Geet, I wrote this in Anna's thread on yesterday'
Yes, I was left feeling a bit incomplete after the episode, which was at the same time eminently rewatchable. Rewatchable because certain subtle indications and expressions come out on rewatching, which should not be the case. It should have been obvious at first glance itself. For example, it is not at all as if the family is disbelieving of Khushi. Watch Akash, Mami, and Nani carefully. They are finding it difficult to take in all the ugliness, especially Nani and Akash' as they had absolutely no idea.
Mami at least, it was obvious, was keeping an open mind. She did find Khushi convincing enough and she didn't like the way the DILs were reviled by Shyam. She is aware of their disinterest in wealth- remember the fancy dress competition? I personally don't think the "middle class girls out to trap the Raizada boys" excuse is going to come out now. If it does, then her handling of the Bubbly issue has no meaning and I will be very disappointed.
Nani was hurt when Khushi was blamed of being characterless. Her expression was more of shock than accusation. Check when NK clarified that Khushi lied to save Arnav; it was relief that there was an explanation. Even Mami showed a similar expression; at least she was willing to give it some thought.
Akash is a problem. This young man has an innate sense of fairness which is rather a rigid one. He is definitely not going to believe the husband trap accusation of Shyam. If anything, it is going to work against Shyam, when Akash has had some time to reflect. Akash knows how reluctant Payal was to wed him. He knows how traditional and well brought up both the Gupta girls are. But yes, he is going to blame Payal for not sharing such an important piece of information with him.
In my opinion Shyam went overboard with his defense. A cornered rat, and he fought dirty, and how! Poor Khushi was shredded! Let's take it step by step:
1. Khushi has been trying to attract him
2. At first she was subtle, later she started coming on to him strongly' (did you notice anjali's expression? There was no shock or anger against Khushi, only helplessness' why? Was it a blooper on the part of DB's acting? Or was it the reaction of a woman who is fast realizing that her innermost fears are coming true? Is she aware, subconsciously i.e., that her husband is not what he seems?)
3. I kept quiet for the sake of the family, but she became more and more shameless
4. Payal interrupts- and the family do note her righteous anger' this time no-one stopped her' advantage Gupta! Payal's revelations are received with shock, but the Raizadas have started connecting the dots. Seriously advantage the Guptas!
5. Anjali is about to faint. Her brother leads her away. Shyam stops them. For a husband who seemed nauseatingly fond of his wife, he showed himself pretty uncaring of her distress now, when his own skin was involved' again advantage the Guptas.
6. Shyam attacks Payal' asks for the engagement photos. No photos, because of Bauji's ill-health. Shyam mocks a sick man and his family's helplessness. Again he showed himself to be something he was not known to be. To the Raizada he had always been soft-spoken, gentle and caring. He was the Golden Damad. How can he talk so?
7. Now he starts attacking both the sisters in earnest. Here he starts slipping. Note the chronology of events:
a. Younger sister starts coming to the house on some pretext or the other
b. Gets a job in AR
c. Payash Roka, when Shyam met them for the first time
d. Buaji's pension problem
e. Begins hounding Shyam and
f. when they were unsuccessful, they trapped both the sons of the house
How is the last possible, when the roka had already happened? Trapped!
Coming to the Raizada husbands, I'll admit I was a trifle uncomfortable with the way ASR restrained himself for so long, before the slaps, but if it was a plan by ARHI, I'll give it a rest. As for ASR giving explanations and justifications' What crap!! He is ASR' PERIOD! Also the episode ended with Shyam being dragged away to the door. They might show something happening in between this and the door being finally shut in the face of Shyam Manohar Jha, which finally causes Anjali to faint' who knows, we can always hope right?
But yes, I was disappointed with Akash who didn't come to the rescue of his wife. But if the trust issue is coming to play now itself, then somehow, somewhere the Guptas had it coming.
