becoz in India, the engagement ring is worn on the right hand of the men and women both but it varies from community to community

Well for Us Gujarati's in Malaysia...

Girl wears it on left hand but guys wear it on the right hand...

Yes In Indian and Sri Lankan culture Men wears the ring on right hand women wear on the left hand. but it's depend on religion wise.
