LOL, man! Your post is funny, but I know it has substance too.. Because believe me, even I came across some FFs written like that! I mean, I can read a story if it has a few grammatical errors and small mistakes. I correct them mentally, and read on. But like this, God! This would be nightmarish!

Also, I can't read when there are too many colors, or the font is too big. My eyes just don't adjust! And I don't even have glasses! The font that you used to write this er.. rant, (:P), I think that is the best. The correct size, the right font. There's some seriousness in there, that urges you to read!

Now don't think I am insanely proud, because I have made mistakes while writing, many mistakes. And sometimes when I'm going through my own work when I'm jobless, (:P), I rectify whatever mistakes I find.

See, in the end, the idea is to put forth your idea of the way things should go on. So basically, you're communicating to your reader, and if the reader does not get what you're trying to tell them, well.. Then it defies the whole point! Doesn't it? :)

Appy! :)

I also think it's a detriment to them.
If you have a fabulous story to tell but the type of typing so to say suggests a 13 year old has written it then it just puts me off as a reader.
But each to their own, I hate writing lik dis, evn in txts nd it irritates so many of my friends but it's out of habit.
HOWEVER though I feel for people who type fast and miss words or have incorrect spelling, I do it too many times. *facepalm* Plus it's worse on my phone with its predictive texts.

So basically, if you want to read the story, you have have stick it out sweets!

I also think, there are a lot of kids on the forum, no doubt, who aren't accustomed to typing English or speaking it daily, not their first language so in a way I understand they're reasoning,

I guess with time they'll improve, no?

Wowiee nice temper eh! Yes I agree its highly frustating to read typos that dosen't even make sense half the time..
And second you with such stuff promising stories become haunted dreams to carry like burden on your shoulder.
Empathize with your temper. And my latest task woud be reading your work! I'm dying to give my cc [constructive criticizm] hehehehehe LOL. Well dun buzz out one me eh!
Keep Posted and yep calm down.

I always sound really angry on the internet when honestly, while writing, I'm usually laughing to myself. I'm just so shkffncsb at the situation. And hey, at least I am not ranting about Body Doubles/ Barun's Absence 😉

Hahahah yeah I guess. But when I really like a story, I always leave really long, deep and considered feedback. Surely that would make their burden seem more worthwhile? 😆 But if I can't read it, I can't comment on it. I'm not mean enough to write something bad. Despite what my rant may make it look like, I don't want to discourage people from writing. And people get offended so easily. Who knows they may be like "arisai said I can't write therefore FINE, I won't write."

Except more like "ar1sa1 s3d 1 cnt ryt so FYN 1 WNT! R U HAPP33 Nw? u dnt knw m4 lyf! i dnt hv TYM 2 typ eet a11. y r u sch a H8ER?!"

Thank you for that rant.
It was much needed.
I try to forebear from giving advice on grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence formation, conjugation, etc., though of course, I occasionally slip up - I am human!
But like you, I too, steer clear of the shorthand/instant message writing.
It gives me a headache to even try to decipher it.
Writing is an art, and while I do understand that creativity is expressed in many ways, including apparently, internet shorthand, this is one art form that usually does not have many takers when it comes to creative writing, or when one needs their work to be taken seriously.

Considering that almost everyone on this forum would like their thoughts/mails/posts etc. read it might behoove them to actually make the effort to write.
It will do wonders for their general conversational/writing skills in their 'real' life, too.

0mg, diz post iz lyk da bst post eya bwt da ryt grama n dat bro.

Jokes aside, this post made my day! Never mind FF's, if the grammar and spelling isn't sound in a post, I find it very hard to take seriously. You can distinguish innocent spelling mistakes, which are pretty minor-hey! it happens, I probably make mistakes too, but you can spot glaringly obvious errors in other posts. I hate to sound condescending because English is my first language, but this is one pet peeve of mine. As Ouma says, I don't even write like that when typing texts, writing properly is what I prefer.

Still no one's perfect, hopefully time and experience will make people better writers, especially if their first language isn't English.

PS. I love your blog, I've been taken to recently stalking it often...your entry about your 'rain scene' was hilarious.

Gehri saas lo... In essence, I agree with what you're saying. I'm a grammar freak when it comes to writing, and if I see something typed like that it's an instant turn-off. No matter how amazing the story is I will not read it. If I make a typo in my writing I get incredibly frustrated, and I ensure that I use proper English when I write. I understand that some do not understand English or have issues with it, but when people write L1k€ d!$, I just do not read their writing no matter how much I want to.

I may be sounding like really finicky about these things...but normally I skip if the font and the colour is something that makes it hard for me to read. Or if the entire post is in capital letters. Or if the punctuation is totally out of the place and mentally I have to re-read the sentence to see what they meant by it. Punctuation is important people!

Examples:

Lets eat Grandpa

as opposed to:

Let's eat, Grandpa.

Punctuation can save lives.

ahaha lol. I am a bit of a grammar freak (though my own it far from perfect) but here I take it easy on the caps, etc. I just don't like the text lingo.
