Another one bites the dust! Or does it!? 😛

Ok, so it didn't quite have the impact that I was expecting, but then again, I should have known better than to buy into all the hype and allow myself to hold such high expectations! And in all fairness, it was a half decent episode which served two main purposes: Sobti's absence and garnering TRPs. Everything else came secondary. All in all a filler of an episode, but one which caused a great deal of havoc! 😆

Like any other episode, there were a few things that clicked and a few things that didn't. The things that clicked were superbly amazing, but the things that didn't were just damn irritating! Ah well, you know what they say: you win some and you lose some...

The jugnu (firefly) scene - Loved this scene. Not only was it well executed, but it also provided a glimmer of hope for our young couple. Symbolically, the reference to fireflies reminded me very much of the Japanese animated war tragedy: Hotaru no Haka. Bit random, I know! But the beauty of the aforementioned film alludes to the firefly as being another symbol of the emphermerality of life; the idea that life is far too short to live in constant fear and darkness. I believe the insects themselves are short lived and eventually die out along with their glow. When the firefly escaped out the window, it took the guiding light with it - Barun and Sanaya were brilliant in this scene, their expressions mirrored the woe and pain of the situation they find themselves in. interestingly, watching fireflies is also known to be a summer time family tradition. Surely this then evokes the bond between Arnav and Khushi, but at the same time, it also emphasises their isolation due to the absence of their parents and their existing family. Throughout the whole episode, the spotlight was kept on them and the surrounding darkness they find themselves trapped in.

Barun's majnu look - Lol, no, I don't mean the bushy hair and the bare chested - phatti shirt type of look!

I mean his loving gazes which showed his longing for Khushi; and we had a lot of it today! Hot damn. As with a lot of episodes, Barun nailed it again for me with his expressions. His longing for Khushi was evident in today's episode, as was his bashfulness. The scene where he caught himself gazing at Khushi from behind the pardah was beautifully captured. His expressions were both loving and desirous at the same time, yet he also sat very timidly at one point, shying away from the lustful image - loved it!

What I also loved about both Sobti and Irani's expressions today is that subtle hint of restlessness and trepidation they brought out when Arnav began his trademark predatory walk towards Khushi. On one end, they're trapped by their uncontrollable desire for one another, yet on the other; they find themselves confronting the fear of their past anxieties - heightened by the web of misunderstanding which still remains somewhat hanging.

It terms of acting, it was Barun who topped it for me this episode. Sanaya also had her moments, but there were times where I just felt confused by her expressions. I do however applaud her acting in the beginning scenes when she was reluctant to let Arnav leave her side for even a minute. Unfortunately, she just wasn't consistent enough.

Saiyaan - What a choice of song!!! And I think we can all thank Bush for recommending it in the first place! Loved it! It really has a sufi vibe to it, both soulful and spiritually uplifting. And although I was looking forward to hearing the "Tu hi bata mere maula" track, I think this song complimented the scenes perfectly.

The goons on the run - Loved it; more so for the comic relief and the bouncing "moobs" -Thanks Bush, there's an image I won't be able to get rid of easily!

Arnav walloping Khushi - I was cringing when I first heard that Arnav would whack Khushi across the head with a stick; my initial reaction, and I kid you not, was "what the..."

But having watched the episode, I must say, it was quite an original way of getting the girl to do as she's told! Sure it might cause some dizziness and what not, but it sure beats the traditional way of giving the girl one tight tamacha to either shut her up or to bring her to her senses - which is just plain humiliating! Lol strangely enough, I find the whack around the head a lot more humane- there's insane logic for you, if ever there was any!

Considering not much happened during this episode, lol there sure are a lot of things that worked for me. Alas, there were also a lot of things that didn't!

Arhi chemistry - I hear what some of you are saying - the passion and intensity felt a bit flat. I absolutely agree - but only to some extent. This is where I think I brought into a lot of the hype. Had I not, I think I would have been absolutely fine with today's episode. However, the only reason I felt the chemistry was missing was due to the overuse of body doubles. It was clear that many of the scenes were shot separately, with either Irani's BD having her back to us, or Sobti's. And this became glaringly obvious as the episode went on.

And I tried, oh how I tried to ignore it. Lol but the more I tried, the more obvious it became. The scene where Arnav was hovering over Khushi, after he had placed her on the haystack, was one scene where not only Sanaya's expressions fell flat, but Barun's BD was also annoyingly obvious. Just when I thought they were doing a good job of hiding this body double, I had to go and notice his bloody side burns, and how different they were to Sobti's. Then one thing lead to another. I started noticing difference in physique, body hair and the tone of skin!! I seriously think Sobti's BD needs to join the gym and create some biceps of his own - especially if he wants to be convincing in his role!

That could be one of the main reasons as to why Sanaya was not up to par, but I'm afraid I still can't use that to justify her lack of expression. She's an actress; she should be able to feign chemistry with whoever is in front of her, especially since she's had time to grow into her role as Khushi.

As for their passionate scene, to be honest, I was ok with how they left it. Even though the execution of it was just about average - Yes, it could have been longer, yes it could have been directed a lot better- but knowing the circumstantial difficulties (with Sobti's absence, the vagueness of the track and the extensive use of BDs) I'm okay if they hold out on the intimacy for the time being. At least until they return to normality. I don't think I could have handled any more of the awkwardness presented by the BDs. Plus, such scenes should not be touched by anyone but Sobti and Sanaya ' they belong in the same screen shot! Please drama gods ' let's have them reunite, once and for all, and on the same platform!

The kiss that never happened! ' A kiss on the neck!? Really? Lol, how come I never saw it? And even if I did, it did nothing for me whatsoever! And I'm sure a BD was used here as well, which didn't help at all. In all honesty, I could have done without it completely. It didn't bring about any intensity, it didn't do anything for the plot and it sure didn't do anything for the chemistry! One thing it did perhaps do, is help raise the fan base of hyperactive teens, phangirls who crave nonsensical romance at any given opportunity, and scream in front of the T.V. when done so ' lol you know the ones I'm talking about. It was an unexpected but dissatisfying moment; one which was saved by Sobti's intense gazing prior to it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally...I'm done ranting! Lol, it's been quite an eventful weekend hasn't it - full of expectations to say the least. Chalo, let's see what tomorrow brings! 😆

Kudos to all who've updated their posts - I'm going to enjoy reading them all! 😉

Very well written!!..😃. You are right , the BD's were just one of the many things wrong with the scene
