Firstly TANT I would like to thank you for picking this title!!!!
Mr. Hegde is about to get a piece of my mind, humour marke!!!
Ok so I read the little rant and first I was just amazed at how not tuned into the world this dude is. Last year I took a course on creative writing, and had so much fun. I wrote a couple of short stories too but I don't think they are any good so I stuck them in my writing journal. No one is allowed to say anything bad about them because I don't show them to anyone. So I say this to anyone who wants to be in career that requires other people to tune in, be ready for criticism!!! I mean they say if you can't stand the heat GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN!!!
So what is my problem with the tone of the message...that it was a rant, on FB a social media site, where tones of people invest hours and hours making vm's, writing stories, spreading gossip basically keeping ipkknd alive in the wired world. Let me just tell you the likes of JK ROWLING ( The author of a little know series Harry Potter, Multi BILLIONAIRE and marketing guru) kept the fervor of the series going through social media, even now she is trying to start an website that will give the readers and fans an interactive experience.
So why do I have a problem with such a rant??? Because you cannot afford to make such a marketing blunder BLUNDER in this day an age. Tell me how many fans of SP's top rated shows watch the show then spend hrs online analysing and talking about what they loved and what they hated??? And quite frankly all those sad stories sounded so absurd, I should feel sorry for you because you worked hard and forgive you all the mistakes? Why? Give me a good reason and because I work hard doesn't cut it. You need to understand your fans have stood by you during two months of absolute craziness, and are still here inspite of Barun's absence.
And telling your audience not to take your show too seriously??? Why would you do that, Shyam's dialogue "Apne pere peh kuladi" fits quite aptely here... ( I expect someone from the PH to aplogize). Would you like to know how PR is done. EXHIBIT A : the production house of Barun's new movie. Some one from IF wrote to them and they took the time to sooth her fears about Barun's return, they even responded twice to her queries. Then Barun gives an interview. What are they doing... making sure as hell that they don't piss off the audience. Who is your biggest cash cow. YOUR VERY INVESTED AUDIENCE!!!!
So I suggest next time you want to take out your baadass you visit the gym.
Now for the really important point: IPKKND is the only show that gets the audience riled up, this is not a bad thing at all. If ever you are negotiating with the channel print out all of these threads and take it to them show them, that you hold their future in your show, believe me IPKKND is a gold mine. It has engaged the international audiences and is not completely in the red with Indian audience. In short GOLD MINE!!!
I do understand that it is a tight rope that you walk, how do you satisfy all, especially when you have such a wide spread demographic, when the channel is aiming at one mkt and you are attracting another. But that doesn't mean that you take out your frustration on fans or supporters of the show. Where the hell was the PH at this time, did they think this was a good idea? You guys need a social media strategist asap!!!
I normally come here to analyze the episode, see what others thought about it, see what I missed. But here I am consulting for the PH on a PR strategy, I'll send you my bill. Oh wait you have budget issues or else the cast would have better wardrobes ( kidding couldn't resist the jab)
Now I'll get back to why I come to this page to analyze the episode, but after reading the post from Mr. Hegde I am so agitated that I forget my thoughts on the episode.
All I can say is... Khushi's love is runeth over!!!
Yesterday she boldly informs Shyam," do you really not know the reason", I did a double take, and then clapped almost. For the longest time I have wanted Khushi to stand up to Shyam and all of his advances. For the first time she did, and in a way even I couldn't imagine. Man she hit him where it would hurt the most, HIS BIG FAT EGO!!!đđđ.
Today she did it again, a lie about buying something for Arnav, but she had a small smile when she thought about her lie, like she would have loved to be doing just that. BRILLANT SANAYA!!! The entire family knows that she cares and oh how much. Shyam is reluctantly opening his eyes. His dreams of having her are breaking in the cold harsh reality of the fact that she is his sister- in - law.
I loved the new pair of mami and Khushi. A track that puts the two people with the best comic timing together can only lead to the best laughs!!! I love the "I will find a way" attitude of Khushi, this is the girl we love, the one who has so many ideas running through her head, one doesn't work then there is another. Though I just don't get why she has to do everything by herself. I hope this ends when she and Arnav get together and they can both share each other's burdens.
And finally...
ADVICE TO THE CV's ( did you think I was going to stop its going to take more than a ranting Hegde)
Yesterday was a sad day on the REDUX thread, one of the guru's decided to stop analyzing. She mentioned that the change in the track did not appeal to her. Why is this important to you, because this person has immense power to influence many people with her online opinions. If she is dissatisfied, ( and by no means did she hint at why she very eloquently stepped back ) it means you must I mean MUST think about your decisions more.
You may ask why is it important to take in the opinions of fans ... well let me tell you Hollywood has been doing it for years. One example which I love to quote is Fatal ATTRACTION it won an academy award for Glen Close but the ending was changed because the producers polled an audience and were not satisfied with the result. How effective was this movie, in the year it was released the infidelity rate in the US fell, now that is what you call effective use of a medium.
Ironically, the theme of IPKKND is also infidelity. I do not want to see Shyam in a redemption track, you have shown us how black his soul is. I especially do not want to see Anjali in the dark about his antics. SHE NEEDS TO FIND OUT AND ACT ACCORDINGLY. On the one hand you show us how strong and modern girls, kindly do the same for Anjali's character. You know they say HELL HANT NO FURY LIKE A WOMAN'S SCORN. I'm hoping IPKKND will have its Satyameva Jayate moment !!!
I do know that you walk a tight rope, with the channel, and the national and international audiences, I do appreciate you trying to please everyone, however that never works. I some how feel like after the Star Parivaar Awards, IPKKND has come under the SP radar and they want a hand to run the show ( speculation). All I can advise you to do is negotiate hard, and remember that going back to the roots of the show is what is important, the essence of it. I don't need to tell you what that is, you showed it to us. I just know when it there and when it isn't.
Sanaya, Khushi can't say "phone" but she can say "Scotland", I'm nitpicking, normally you are so flawless that this one stood out for me. Also how come you guys used dectective in English not Hindi, I only ask because my Hindi has improved so much since I started watching IPKKND, and I quite enjoy the shudh Hindi wordsđ.

Disclaimer: This post is meant to sooth my outburst of impatience with the lack of tact used when addressing the members of the fan base. These are my personal opinions which I am entitled to have and share accordingly ( PRETTY SURE WE ALL LIVE IN A FREE COUNTRY(ies)). The end goal is the fact that IPKKND should rule the TRP charts and every award show. I do appreciate the hard work of the cast and crew however if you expect me to digust sub-standard work and not scream bloody hell, you can forget about it.( And you should be glad I'm not going to stop!!)
