Hey dear, great post. So i discovered IPK just last aug, wathed the whole thing up till the remarriage in about 1 month, fell in love head over heels with the show Barun and sanaya. just when i caught up the remarriage track was progressing and i have to say up till then i enjoyed the show and the characters enormously. After the remarriage took place, and shyaam was exposed, the writing suffered big time. watching the show in such a short span, the earlier Arnav and Khushi were fresh in my head and i wasn't happy with the way Khushi was progressed after Shyaams exposure. Yes Khushi was OTT always and that's was made her special, but earlier on it was done written with lots of care and intelligence, for ex the "pot" scene...she was OTT b/c she was nervous about experiencing the "Dhak dhaks" first time...but later it just seemed forced...Hats off to Sanaya for carrying it off. I watched only for SARUN those later episodes...the only thing good out of Sheetal track was the Kadva chaut maha-epi!

I"m analyzing and writing about each episode along with a few others in the "Blast from past" thread and we're on the nainitaal track, i can't tell you how much i'm enjoying and LOVING these earlier ones even more the second time, the depth of the writing and the acting of Barun is mind boggling and Sanaya comic timing is impeccable. IT really was special show.

Quoting this as most of the sentences are in my mind too to share with TM.
TM, I completely agree with you about the beauty of the show in first half and the only saving grace till end was SaRun. Because of improper handling of the daily episode and track handling, it became OTT in the end. Otherwise, I agree that Khushi's earlier deeds which I call 'antics' are amusing and cute while it became OTT when it comes to several scenes that were written post re-marriage. My anger on CVs always shoots up whenever reminded about those episodes in Oct,Nov. If we notice the methods she use ex: finding Payal's opinion, to convince Mami for their marriage thru Arnav, nainital drive and many incidents doesn't annoy us and instead brings nice humor.
Like LM stated in one of his interview, even if the scenario is far from reality, as long as we present it in a convincing manner, it works (which is what missed in last 2 months of the show).
and yes, like Barundiwani stated in other post, suicide track and some other scenes were awful too.

Beautiful post!

Not that I liked Khushi's OTT.. but I agree with you that all these were continuation of her character.

Had she been a person who would think and act seriously on situations like this, she wouldn't have remain in ASR's life, first of all... There had been so many moments when I used to get annoyed at Khushi for not reacting to ASR's humiliations or for letting it go... she cpould also hurt him equally, but she never did that, rather she ensured everything goes well with ASR and his life.. Then i realize time and again that forgiveness and positivism are her basic characteristics.

I remember her dialogue to NK after the Cocktail Party, when NK asked her, why she was upset, whether ASR had said/done anything wrong.. and she said, 'Yes, somebody told something.. but I have decided not to take those things by heart, my sister's happiness is everything to me.'

She is like this.. she doesn't care what others think when it comes to making someone happy or proving her point.

I loved your post!

Our love for IPK is just like any addiction good or bad. This beautiful piece of art is mentally engaging, elevates our mood, releases endorphins and makes us coming back for repeat viewing and sharing thoughts. Everybody gets a slice of their secret guilty pleasure and get lost in the depthless depths of this show. Within the detailed story telling, BS' acting skills tell a tale of its own. The series of micro expressions he delivers within fraction of seconds demands pause and replay for interpretation. Regardless of his state of mind be it rage, frustration, pain or hatred, A never failed to simultaneously express love for K. IPK made viewers believe and dream romance. It made us relive, rejuvenate and cherish love.

Not just characters but whole storylines got butchered. Arnav's redemption track, Shyam's exposure track and for me the biggest of all Arnav's past. For over a year I watched desperately wanting to know the dark past that turned Arnav Malik into ASR expecting something huge and basically got a damp squib with Garima being the other woman and Arnav's mother committing suicide on her daughters wedding day which to me made no sense whatsoever.
Arnav's character was pretty much done with after the remarriage and we never saw ASR again. The character was completely and utterly butchered during the Sheetal track and it was like watching a different person , the main redeeming factor of that whole track was the karva chauth sequence and a few other scenes.
I never had any real issue with Khushi's OTT after the forced marriage because to me that is how Khushi would react. She had tried everything she could think of to get the truth of the marriage out of Arnav but had failed so now she was trying to irritate him into throwing her out...this was totally in line with Khushi. The suicide however was not in Khushi's character...i could see her leaving but not committing suicide and that was the first time the character was butchered. The two times I cringed were the peon sequence and then the scene where Khushi put's on clownish make up during the Mrs.India track...hat's off to Sanaya Irani for pulling those scenes off with the dignity she did.
Despite all the show's faults and it's obvious decline I loved it all to the very last episode and have watched every episode and every scene over and over again (apart from the post kidnapping Shyamli sequences which I barely watched the initial showing). The IPK team created magic with this show, even at the lowest points there would be moments of sheer brilliance and magic and because of that IPK was the first show I became addicted to and it will always be in my heart as a beautiful memory.

I liked the Khushi from the beginning of the show. THAT was the character that spoke to me.

The character who was strong enough to scream at Arnav when he put her life at risk, who told him that he could go to hell. I also liked her humor... it was original, unique and fresh. In particular, the samosa stuffing scene, the heartbeat scene and the scene where she "plays" hide and seek with Om Prakash are my favorites. I actually laughed while watching a soap opera! It was the first time.

By the end of the show, I didn't understand her. She was a bit "too" strange, and I began laughing more at Khushi's stupidity than the cuteness of her antics.

I know this may be a harsh way of putting it, but I liked Khushi when she was "chamkili". When she wore the pompoms, the braid and the flashy tight fitting chudidars. When she spoke to Devi Maiyya and spoke her mind. In every scene where she was dressed like that (coincidentally), I loved her. The minute she lost that avatar, my ability to connect with her began to depreciate.

Same goes for Arnav. I agree, by the end of the show, he was a changed man. But he just lost it totally. That short temper, the power, that fiery quality about him vanished. And even worse, he wasn't able to see Khushi's pain. When he was the cruel business man, he still understood when she was hurt because love overcame his hate. It was a bit difficult to watch him being oblivious to her pain after becoming her husband.

For an example:
Diwali 2012: Arnav looks past his relationship with Lavanya and the huge differences between his and Khushi's status and leans in to kiss her.
Diwali 2013: Arnav, despite his relationship with Khushi, reminds her of her "true" status and her inability to be at his level.

The deterioration of the entire show is evident in the final few months.

nice, thanks for following, the BFTP thread really ease the pain of losing the show. I agree with you to a point, we love them so much i know some ppl stopped watching but i could never do that. In fact i wasn't even one of thos people that complained during the uproar of the Sheetal track b/c at least the show was still on...but even Arnav character did a complet 360...and Barun's lack of interest was obvious too in the sheetal track. But with Arnav the writers had a sense in where they were taking him (as in he was tamer happier etc) , but with Khushi feels like they just didn't know what to do with her. there were some inconsistencies also, earlier Khushi cherishes her life, her dialogue to Payal on her first day of work at AR was "Marenge kyu? karenge aur aur karenge"...during the resignation scene, she became a lioness yelled at him b/c she though he put her life in danger on purpose, so how can be ready to commit suicide b/c she thought Arnav was trying to kill her to be with La?? ...that too in a very comic way (suicide is was too serious they made a joke out of it) i can undertand her stepping aside and sacrifice her love for La but why kill herself?. I think her suicide track was just as bad or worse than the sheetal track. then diwali 2012 she liked fireworks all of the sudden...2011 she advised La against them not once but twice...the whole writing in general suffered, Khushi's character was always a tad inconsistent, which i think made it hard for the later writers...I wish the maker loved the show like we did, there was so much potential.😭

sorry for the long post got carried away :)

I sply noticed ur index in BFTP... Re-living those golden days thru such posts... Never stop it dr plz... Do continue for every single episode... Nice that u vented out ur frustations abt the worst tracks in IPK... The diwali cracker dialogues cant be justified in any way... The saddest point is that no one not even a single person in the entire team realised this while shooting that? - directors, gul, cameraman, writers, actors???? That moment I felt they dont love the show as we do, as it just a job for them.

Ya I loved the fierce khushi in the GH & resignation scenes a lot. But at that time it was diff; her life was much important than that third person ASR. Later she fell in love with him & he is her husband & her life. Ya she will irritate him, but cannot hurt him really. If her death can give happiness to him, she is willing to do it. The transition from comedy to an intense situation was good. She cld have run somewhere but actually she though he wanted her death right? I would also try to make a post on arnav's character change towards the end of the serial...
