Tanu jee,

Tanu nice to see your post. and yes thank god the drought is over.
I was irritated with Khushi today though much as I loved her measuring tactics. It seems to me (as another post that indi52 wrote) that the CV s are shying away from showing any active passion from Khushi - and its really time they showed her getting more passionate and wanting ASR as much as he wants her. It seems almost as if all the passion is on his side and she loves him almost like another family member.those chaste kisses were weird - they are a newly married couple and they needed to show more passion - camera angles, symbolism, anything should work.on the flip side if they are doing a Robindranath Tagore with his story of the awakening of the woman in the girl then they are sure going about it all wrong... she looks like she is in a coma - there has to be more active passion from her. I loved Indi's post about it -SP needs to grab this opportunity to show some serious nayi soch while keeping it family friendly and PH needs to grab it to get into the big league of creativity... the leap from unrequited love to requited but everyday passion is v v hard and v few get it right - in fact it is a contention of mine that Indian film makers rarely get everyday passion well on the visual media... I would pick an English movie anyway for that but these guys have the capability of doing it - wish they would..long comment from me after a long time... but I am feeling quite desperate... this serial is over in my head and its become habit to watch it rather than a pleasure most times...
Hi Tanu
I watch out for your posts along with a few others because I know I will get a treat reading it as always
🤗
Having said that, I must point out that having extended family from small towns or traditional mind set I have seen behavior like that of Khushi – where passion and love must be a v private thing, where a woman loses her feminity if she owns her sexuality or is open about her passion, where only men must initiate passion and women must submit either to humor or to tolerate because there is no other option.
I am not being judgemental here, at least I am trying not to, just saying that the CV s are showing what is often reality but my grouse is that this PH had the ability to use layers and symbolism to break the norm and to break the system – they showed a man with balls in an SP channel, at prime time in an Indian family viewing context, a live in relationship (although the western clothes = vamp still does my head in), I even find their characterization of Anjali fascinating – unlike others on IF I see her as a clearly developed weak, selfish and yet loving character deliberately by the CV s and beautifully grey vs an angelic sister who is always right
👏 to the CV s for that
This could be an opportunity for the CV s to push the envelop further, to get edgier, to show a Khushi who is passionate and upfront in her love and being empowered yet being feminine... That is one of the reasons I like that movie "Beta" which also did the same...
About the new toy at Zee, I am really enthused about that. I grew up in an era when Garam Hawa was just going out of fashion (watch it if you can- it is a mind blowing old movie) and Hindu, Christian and Muslim culture was really all beautifully a confluence at least in Delhi where I grew up.. I see the modern India too mono cultural for my taste – perhaps it is my perception. I love the idea of a serial that does not talk about Islam and terrorism and instead focuses on the gorgeous cultural motifs from there.
