Right here waiting for you.
Arnav singh raizada aged 26 was what you called handsome. He was tall; well build, with striking sharp features. The son of successful businessman Adarsh Singh Raizada and bestseller author Sadhana Raizada. As only child, Arnav was naturally the heir of the Raizada Fashion house. He had just returned from Harvard, where he did his MBA, ready to take over the throne. Obviously, not everything, but he was ready to help his dad out as much he could.
He had everything what one could possibly dream off. But then life wouldn't be life, the one thing he really wanted the most he could not have. It was in front of his eyes but still out of his reach.
He stood near the mandap, watching her getting married. His best friend whom he had known since childhood; khushi kumari gupta, she was getting married to NK an NRI from UK. She looked like a dream, dressed in a deep red saree with silver work on it. No, she was nothing like those typical brides, not decked up like a Christmas tree; she was dressed simple with minimal make-up and minimal jewelry.
Her arms were almost bare except two kangans were adorning her wrist. Arnav smiled when he noticed the little ring and the bracelet. He smiled. It showed how much they meant to each other. He felt happy inside, but soon sadness and pain took over.
He had gifted her the friendship ring on her tenth birthday. He had saved all his pocket money to buy her the ring. And boy o boy some time it had taken him as arnav most of the times used his pocket money to treat his best friend and him some yummy ice cream.
Khushi had promised him to wear it always; of course, the ring now did not fit, as it was too small. That is why she had linked the ring with her bracelet. This way she could always carry it with her. The symbol of their friendship. The bracelet, also a gift from arnav for her 18th birthday. A simple golden one with pink, light green and light blue stones set in.
They say sometimes you do not realize what you have and how precious it is, until you lose it.
It was time for the saath phere, before khushi put her hand in Nk's hand she looked up at arnav, something troubled him, she could sense it. But what, she didn't know. Since he had come back home, he had behaved a little bit differently. As if, he was hurting. Maybe as his relationship with his long time girlfriend lavanya did not work out. When arnav caught her looking at him with a worried expression, he gave her a reassuring smile. As to say, nothing was wrong. Khushi smiled back, even though not fully satisfied. However, she had better things to do at the moment, like getting married.
As young girl, she always had wanted to marry. There was something fascinating about it. It was exciting. Moreover, today was the day she had been looking forward to all her life. Even, if it was not with her prince charming. No her prince charming was never meant to be hers. She put her hand in NK's and slowly started circling the holy fire. With each step, each round she promised to fulfill all the duties of a wife and to be a love NK in sickness and in health.
"The greatest pain that comes from love is loving someone you can never have"
Khushi did love NK, but not as much as him. But then she couldn't love anyone as much as him not even NK, ow wait there was one exception to that rule, her best friend. She loved him dearly and she knew he did too. He was her life and she was his. A tear escaped her eyes. Even though she was happy getting married, she could not help but feel sad. When finally Arnav came back home after 5 years, she was the one leaving.
Arnav had seen the worry in her eyes. Immediately he had given her a full-blown smile although it did not reach his eyes. He knew she was not convinced fully. What could he do? How could he pretend in front of her, who knows him inside out?
"It takes a couple seconds to say Hello, but forever to say Goodbye".
His hand unconsciously balled in a fist, when khushi took the phere together with NK, crushing the flower petals he was holding. So this was it, thought Arnav sadly. khushi belonged to NK now. She would go away. Leave him alone.
He watched the newly wedded couple taking blessings from all the elders. A tear trickled down his cheek. He immediately turned his head away; he looked up when he felt a feather light touch wiping his tears away. Khushi was shaking her head, while a tear escaped her eyes too. Arnav instantly took khushi in a hug. Both the friends hugging each other as if their life depended on this one hug. Arnav broke the hug and wiped khushi's tears away. He kissed her forehead. Grabbing her hand he placed placed it in NK's hand. He attempted a smile although feebly.
I took for granted, all the times
That I thought would last somehow
I hear the laughter, I taste the tears
But I can't get near you now
It was time for the bidaai, Khushi was leaving, leaving her own house her parents, leaving behind all those wonderful memories of her childhood which she had spent with him. Nevertheless, most important of all, she was leaving him '.
He stood at the door, watching her being led to the car. He was afraid he would break down if he went near the car. Therefore, he stayed at a safe distance. It was time to leave ' Before she sat in the car; Khushi looked around, her eyes searching for one person. There he stood leaning against the doorframe. When their eyes met, she could see the promise in his eyes, to be there always for her.
Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you
Waiting for you
You can close your eyes to things you don't want to see, but you can't close your heart to things you don't want to feel.
