phone next time."

He points his finger to him loathsomely and leaves in anger. NK doesn't get the reason of his acrimony,

"How Nanav scolds me as if I didn't do my homework."

Anjali insists mami to participate in the dance. But she is adamant; no way she can't take part. Anjali became upset because of that. To alleviate her mood Nani says that mami is making excuse to avoid the dance teacher. Cuase she is scared of her. Anjali now smiles at her words.

When the door bell rings, NK runs to open the door as Anjali says that Payal and Khushi must came.. He welcomes Khushi warmly by calling her his desi girl. NK says them that , dance teacher ka intekal ho gaya. The dance teacher died. Payal and Khushi get flabbergasted to hear this. Khushi understands that he must mean something else. Nk says he called and did the intekal. Khushi understands, he meant intezam (arrangement). NK gets besotted at her sensibility that she can easily understand his dil ki baat (the words from his heart). Anjali tells NK to let them in. When Khushi goes to close the door, she meets Arnav, who just came from jogging I guess. Khushi looks reticent, she avoids him. But he wants to talk to her. He wants to assuage the matter between them. After all he cares. He acquiescently says her that he perhaps should not talk to her like that on the party. Khushi retorts him in volition, "shayad, perhaps!." She just leaves without letting him speak further.

Anajli and Nani are already getting scared of the fastidious dance teacher. Anjali is recollecting her last time bitter experience with her. Khushi gets frightened to hear this. Anjali says she does choreography in movies. She adds, she gets really angry when someone changes her dance step. Anjali says last time chote escaped to dance, but this time, she is planning to involve him. Khushi gets irascible to hear his name. Nani admonishes Khushi not to praise any actress in front of her, specially the actress of today's generation. Anjali asks Khushi whether she prepared any dance step or not, cause she will choreograph according to this. NK tells Anjali about Khushi's dance skill; how she enamored all the guests by her desi girl steps in last night party . Anjali and Nani gets surprised to hear this.

"I've been waiting for someone for so long, who can be compared with me. Here people are claiming big."

Finally the much talk about, strict dance teacher comes in front of them. Her supercilious attitude seems preposterous to me.

Nani smells her freshly done hina. She sarcastically answers her that

Pichli sangeet ki mehendi pe agli shaadi ki mehnedi lag hi jati. On the last wedding ceremony I do get the hina applied for the next. moreover does any big wedding happened without my choreography!

She tells them, she was supposed to go to abroad, but couldn't. NK is skeptical, why didn't you go, you didn't get the visa? Her assistant says

" nahi, rang yehi jamana tha. .

Nk thinks she is a painter too. She gets a bit annoyed to hear NK's comment. Anjali introduces her with Payal and Khushi. She praises Payal and brings her beside Akash. When Payal gets embarrassed she jibes her not to blush so much, suggests them to save some shyness for their suhaag raat. All of them also blush to hear her. Anjali gets shyam's call. She tells him to come fast.

The chreographerji comes to Khushi now,

"so it's bride's sister, that means half bride."

pause: this is certainly the indication of future that Khushi also will be the bride in this wedding arrangement.

NK praises Khushi that she also dances well teacherji. Madhubala gets angry to hear teacher from his mouth. NK mends himself by saying sorry. But still he can't pronounce her name correctly. He says madhushala, madhutala and finally when he was able to say Madhubala, her assistant rectifies him to call her Madhu instead. Madhubala looks annoyed at him

"who is this cartoon?'

Anjali says it's brother, whose brother. Nk just forbid her not to call him Khushi's brother. Everybody laughs at him. When Madhu says someone is missing, Arnav walks in there talking on the phone. Madhu looks impressed with his style,

"how gracefully you shook you head, same grace you should show in the dance floor."

Arnav answers her grimly that she knows he will not dance. But She is determined to make him dance this time. She insists him to listen to her choreography first. Arnav reluctantly stands back to listen.

A married couple will come on the stage with a melodious note, the stage will be fill with merriment. Then a blasting song will be played and with the song rain, even fire also may pour. Bride's sister may come from one side. She points finger to Khushi. and groom's brother will be on other side, she points towards Arnav. And the story will end like this.

Arnav and Khushi both look at each other perplexed. Madhu's assistant seems really enamored at her story. But Arnav refutes her tersely that he won't dance with her. Khushi feels insulted at his words. Arnav says he actually doesn't want to dance at all. Madhu's assistant tells NK, that nobody ever dared to say no to Madhu. It just happened once that the heroine objected. NK asks then who stayed back, Madhu or the heroine. He said Madhu had to back off.

Obviously the director was not fool to let go his heroine for this addle-pated choreographer.

Arnav again says sternly that he will not dance. But Madhu is obdurate; she declares if groom's brother doesn't dance, she will not do the choreography. When Arnav feels he can't do injustice to others, he tells her that NK will dance in his place as he is also groom's brother. Madhu scrutinizes NK and Khushi and thinks she will make it. NK is bekaar to participate. Khushi rectifies him, not bekaar but tyaar (ready).

"Now it sorted out, so let me go, cause I have lot of work to do."

Arnav straddles away from there in tashan.

Madhubala tells them to stand in position. She tells NK to put his hand on Khushi's waist. Arnav turns instantly to hear this. He might think

What the? How dare is NK touch my Khushi?

Never realized the ins and outs of TV industry until IPK happened to me that now I realize how hard it is for all these actors to find work that too a sustainable one. Karan came all the way from Spain.. hope he has a good career ahead! Also felt very bad when Akshay Dogra vented frustration at all the teeny weeny non significant roles he got thus far! Needless to say about Barun, Sanaya. I wish all of them to get the bestest roles and success. there are many spread in the industry like these. But for now I can only care for my IPK family in the bustle of my own daily life!! Amen!

Thank you for sharing your bachpan with us. So many little little things we assume are irrelevant, but stay in our memories and become so precious. Your ramblings reminded me of my bachpan, which was albeit in a different metro, but was full of some treasured memories. So is eveyone else's. 😊

Happy you had a gala time with the baraat. Big jhumkas, is it? So tell me Indi, what was your daughter's reaction when she saw you in your shiny saree, heavy jewellery and the likes? Or has she seen you in this avataar before? 😉

Oh Indi and Durga, just saw this post. I went to Delhi on 2011. Image of Tughlak lane brings back the memories of IPKKND. Because on the episodes 199-200 Arnav was searching for Khushi in the parliament and surrounding area. Now another image of course is that you may think I am mad, but I saw a very big butterfly in the area- do not recall the name of the road but was just off tughlak lane, the butterfly I had followed, it was just gorgeous. If you go there again Indi look for butterflies in that area. My daughter is obsessed with butterflies and I just had to take a picture of each kind of butterfly I saw there.

Episode 140-147

I was thinking for a long time what to write about the breaking of engagement of Khushi and Arnav's to Shyam and Lavanya respectively and muzed at the portrayal of Devine intervention. So when Khushi asked for that, there was soon the revealing of Payash alliance and breaking of the engagements. The episodes were power-packed and detail oriented not leaving much room for analysis, and whatever was left was well described by blasters and alike could not digest Khushi not telling Anjali about her husband's betrayal and Buaji and Amma's obliviousness to Khushi's pain.

Shyam : Could not help remember what Khushi had said to Arnav " Aap wohi dekha jo aap dekhna chahte the, aap wohi samjha jo aap samajhna cjhahte the, lekin uska matlab ye nehi ke aap ki soch aur samajh hi sach ki kareeb ho." Shyam was a person who made people think of him and see him in the way he wanted them to see him and think of him, in contrast to what he really was, a deceiving, two timing husband.

Shyam to Guptas was revealed in the first phase of revealing Shyam as a man who had saved Khushi's honor, a man who had looked after the Gupta family and taken care of Khushi. He was a lawyer trying to solve Buaji's monetary problems. Shyam to Raizadas In the second phase of revealing Shyam was revealed as Anjali's husband whom the entire Raizada clan liked however at the same time way lying to both Raizadas and Guptas alike. In the third phase it was revealed how he manipulated the entire Gupta's to get engaged to Khushi. In the fourth phase it was revealed that Khushi came to know he was Anjali's husband. All along one thing was coming strong and that was- Shyam was a master manipulator who had everyone fooled. He manipulated the entire Gupta's into now thinking about Payal's marriage rather than his manipulation. He was lying through his teeth that he was going to tell Khushi about his wedding when he never even have the slightest inclination . When he saw Khushi all inclined to go and tell the entire family about him, he brought up the issue of PAYASH marriage and them to think about it when he, if given the chance, would not have made that even happen in the first place. He said, Shashi was one of the reasons why he got engaged to Khushi, when in fact he had himself caused Shashi's condition and in fact Shashi was against this alliance. He had the audacity to come and tell Buaji ahead of Khushi so that she would forgive him. With Anjali he had a second explanation ready even when he had assumed that Khushi had told Anjali the truth. However it was also very well understood that he had calculated Gupta's move on Anjali when he blew the Payash bombshell and he would probably have used the same on Anjali had Khushi told her about him. There was a saying by prophet Luqman to his son it said " When a person complains to you about another person blinding both his eyes, and you know he is speaking the truth after all your investigations, make sure that the person complaining had not been the first person to blind four eyes of the person he is blaming for his blindness." Also truth does not need logic or presumptions whereas lies and wrong actions do. The entire reason for which Shyam was successful was because he made people around him incapable of making bad presumptions about him.

Lavanya : It is said that be careful of what you wish for because it might just become true and people get their just ends. It was of course true Lavanya loved Arnav however I think she also exceeded her limits and forgot herself in the meantime. However at the same time I think she also played a victim to manipulate the situations around her. She manipulated Khushi to work for her by giving her only one minute to decide if she wants the job and telling her she was going to stop everyone from giving her a job. An hour after giving Arnav a cake she was back with her two friends and played the victim showing the dark circles around her eyes. Although she was the one who called the police in Raizada mansion during janmashtami celebrations she told Arnav – she was insulted when Nani told the police to take her background check. During the Diwali celebrations she acted as a victim when some people asked about her relationship with Arnav. When Arnav was angry because she had worn a dress like Khushi she was again playing a victim telling the entire family that Arnav was always angry with her when in fact that was a single incident when he was angry with her to that extent and that too because she wearing a dress like Khushi. It was evident she had inklings of Arnav's feelings for Khushi when she wore the dress. She was showing off to Khushi the necklace Arnav had given her when she was present when Arnav told Khushi , " Maine tumhare pasand ka set Lavanya ko de diya, I hope tumhe koyi faraq nehi padta." It was her relationship with Arnav however whenever it suited she did use Khushi to smooth-en the path for her getting Arnav. She had just moments back encountered Arnav's restlessness for Khushi because Khushi was upset, however she still came with her childish play of asking how she looked in that Sari, because appearance to her was more important than feelings.This was someone whose entire life was based on her make up and appearance. So she changed her appearance to reflect that she has changed. In the midst of her breakup she again played a victim when she said to Arnav " I know you care for me but you love someone else." At the same time she probably was playing the victim trick again when she refused to tell anyone about the breakup, refusing to dress up for the occasion of sagai. However I think it did come to her mind that playing the victim was not going to get her Arnav then when during Salam e ishq dance looked at Khushi. She did have inkling of ARSHI feelings early when Khushi was working in office and she had asked Arnav- why she was giving Khushi so much importance who was a mere employee, in Teej celebrations when she saw them together, during diwali when she mentioned she was going to marry Arnav and Khushi was sad hearing that, when Arnav was devastated hearing Khushi's engagement. However probably because she played a victim and probably inspite of that she was a nice simple individual she did win our hearts. It can not be said she did not try to separate them, because her presence did. However I feel she left Arnav in a very vulnerable moment for him which if she really did love him would not have done. It was a trying moment for Arnav because he simply had to live then with a feeling that the person he loved was tortured, he did nothing to get Khushi when if he had tried he could have been as successful as Akash and he now for the same reason had to have daily encounters with Khushi and her fiance. If she really did love Arnav she would have chosen another time, and would probably have tried to help him rather making him feel guilty for breaking the alliance in front of his entire family and Khushi.

Khushi : I think for some reason I would give Khushi Kudos for her judgement. This was a person whom the entire family of Gupta's gave the responsibility of telling the truth of Shyam to Raizadas when ideally it should have been their entire family going to the Raizada mansion to tell them the truth. One reason Khushi was admirable was because even in the midst of a heartbreak she never played a victim which was a tremendous contrast to Lavanya. Shall We Dance?
