When not under direct emotional pressure Khushi turns out to be one smart person! Weird way to start an update/post, but couldn't find any other suitable beginning from my mind and fingers. Okay, I'll stop rambling and get down to the smart episode.
Khushi has started using her charms, her knowledge about Shyam and her brain to make Shyam fall in his own pit. In the last episode she tells all to him, how she hates Arnav, how he humiliated her, made her and her family go through so much pain, and how she wanted all his money, wealth and property out of revenge.
I said that time that she had gone a bit too far with the 'revenge' part as Shyam would suspect her words, which he did. Knowing Khushi to be pure of heart and free of malice to others, Shyam suspected that something was off and laid a few plans to see if she really meant every word in that outburst.
Shyam however is unaware of the changed Arnav-Khushi equation, he is also unaware that Devi Maiyya is with her child Khushi now, and will be with her at every step of the way to rescue Arnav. The strength of Khushi lies within herself, in her love and in her prayers to Devi Maiyya. She has to just focus on those whenever she feels weak and she will receive enough motivation and courage to keep going on despite the odds just like the way she has kept going through all the bad moments of her life till now!
And why will Shyam care to think of the above? His path to ASR's wealth seems to be going smoothly (since he isn't worrying anymore about the 'Trust' clause), Khushiji asked him for 'his' help, she told him about his phone-call, and she turned and looked at him the way she looked at him the first time they met! (I feel really sad for Shyam as a lover, if he was a better person!) So, with all these nice-nice things happening in his life right now, his already puffed-up head is ready to float on the clouds of heaven while ignoring the thunder-clouds filled with acid rain that will soon weigh him down and bring him back to earth with a solid THUMP!
Shyam at first is a bit wary about Khushi asking for his help. He has been so used to being snubbed by her, her verbal attacks on him have never been pleasant, her special 'nazar' for him, and her love for not staying in the same room as him for more than 10 seconds have been engrained in him. So, this different version of Khushi, who actually comes and 'seeks' for 'his' help, coupled with a 'nazar' that conveyed something totally different from her usual one, and her confiding in him all the details regarding Arnav have, for the moment, put him in a happy place where everything is going according to the way he likes it!
Power, control, supremacy - they're all quite heady for those who hanker after them. It causes them to become slightly deluded about reality. They focus mostly on what gives them that sense of authority, and exert themselves over making the most of it! But Shyam - don't underestimate this man even now as Even now under the new-found power, he still has his now-on-now-off thinking cap on. Until Khushi deceives him completely, he is going to be careful and he will scrutinize her words and actions. His obsession for her received a slight boost today after she took him in her confidence, but that's not enough for a man like Shyam.
You see how annoyed he got when she said that she hates both him and Arnav? The rage of being compared to Arnav was brought out excellently by Abhaas Mehta. 👏 For Shyam, he has to be the ONLY one in Khushi's life. Whether she hates him or loves him, he has to be THE ONE. Remember his line in Friday's episode - "Hume laga ki aap sirf ek insaan se nafrat karti hai - hum!" Did you see and listen to the way he said that line? It was so full of pride and ego that 'he' was the only one to get some kind of 'special' attention from her, even if it was hate, so what, the fact that he held some space in her mind was enough for him!
Now, if that little was enough for him, then imagine once Khushi makes him believe that she is truly against ASR, and that she is completely comfortable with confiding in him, and that he still has a chance with her, what will that lead to? We know his downfall, but it would be great to see it unfold.
In all this though, Khushi has to keep her facade in place. One small slip-up on her part and Shyam may get an inkling about what she's up to. Remember, he may be obsessed about her, but he will still have his wary eyes on her.
It's good that Devi Maiyya is with Khushi. Even if she slips-up, Devi Maiyya will save her from Shyam's suspicions. Along with NK now, Khushi should be able to navigate the dangerous maze of Shyam's mind successfully. She has known him enough to understand that if there's one thing that Shyam immediately reacts to in a snap of a finger is when his love for her is slapped on his face. She used that at the right time today when he goes into soft-voice mode about his love for her and
she retorts saying that she hates both him (Shyam) and Arnav EQUALLY! What a way to get his goat!
What a way to attack right where it hurts most, and what a way to making your opponent expose his weakest weakness! Simply marvellous thinking!
And, if that was not enough, once you get to know how crucial your opponent's weakness is you go and play with it within seconds of his exposing it! Opportunist Khushi! 😉 A glance at him over the shoulder with weepy, soft and liquid eyes are all it takes for him to see a ray of hope beaming on him, what he doesn't know is that the 'ray of light' is actually ASR's laser sabre that will slice through him soon!
Besides ASR's wrath being unleashed on Shyam, a day will come when Anjali will get her turn too. I like the way they are showing glimpses of the hidden Anjali at certain moments. The Anjali we saw today is the controlling, possessive one who needs to know who is going where, with who, why and for what! It's great if she is kept in the loop or if she herself orders Shyam and Khushi to go somewhere together, but them going off together somewhere without telling her has roused her dominating shadow a bit today. If on Friday we saw the no-nonsense Anjali tackling Shyam about his lie, then today was another glimpse into the mystery of who Anjali really is! I'm looking forward to the unravelling of Anjali's character!
Khushie is a smart cookie. 😆 She is now adding 1+1 and getting 2 quite rightly! Devi Maiyya ki kripa se, she heard the same sound of the Mandir (Temple) bells and train playing in Anjali's room just like she heard it over the phone while talking to Arnav. Shyam's pride, head in clouds, and ambitious dreams should be given a medal for fumbling up with the CD! If this wasn't enough, then Shyam seemed to have overlooked the fact that Khushi might have met Mr. Roy before. Good fortune for Khushi since she knows Mr. Roy by face, having met him in the past, and knew immediately that the Temple Bells, Train sound and fake Mr. Roy are all of Shyam's plan to mislead her and test her authenticity. Shyam is laying banana peels on his own path and slipping on them! Khushi just needs to fill him with a daily dose of bananas to keep him peeling them off and then slipping on them! What a bruised ego he'll have by then end of it!
Ah now, the dream sequence. Let's start from where it began:
Khushi at the poolside, sorry, Khushi at 'their' poolside. The silent, calm, gentle, mirrored face of their precious moments is where Khushi stands and reflects on the intimate pieces of time that they shared. Diwali night, when he adorns her foot with her mother's payal, Diwali night near kiss when they lose themselves to their underlying fiery passion, shart-waali (bet) kiss placed by Arnav on her cheek.
Memories that manifested their desire for each other, the physical expressions of their love, the building proximity between them is what runs through her as she stands there at the edge of their pool, the placid water reflecting the turmoil, pain and anguish in her eyes.
She looks up at the stars, the symbols of her hope and ever-shining light in her life. Her parents blessings are with her, strengthening her, helping her find her way even as they are far far away from her. Arnav is smothered in darkness, however three bulbs just like stars hang close to him. (
Symbolism Note: Somehow the three bulbs reminded me of Khushi's suicide letter -
"daiyne se teesra chamakta hua sitaara." But here, I could see them as her parents and his mother, since they had shared a 'star' moment long back, with Khushi pointing out her parents in the sky, while Arnav looks for his mother as a star in the sky - Three of them as stars).
The three bulbs/stars just made me feel that Khushi's parents and Arnav's mother's blessings are with him when he is submerged in darkness, or it is a hint for future, when/if Khushi is harmed, Arnav will look to the stars/parents for guidance and help, or. It's just me over-decoding the bulbs 😆
This is what I was waiting for all along! No, not the dream sequence, but the exchange of main qualities between Arnav and Khushi! It had been building up slowly ever since the kidnapping happened, and I was waiting for them to show it properly! You know what this whole dream sequence reminded me of? Of course not, how will you know unless I tell you! Well, it reminded me of the Sangeet Dance performance – remember the time ASR corners Khushi when she's in the Madhuri Dixit costume?
What does ASR say then?
"Tum meri tarah ban hi nahi sakti, kyunki mujhe banne ke liye jo cheez chahiye, voh tumhaari paas hai nahi… Dimaagh!"
And what does Khushi say in reply to that?
"Hum kabhi aap jaise banenge bhi nahin kyunki aapke paas who nahi hai jo humaare paas hai… Dil!"
Aur aaj kya hua? Bolo, bolo! Exchange hua na, dimaagh aur dil ka!! 😊
While on one hand we have Khushi using her brains to tackle Shyam's manoeuvrings, and searching for Arnav, over there we have Arnav who thinks of Khushi first. Khushi is sure emotional over Arnav being kidnapped by Shyam, but seems like Maamiji's advice of not being emotional at such a time is working quite well with Khushi. Arnav on the other hand tried desperately to get out of the den, but when opportunity presents itself, he first calls Khushi instead of any other source of help that will get him out in a jiffy!
The dream sequence too was from Arnav's point of view. I admit that from a technical stand it looked very rushed and abrupt in places, the flow, intensity and magic was definitely missing, but from the character's point of view it was fine.
I could sense ASR/Arnav who desired to ehm, get a bit touchy with his love and that's why the revealing outfit, could hardly see if she wore a skirt down... okay I'll shut my mouth on those topics. 😉
The longing to be with her, the pain of missing her presence, the desire to have her in his arms, and the dread of losing her over and over again portrayed the lover Arnav in this scene. I actually liked the way she kept moving away from him, almost like something keeps drawing them apart, but she's the one who walks back to him each time, almost like Devi Maiyya knowing that this hurt guy needs Khushi in his life to alleviate that deep pain, and so keeps sending her back to him.
If there's one thing Arnav fears, it's the fear of losing people he loves. Khushi leaving his side time and again brought forward that fear in his eyes, the hurt in his features wondering why life was being so cruel to him. Whenever she went back to him, he held her, feeling the security of love that she brings to him, touching the soul of peace and serenity that calms his troubled heart, sensing her gentle ways with him, and her soothing presence to heal him.
She enters with a smile on her lips but leaves with sadness in her eyes. Hint for the future? They will come together, for a short period of time, but she will leave him reluctantly. Because of Anjali? The way she left was like she didn't want to go but because she had to since it was the right thing to do!
As Arnav gets out of his dream, he realizes that Khushi isn't there with him and he yells out her name almost like he feels he has lost her! Reminded me of the time at GH (Gupta House) where he awakes with a start by saying 'Khushi'. Their connection runs deeper than they think and know, so deep is it that his scared, longing cry to her reaches her heart. She is startled and looks around worriedly knowing that all is not well with her Arnavji. This occurrence will only spur her on to warm Shyam up without any delay and get to Arnav as soon as possible.
I started on the note that, Khushi when not under direct emotional pressure, turns out to be smart. I'll end it with: Khushi when under direct emotional pressure mostly rushes blindly ahead. When it comes to Arnavji, her emotions are always at their highest levels, she has to contain them however and subdue them for now, or else Shyam will be alerted toward her actions.
One last thing, both Shyam and NK say 'bahut jald' in their dialogues - hint to us that this MU is going to be wrapped up 'bahut jald'. About time I would say, kab se intezaar kar rahe hai hum log!!
