If constructive criticism cannot be taken in the proper manner and we are being forced to restrain ourselves from voicing our opinions, I think the forum is no longer a place where we can freely share our views.
Negative criticism is never pleasant. It doesn't come wrapped in wreaths of flowers with pretty bows hanging from the sides. It's harsh and that's how reality works.
Here's a few examples of movie reviews which are nasty to say the least.
Actor, Pearl Harbor (2001)
Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett and Kate Beckinsale give performances of such somnambulist awfulness that the three of them achieve an almost zen-like state of woodenness. This is bad acting above and beyond the call of duty; this is Purple Heart bad acting. (Peter Bradshaw, Guardian)
Affleck, called upon to play someone stupider than himself, goes even deader behind the eyes than usual, and when emoting resorts to the kind of facial spasms that won him jeers of joyous derision at screenings of Pearl Harbour.
(Chris Tookey, Daily Mail)
Ben Affleck's goose is cooked with Surviving Christmas, a movie that makes Gigli look like one of the crowning moments in his career.
(Jami Bernard, New York Daily News)
Jennifer Aniston
Actress, Picture Perfect (1997)
Friends star Aniston will need all the friends she can muster when this grisly mess haunts her on late night TV where it deserves to be missed' Rock Hudson and Doris Day used to do this kind of fluffy romantic comedy fluff in their sleep. Aniston and Mohr do it badly, in other people's sleep.
(Alan Frank, Video Home Entertainment)
Christian Bale
Actor, Terminator: Salvation (2009)
Bale's belligerent, resentful facial expression is that of a stunned ox, or a vexed moose, or a rhino that thinks it's overheard someone calling its mum a sl*g.
(Peter Bradshaw, Guardian)
Jennifer Lopez
After four unsuccessful previous nominations for a Razzie, J-Lo won the 2003 worst actress award for Gigli. Her performance in this film makes her an early front-runner for 2005.
(Chris Tookey, Daily Mail)
This is just a taste of how criticism works in the real world.
When someone say anything remotely close to negative criticism, the post is termed bashing.
What amazes me is how our displeasure cannot be shown if the actor has not groomed properly or his/her expressions were not up to mark or his/her PR skills need some boosting etc when thousand posts that scutinizes Barun's pysical aspects in a very scandalizing and degrading manner can be hailed and deemed the best post in the forum.
Had a man centric forum did the very same to Sanaya and her bodily attributes, they would have been cursed to oblivion.
There are double standards in this forum. Enugh said.
People who cannot take a few negative points regarding their favourit actor/ show reports the post without thinking much becuase they simply cant bear to hear anything negative about them.
But the forum moderators need to be more vigilant when they deal with these report posts because just because some people cannot take a point of view, it's not bashing.

Hiruni well said..agreed on all points...

@ Bold - bang on...Have seen many threads like this..

The moment u will write something against ASR or BS..- You will bashed left right and center..

No one even will try to think what exactly is the point of making the post..

They almost consider it as a sin..LOL...

I simply want to summarize your post with a simple example.
If a kid is going astray and say he had stolen something, what a responsible mother does? Will she ignore it or praise it saying you have done a commendable job? Or will she try to correct him, make him understand what he did is wrong. Sometimes kids will be stubborn and dont want to understand things, she will be lil harsh but it doesnt mean she doesnt like her kid?At the end of the day its to inculcate some good manners and make him a responsible citizen.
I think I put across my thoughts clearly.😊

Thanks buddy...

Brilliant example babes...agreed completely

I completely agree that criticism is not bashing however there is a distinct line between the two that the forum tends to always cross.
Is calling the show crap not bashing?
Is asking everyone not to watch an episode before it even airs not bashing?
Saying what you didn't like about an episode after it airs is one thing, but assuming that the episode is going to be bad before it even airs is another.

I concur.

However, the problem is not just with such juvenile terms and those who support it.

It is also with those who are blatant supporters of Barun Sobti and are asked to 'Moderate' threads that are against him. Is it any wonder no such threads are tolerated?

DT and MODS - this is not 'bashing' you (to use your own term). It is simply an observation that can be backed up with factual proof if required.

You guys have said it all and I'm left with nothing much to add

The sad part of this forum is some members are allergic to criticism. For example, the moment somebody criticize ASR, his fans get all worked up and label the TM as ASR hater and question your loyalty as a fan. Several other threads are opened to demand people to stop questioning the character as a result. Does being a fan means you are limited to share your honest opinion? Is this a discussion forum or a war battle?

I wish people grew up and realized that nobody can praise anybody 24/7 despite being fans
