Where does it say in our texts, religious or otherwise, that pheras are necessary? As you stated ( & I mentioned it in one of my Crooner posts, too), agni was present at the venue...not to mention, Khushi still wears her mangalsutra AND sindoor even as she prepares for a marriage or remarriage (I can't figure out what to call it anymore.) Why? And there is no questioning on the elders' part at all about her doing so; do we need this charade? Or is it just a creative liberty on the CVs part?

The only enjoyment I get from the 'rasams' is ArHi getting closer; ASR defying & circumventing the 'rules' (Dadi's twitching is gonna take on a whole new dimension...lol..) The fundamental 'purpose' behind the rituals is LOST for me because this couple is ALREADY married! Societal dictates should never trump love & one's own truth, but that is what the CVs have chosen to show...Consummating a relationship which does not follow these dictates is painted as wrong...Where is the 'soch nayi', CVs!?

Dunno, Di, still hoping for something out of the box here and in keeping with these characters...I don't want to succumb to the same old, same old (no pun intended) when it comes to ArHi! 😔

anjali,
as i said in the pm, each thought of yours worth a billion.

yes, you were the first i remember to talk on crooner about the ideal recommitment/private ceremony call it what you will, with payals, bangles, letter, and stars. of course, there marriage is true and valid.

this whole thing is indeed a charade. doesn't bother anyone that the presence of god (if we say we believe) is being negated? not to mention fire, mangalsutra, sindoor, mantra. only because a couple of rituals have been bypassed? rituals created by humans are more important than everything? what can i say. it is sad.

and i'm afraid when you show asr folding his hands before dm and not even mean it, something is off at too many levels.

khushi is looking more and more like an sp bahu, asr is being cut and pruned. question is, for whom and why. this is a great show, i'm still hoping, the creatives will find a quick clever ipk way out of this strangeness.

Indrani an interesting post.. I enjoyed reading it. Whether we like it or not.. we are headed towards the direction where the heart of the mass lies.. the niche has been carved... now the effort is to widen the viewing net...this is a start... if the strategy is successful and the longevity of IPK gets channel benevolence we are in for even more such treats in different shapes and sizes...😳 The course has been set the message delivered dekhna hai to dekho...the discretion to choose our path lies with us...

hi koel,
the message is clear, or is it? dekhte hain. gut feel, this path will not widen the net, in fact there will be loss of audience and revenue. i could be wrong of course. 😊

the only reason to say the things i say is because of the joy this show has given me for many months. of course, one can walk away, but before that felt like it was only right to fight for its unique and rather beautiful essence. soch nayi, even.

just trying, that's all, 😆

whatever happens I wish the makers, the crew and the cast best of luck in their efforts. I always believe it is their world ,their profession the dynamics of it are known to them the best... Quitting is too easy a solution for me... I have never been one to do that easily 😆.. There is always a silver lining in any situation and that holds good for IPK too..Few scenes still touch me.. few are off key... I choose to enjoy the part that I liked with my friends... sometimes rant about my dislikes...but leave it all behind in the thread when I move out...IPK still gives me an escape from the real world wherein I can relax in the 20 mins of enjoyment... and that is all it matters for me... rambling in a sleepy state with disjointed thoughts... time to hit the bed...wish u a good evening /morning...😊

have a good rest, koel. not quitting in a rush ha ha, no way. that's why diving in and trying. despite the veering off factor, as you say, every day there's something worthwhile there. off the cuff, the sorry, the thank you, and of course the "that i love you dammit," the "hum bhi aaps i love you dammit," and the fluid and real lovers' phone call from the last two weeks still thrilling me. to ipk. may it be as fab as it can be. gnite.

HI!!

Thanks so much for this post and for putting into words what so many of us have been feeling.

Like Sam, I also expected them to have a renewal of vows - or at least just take the vows - that is the only rasam that was not completed. I would have loved to have ASR throw that in Granny's face - because one has only to go through this forum to realize that fans do keep count and they have very long memories. So either the CVs are under too much pressure or they forgot what magic they did with Diwali lights!

thanks and hi, girloffire.

oh the magic of diwali, nanitaal, their first meeting, even this holi, and so much more. how much we fans remember and love this show. how i wish the creatives would resist all pressure and do what they do best. you are right, only those vows, if need be with pheras. couldn't that have been done in a more ipk way? would have been not just beautiful, but also right.
still hoping for an ipk style totally unpredictable save. ha ha, hope springs eternal..

di
just went thru your long post😆.
gonna post a me too kind of...
this remarriage is an absolute unnessary for me...am ready to close my eyes if i can brush it off as trp boosting thingi...that apart it is not needed at all...they r married in front of DM, agni...given d choice Arnav wouldnt have bothered about sindoor n ms too...but he did because somewhere he believed her, respected her beliefs.
i was ok if mami continued her ways at phatti saree and occasionally raising d topic of marriage without pheras...
may be family could have suggested a function including registration of marriage to get a nod from d society.
ipk is so unique ...it hurts to see they slowly merging into genral SP order of daily soaps...
another thing puzzles me is why should khushi keep on turning down Arnav to pacify random relatives. she knows where this dadi stands in Arnav's life and that arnav is supporting her at every step, then why is she so hell bent on following dadi's dictat?

I have no problem with a big fat wedding even tho i feel it goes against the story i love. i never wanted to see arnav n khushi ride in a horse and have sucha huge lavish wedding but fine if they want to do it for the family im fine with that.
what i hate is that they keep making it seem as tho they are not married when in fact they are married. khushi wears her mangalsutra n sindoor. although i am not too familiar with the hindu norms...people in india do have register marriages where they dont perform pheras and all the other rituals...so do their marriages not count.
i would have been much much happier if arnav went to his entire family dadi didi included and told them that khushi is his wife and will not be forced out of this house no matter what they say. they will perform the rituals only for the sake of the familys happiness but even if these rituals dont happen khushi is still his wife.

I apologize right off the bat for the font in the quoted text...I am on my phone & the formatting goes for a toss! To your pt abt ASR in DM's sanctuary: just commented on SK's thread earlier today abt what ASR would have prayed for (if anything.) To me he was going through the motions; he wants to show appreciation for tradition to & because of her...I refuse to think he is a follower, a bhakt all of a sudden...
If they bring in this religious slant to him, that will be a massacre of the character for me...It is not necessary for ASR to embrace every single thing that defines Khushi; their relationship is defined by who they both are individually! Why are we morphing him into something he is not?

Khushi seems to have lost her voice, Di...I appreciate her standing up for her man, but I can't imagine our Khushi being so clueless to her Amma's distress...I haven't watched Thursday's epi, so maybe I speak too soon...I still hold hope for her...Have seen very few SP shows, but the thought of Khushi as a 'ji, ji' bahu is concerning. I also fear the maligning we saw last week is not over yet...& she will take it w/o saying anything...where is the woman who told Shyam off?

Is all of this a TRP ploy? I think so...the 'mass factor' at play again...But I do believe in this set of CVs, shortcomings notwithstanding...Trying to watch w/o expectations so that I am surprised & possibly blown away!

I have no problem walking away from a show if I have to...hopefully, this one won't come to that...
