I don't know who you are but thanks for coming and reaching out. But, unfortunately for you and this show, it is too little too late.
This PH has been a complete disaster when it comes to reaching out and understanding and synthesizing input from its fans. When fans complained, the initial reactions fell on deaf ears and then months later, after a TRP beating, fans were told "dekhna hai toh dekho" and now, that is all that is left isn't it. There is nothing else. This show wasn't built to be just something that your eyeballs glazed over as that little phrase suggests, it was a show that we intentionally tuned in to because we were vested in the story and somehow, this PH lost that nuance in the feedback, the egos were too huge, the vision became myopic.
Everytime the fans had vested themselves again in the story, the PH let them down. You cannot play with your consumers sentiments like that over and over again. The trust in your originality and storytelling, and faith that you would do the right thing by the storyline and the characters ran out. It quite frankly doesn't matter what the external pressures were that drove your story, your product, into the realm of the substandard. As a viewer, all I know is that you and your PH and that producer (GK in particular) did not have the fortitude to duke it out for your 'baby'. And then in the midst of a palpable demise in quality storytellling, the fans were witness to one of the most backhanded attempts of a PH undermining its own lead actor's integrity.
Quite frankly, there is no reason that the fans emotions should have been played with in this manner. There is no reason that we should be witness to such backstabbing and underhanded techniques and petty politics by a PH. There is no reason as fans that we should have been pumped up full of love and expectation and then told that why do we have expectations. You feel a let down as a writer and as a creative person whose vision is limping towards its death. We feel a let down as a viewer by a PH who thought we were STUPID, insulted our intelligence over and over not only with the storyline but also with comments to IF and the media and we were not worth extending even a little bit of professional courtesy to.
The lack of professionalism for 4 Lions has been its Achilles Heel. It lead to the downfall of the story, its fan following and will unfortunately lead to the downfall of future 'babies'. There is a great swath of fans who won't be fooled again, whose intelligence and faith will not be insulted again.
Thank you for your honesty. Your show was a thing of beauty before it all went horribly bad. Thank you for giving us ASR. He will remain an icon.
