Most of us are quite involved/attached to this show. We love it to death and can't stop watching it. Some where along ...the story/acting/talent interested us and we are hooked. This show has become part of our reality. It is not just fiction. We spend much more than half hour on the show everyday, including weekends, when we drool on the forum or watch repeats. We invest our time from our real life to watch this show. So, no wonder we all have hopes, dreams for the show. We expect goooddd, because we know the team is capable. They have shown us before. Each one of them.

We complain/rant/appreciate/applaud becoz we CARE so much about this show! Our love for the show and the team however is not blind, like Anjali's love for Shyam. We love this show with our hearts/brains in place and we will criticise with our hearts/brains in its place too.

You know Rima being a fangirl doesn't mean you switch off all brain activity. Stereotyping again. Everyone is emotionally attacked i reckon, we wouldn't be here otherwise. 😊

Coming to your point- Two sides of the same coin Rima.😆

Haha that is seriously awesome Aimz! I am thankful to that course of yours, which sounds extremely interesting, because it has brought you to share your engaging views with us. I love insightful debates too, which is why I post in rima's threads all the time. I've already noticed you have a wonderful sense of humor!

To be honest, it surprises me when people actually agree with my ramblings because I don't think I convey my thoughts very well...I always come out sounding aggressive, even if I don't mean to be! But if there's even one person who gets me, like you and the other posters here, it makes it worth sharing my feelings. I completely agree with the rest of your post, thanks for making me feel sane!

Oh yes, I love my course as well. In fact, it just got changed when our batch arrived and I remember how I was the only one in the whole class who gave this little scream of delight when I found out we'd be studying Wuthering Heights 😆 Apart from that, we have got Julius Caesar, which is fine...though I'd have preferred Romeo and Juliet.

I know right, I totally get your sentiments. It happens with me in my exam as well as in the Forum. Halfway through my rant, I begin to doubt myself but now that I have started I think, "Ah, just spit it out, dammit!" Like my professor, you all are angels to think it of any worth.

And no way, I always respect your posts and usually reply to them, especially because they are so in line with my own thoughts!

aimz i am a literature student too. Master in english literature and to dte i haven't gotten over heathclifff and darcy
diff is one loved and tread the path of destruction and the other loved and tread the path of redemption
i want our arnie boy to be the latter...a darcy...which he is turning out to be

Ah, now that you have mentioned Darcy, I'll admit to being his ardent Phangirl, and not a failed one at that 😛
I wish we could have Pride and Prejudice in our course as well. That would be a dream come true. We have just had- A Little Princess, Little Women and Jane Eyre as yet. Wuthering Heights is the best to date, IMO!

Yes, Arnav clearly reminds me of Darcy...hope he continues to do so.

i think the major problem with the forum these days is this-

😆 Anyway, wonderful post rima. I whole heartedly agree. And the people who scream themselves out on ' This is just fiction!' should not forget the same when they busy themselves with contemplating just how ecstatic would a married life with ASR be...irony much??

I love classics! Sure, I'd search for it as soon as I get over with my Literature assignment 😊
By the way, have you seen that Wuthering Heights movie starring Ralph Fiennes? It has to be the BEST one, such proficient acting, such gripping direction! My whole class was literally touched to the core watching it on screen.

Hey Rima, a very thoughtful post. Gosh, we spend so much of our time thinking and analysing a fiction, a mere television show. Yet to some , we are not true, IPK fans.

The show caters to a younger audience. This audience usually catches the episodes on the internet. So one of the reasons why we have a poor TRP compared to other shows.

Secondly, it needs to widen its horizons. It is a hit with the younger crowd, it holds no appeal for the slightly older generation. I have many people working at my office, and we of course discuss different TV shows over our coffee breaks, I am yet to meet someone who watches IPK. (So now you know why I joined IF, to vent out my frustration about the show) .

It needs to widen its horizon. It has been limiting itself to the younger crowd. But by widening its horizon to cater to the needs of the larger audience, I am not implying that there should be the usual saut / saas- bahu tracks.

The mature audience wants a little more meat. By meat again I don't imply intimate scenes. The mature audience wants a logical treatment of the story. A story which is fast moving and a story where they could at least relate to the characters and their emotions.

It is very important for the audience to identify itself with the characters. Because that is what binds the audience to the show. the moment they stop identifying with characters; they stop watching the show. Because there isn't much to look forward to in the show for them

You can fool the audience once but you can't fool them always. You can't play with their emotions. Because as an audience they are investing not only their time but also their emotions. Once this trust is broken, it becomes hard to repair the bond. And audience nowadays is very fickle. It is almost impossible to stop the audience from touching the remote. It is almost impossible to get their attention specially with a wide selection being offered to cater to different needs of the audience.

The reason why the show appealed to all was because it catered to the fantasy of the audience. We all dream of a grand passion. A grand romance. And it hardly ever becomes true. So it catered to the inner need of the viewers of having a grand romance. And since they tend to identify with the characters, they were fulfilling their own dreams of having a grand passion. We all are actually living a dream here through the show, of being swept off our feet in love, of a love that conquers all, a romance of living happily ever after.

But with the change of tracks and unnecessary deviations, the show is now in a mess. It has lost its focus. It has lost its direction. The initial plot is somewhere lost in the many sub plots. Perhaps if the CVs try to stick to their original plot line, we might not lose everything and we might actually win all that is lost. Perhaps all is not lost, with the Cvs redeeming themselves with ASR's "I am sorry for everything, Khushi." Maybe they are taking baby steps before that giant leap forward. (And no I am definitely not talking about Ekta's generation leap here)😆
