We know it dear but does he???😊
ASR died a painful death that day when he saw two people on the terrace...not just because one of it was his brother in law come close family
BUT because the other person he was was someone whom ASR lost himself to😳...the love of his life...or rather his life...Khushi
And ASR got a new life that day when he held a bhaang drunk girl in his arms😳...the love of his life...or rather his life...Khushi

Believe me, thousands( if not millions) of us died and lived again with Arnav.😊

Now on the other hand...where is the critical love when it comes to Khushi...the way things seem to often be headed ...Khushi needs an antacid...not ASR😆😆...When are we going to see a scene or two when Kushi tells herself that she loves him?

Have we not seen several such scenes, as early as when ASR goes to La's house to get her back and is hugging her, is that not love and pain in Khushi's eyes, which ASR notices as well. The pain in her eyes when Arnav announces his engagement to La, did she not die a death that day???

How many times in the past have we not seen her thinking of Arnav, when she was being forced to get engaged to Shyam, even when the toad was putting the ring on her finger.
The terrace scene itself, Khushi very well knew why she was going up to the terrace, would she have gone if she didn't know her own heart???

Even when Arnav is mean and cruel to her she has always defended him in front of his family, is that not love, however misguided it may be.
One of my best scenes so far in this serial was when ASR and Khushi both look up at the skies and remember their parents...now that was a scene I would love to have with my soulmate or partner😳...simple yet emotionally connected...😳

Beautiful post and @bold above Beautiful scene indeed, hats off to the director, camera person and the actor for pulling that off. 😊

Hey JW!!! Beautiful post.

Nope - love does not have to be tragic in REAL life to be great but I think in REEL life, to compel the viewer they throw it in so that we can feast our eyes on the lows of life and how unconditional and strong a love can be. In literature - where TRP aunty does not exist - sweeping love stories are always about unconditional love in the midst of dire circumstances and so unconditional - that the individuals are willing to sacrifice this living world to preserve their love from the taint of others. This is not happening in IPK but the peaks and valleys are. The one thing that I like you have questions about is that UNCONDITIONAL love piece - that is inherent in making the love story great. And I would tend to agree - the missing link here is Khushi.

We have seen ASR battle himself, his attraction, despise himself and her for this feeling of out of control behavior that she makes him feel. He finally put a name to it, he finally realized that she made him feel like no one else, he ended it with La for said reason. I really wonder what would have happened if they had continued their 'farak padta hai' original track because that is where it got lost. Comedy in December reigned supreme, yet still we were shown glimpses of his care and his thoughts surrounding her and her pagalpan. Everything bloomed for him during the sangeet and afterwards up until the terrace. Yet, even afterwards, in all the rage, what fueled him more was that he in fact fell in love with this person who he thought was a cheater and he lashed out because he could not stop feeling for her. And finally, glorious holi where we found out that cruelties, MU's and family aside, farak padta hain still and it was a two way street.

But with Kh - it's like a switch. She turned it off after Diwali. She was hurt and would not be open to him. But once her heart started dhak dhaking after the sangeet, after she ran to the terrace her heart full of hope to what she expected Arnav to tell her - we don't see the same conflict in her in the aftermath. She reacts to his cruelty, she reacts to the family. But not once have the CVs given her the same 5 mins, 10 mins to reflect that she still has feelings for him and she should stop it, how does she stop it??? The holi revelation was beautiful, but when were we given an inkling that she was still dhak dhaking for him. Even now, through all of this - we get a few moments that are far and few between of her caring - but then we don't get the, he is so horrible to me, why am I bothering?? I should hate him - but I don't, what is wrong with me. It almost seems like the story - in cliche pattern for SP - will go forward only when Khushi is told that ASR loves her...then she will reciprocate.
Reciprocation when acknowledged is fine - self denial is another. That's why I relished that moment this week when she heard him even though it was silent. The connection from her side needs to be shown - because we know he digs on her...rabba ve's are broken by her, not him.

sorry - I kind of just went on and on.

@bold Just echoes my thoughts. And u r so right abt the SP stamp here. Its always the guy who has to realise first, then confess & then only can the story move forward.
We blame Arnav fr always stopping mid-sentence when he says 'farak padta hai dammit kyunki...' But what abt Khushi when she says ' aap woh insaan hain jisse hum...'
We definitely need to see sm monologues frm Khushi to understand her emotions regarding Arnav. Last week, all her thoughts were focused on how to irritate him.

Hey thanks😃
Well the above is your view and I respect that
There are many people who love the person thier my life ...but if i have to give it up for the person who gave me the life they would do that ...you you give a chance to consider this perspective you would not find it difficult to find many people around you who marry against their wishes even if they desperately love someone...or who give up careers because they have a ailing parent or child...
I think he does love her now...no matter how much the famed hatred want to be shown...there are enough glimpses of why and for whom his heart beat.
By denying himself Khushi...he is denying himself his own life.
Cheers!

Khushi is a child-woman who has not sorted through her feelings for ASR. She loves him, but does not realize that what she feels for him is love. Her feelings and emotions for him were always rejected, rebuffed and shattered with force by ASR, so I can see why she is afraid of exploring the full extent of her feelings for him, lest she discover she truly loves him only be to rejected by him again. This is what I had hoped to see in Khushi's characterization and this is what CVs led upto LA exit. After that, the comedy bug bit their butts and they destroyed khushi's character.

As for ASR, he felt out of control when khushi was around and that was the single biggest reason for his hatred for khushi. She made him feel things he did not want to feel because those feelings were never organized, systematic and neatly ordered like the rest of his life. ASR realized that the mess that khushi created in his mind was indeed love and he was willing to explore that when the terrace scene slapped him on his face. Now, I would have expected him to hurt her, and tell her that he knows she is a gold digger because he saw what she did with shyam and then he would have refused to hear her side of the story or her justifications for the terrace scene or her explanations for hiding the shyam truth. The forced marriage could have happened then too. But the CVs destroyed his character by making him dumb, unquestioning and non-inquisitive of the issue facing his sisters life.

Now, they want us to believe that this is real tragedy designed to build trust and love between the leads and I wonder, why I am having trouble believing the story.

Long answer to a question you didn't ask LOL.

Love does not need to be tragic, love is defined by small everyday gestures, considerations and small sacrifices, it does not need large, eventful and magnanimous gestures to show its worth.

hey many thanks serialjunkie😃
I do get the point till the time that Khushi has not sorted out her feelings...As to her not identifying its love...thats a stretch😳...at least to me given that she could identify Payal and Akash were in love or Anjali is in love...
You are right that her feelings were shattered by ASR...in the same breath there are quite a few things that ASR has done for her too...right from saving her father's life to taking care of her in Nainital to just simple gestures like the bangles he gave her...As you rightly said in the bold when it come to him, that is what he has done...shown the love through the simple yet emphatic gestures towards her...😳
What we need therefore is a few scenes, to show that she loves him but is scared of being rejected.
the two steps forward one step backward that the CVs are doing with the story does not help...perhaps I relate more to ASR's love precisely because of what you said...he recognises it...they have shown more scenes of him being aware of it...they need to equally focus on Khushi's part of the storyboard when it comes to tehir love.
Cheers!😃

..as always great post..yes I dont want a tragedy here.. I want happy love story too..with both of them uniting to fight against evil shyam.. wishful thinking..😛
Having said that I do agree that show focusses more on ASR love..but I dont think it is one sided love.. reason being that khushi has time and again responded whenever he gestured his love..with equal love coming from her as well..yes it is shown very subtly... but it is dere..she did expect him to reveal his heart to her two times..one on diwali and other at payal's wedding both time.. he has ruthlessly broken her heart...so it is understandable if she keeps a check on her feelings..However she does keep on looking for slight love in his eyes..moment it is there she is on top of world..here I remember her getting first gift from ASR..bangles..she did get from NK as well.. but first gift from the man she loves really made her day..all the while waiting for him on terrace she is excited thinking he will finally tell her...bt instead that very man forced her to marry him without giving any reason.. previous episodes did have a concerned khushi back..concerned for his well being..but I agree that her character is not that strongly depicted..one day she is bubly and childish and other day she is sensible woman... but she definately loves him dear..that love will shine through when he will break down learning her innocence..Seeing him like that will break her too...(if CVs wish so)😆
We should also understand that viewers know real ASR..she is trying to figure him out..may be she will love him more when she completely understand arnav as well as ASR side of this man..It is difficult to love him..as it was difficult for him to even understand his love

Hey nice post!

I agree the love does not have to be tragic but obviously elements of tragedy and separation will have to be woven to make the subsequent coming together that much more dramatic and emotional. I would hate for a tragic ending though coz there is certainly an element of escapism that we seek in a story.

I have sometimes questioned why I am so concerned with fictional characters but then it's the same with a good book too isn't it? If we could watch for 30mins and then forget, then clearly it's not engaging enough. This one ofcourse goes beyond just engaging- atleast with me it's close to an addiction and obsession 😆

Right so after digressing and rambling back to the beloved arnav and Khushi. Sure she loves him too but his blow hot blow cold is not letting her get the right signals and following diwali she dared not hope only to find it's not close to being reciprocated and have her heart shattered. I agree that it cannot be that she does not know it's love when she keeps explaining the significance of all this to all
and sundry. As for Arnav, as the viewer I can see that he loves her; in fact much more than he cares to admit even to himself. For Khushi however, given the many volte-face of his character why should this seem as anything more than casual concern, ocassiobal goodness of heart and a fleeting attraction.

I am fine with having a MU as long as a similar time will then be spent showing the bonding, strengthening of love and romance. Right now what pisses me off is that any feelings of tenderness are all too quickly quashed. It's almost like the CVs are scared we might not be able to handle the intensity
😳

Anyway let's see what next week brings. The heer ranjha track is not creating much excitement. But the addiction will ensure I'll tune in

Cheers 😆 😆
