Great post, completely agree with you, it seems like u've put into words what i've been thinking. I've read every post on every page to get here and what i dont understand is why are some people again bringing sobti into it and comparing what he did or did not do with what gul did or did not do and saying blame him too? Both were bashed badly, and this was and is wrong and many people are unhappy with one or the other or both.
But - if we forget about him for a second what stands out is who was responsible for the show from inception to birth to duration to end - 4lions and ultimately gul. Who was responsible for storyline/lack of, characterisation, all tracks good or bad, costumes, sets, everything - 4lions and thus gul. Who was responsible for sensitive, confidential information getting leaked - gul. Who did not come out with a statement to the fans or the media about what the actual situation was - gul. Who did not defend her employee in either of the coffee interviews but instead made them a platform for washing herself of all blame - gul.
It is not about what gul did compared to what barun did, who was worse, who's to blame, its about the person IN POWER, the person IN CHARGE, the EMPLOYER who owned and ran the show not taking any responsibility for her professional actions throughout the shows existence. This is unnacceptable, this is assuming your audience are uneducated in how industry works and will not ask questions, this is assuming your audience will not question contradictory statements, this is assuming your audience can be distracted from your action/inaction with 'mummy' facebook statements, forum32 gaffes and open letters, random spoiler givers, outside sources, so many things - ALL meant to shift blame away from the actual people in charge towards an employee.
Did barun create the show? Did barun create the characters? Did he write the show? Did he direct the show? Did he finance the show? No. Did he fulfill his obligations and contract and do what he was paid to do? Yes. What he does after that is his business whether we agree or disagree with his decision. Did 4lions or gul fulfill their obligation to the audience in terms of storyline, script, tracks, logic, characterisations, closing of loops, parallel storylines, use of ensemble cast, keeping actors, writers, directors happy creatively? No. Did they even stay true to their original concept and storyline and characters? No. Did they respect the audience enough to tell them the truth directly about the lead actor leaving, the state of the show, the reason for closure? No.
I feel like the interview is being used like smoke and mirrors to take my attention away from who is ultimately responsible for each and every aspect of the show. I dont see the need to vent out frustrations by bashing anyone but i dont see how all the questions we as a loyal audience have can be answered by putting the blame on an employee. How is barun responsible for EVERYTHING? The buck stops with the boss - gul. Until 4lions and gul answer our valid questions we will continue to be wary and suspicious of their motives in every single thing they do.
