The following post started as a response to a fantastic post made by tia.o-The Three Goddess of Double Standard of RM. You can find it here :

This is a half baked attempt by me to try and feel good about IPK again.
I think I will play the Devil's Advocate here because I like seeing the other person's point of view IRL and the inherent need to find logic in things around me.
Edit1:
I realised that thinking about the negative point of these women , was giving me a headache! So I am going to take inspiration from Anjali, and just plain refuse to see the truth. I will watch only the Arshi scenes. 🤣 See, there is something good to learn from Anjali after all
Edit 2:
I have decided to take 1 quality from each of the women mentioned and mix them up against them.
1) Anjali: Refuse to see the truth (or any Anjali scenes!)
2) Dadi: Refuse to ask questions and just make judgement. (she can do whatever she wants)
3) Mami: Refuse to accept outsiders (in my case anyone apart from Arshi! )
(I'm aware that Logic and Indian dramas don't go hand in hand, but, like my friend GodHelpUs, even I can't stop trying! It is a default reaction)
We all know the answer is Shyaam. We all know that he is good at manipulating words. He is one of those idiots who is in the right profession with the right set of skills, but refuses to use them! If he actually focused, what a lawyer he would have made! But, that is another matter altogether.
So, back to Dadi. Why did she return? Isn't it because she loves her grandchildren? Isn't it because she fears that history will repeat itself? She might lose her grandchildren just the way she lost her son. Because of "some woman". She was aware of Anjali's marriage. She hasn't heard anything of Arnav's. Is it that strange that she wouldn't think it is suspicious? That suddenly after marriage, this "girl" has effectively destroyed her granddaughter's marriage. She doesn't know the complete truth, I agree. But in her shoes, who would you believe? The husband whom you have been informed and formally introduced too, who came looking for her, because he just wants her help to be with his wife and daughter? Or an unknown entity? Is it that surprising that she will draw similarities between what happened to her son, that drove her into seclusion and what is happening with her grandson. In her mind, she thinks, that the happiness of both her granddaughter and grandson is threatened and she is determined not to let history repeat itself!
I, for one have some hopes from this character, because she seems a bit like ASR. I want to see if they show her getting suspicious of Shyaam eventually. She doesn't seem like a lady who won't use her head.
2) Anjali: She is everything I love and hate in women. Boundless love and understanding. She is not sexist or a snob. She always sees the good in people. But these qualities are her negative points as well. She is so focused on the Light that she doesn't see the dark. But then again, has anyone let her ? She has been molly coddled since she was young. Probably by her parents, then by Arnav and rest of the Raizadas, fearing that she is too much like her mother. Later even by the Gupta's. She sees the world in such a positive light, that they all want to help maintain her illusion and be a part of it, if possible. She seems to me like the TV version of Shri Shri Ravishankar 😆. She inspires loyalty and protectiveness in people around her because of her inherent goodness.
Getting back to the main point, this is probably the first time in her life, that she is being pulled in 2 directions: Arnav and Shyaam. Ideally, she wants things to go back to the way were- too good to be true. She is not fit to handle this situation. She is trying to go both ways, but is failing. That is basically what they are portraying now. Situations have always been handled for her. Now, for the first time in her life, she is forced to take charge of her life. Making some mistakes, should be allowed right? As, one only learns from their mistakes.
One thing for sure, her trust on Shyaam will be the last one to crumble.
3) Mami: Say what you may, I can never hate this woman! 😆 I am naturally attracted towards strong, in-your-face characters. I would rather have an honest character like her around me than someone who bitches behind my back but is swet to me on my face. She is so comfortable in her skin and is not ashamed of it. I just love that in her.
Anyway, people have blamed her for being her a classist when she herself comes from a not-so-well to do background! Well, the way I see it, she was probably a fortune hunter herself. This doesn't mean she doesn't love her husband. But because she was one, she is suspicious about anyone who approaches her 3 children. Yes 3- Akash, Arnav and Anjali. Throughout the serial, I have never once seen her treat them differently. They are all her children and she will do all she can to protect their happiness. This is another reason, I can never hate her! ❤️ And the way she reacted during Arnav's kidnapping, I just fell in love with her. 😳 She went looking for him like a lioness hell bent on protecting her cub. She whipped up all her jewellery without a second thought to prepare for ransom, proving that, even though being rich is important to her, it is not more important than her children and she would give it all up, if it means saving them! 👍🏼
Yes, she is harsh and insensitive towards anyone from outside the family. But she asks questions that need to be asked at the time they need to said. I love her direct approach towards things. She is a true mother. She loves her kids, but knows that sometimes she has to be harsh to them, for their own good. She is another smart cookie. I am eagerly waiting to see how she deals with the Shyaam situation. Also, her sense of humour is out of the world!
With this, I rest my case!
Dunno about you, but I felt better after writing this down! I hope you feel the same. 😊
