Hi everyone,
This is not related to the show, so mods might close it..but I needed to ask:

Someone close to me has just been diagnosed with the last stage of pancreatic cancer. My family is panicking. Someone we trust told us a fruit called Aathakka Pazam will definitely help. We don't know what it looks like, or if it is indeed common in Kerala.

Does anyone know anything about this?

I'll be very grateful for an answer.

Mods: I'm desperate, so I asked this question here-- I'm asking the info wherever I can and here I hope my IF family can help me. Please close it only if direly necessary.

aathakka pazham is custard apple.. sitaphal. the big pink variety, not the smaller green one.

or were you trying to say ethakka pazham, the big fat banana that you can cook?

yes our friend says it looks somewhat like sitaphal but thornier...can you send me a picture? is it available in Kerala?

Is it the same as what they call sitaphal up north? My keralite friend who talked about this fruit now lives abroad... :(

Dear Friend Aathakka pazham or Aathachakka is not Custard apple. Actual name is soursope fruit.

Though Soursop is an all-season fruit, in India it is available only is certain seasons (usually around January) in Crawford Market (Mumbai) or Godrej – Nature's Basket and can also be procured from Kerala. In Kerala the fruit is called "Aathakka pazham" or "aatha chakka" and over there I suppose the fruit is available throughout the year.
