DAY 5
LOCATION: Lawyer's chamber: DELHI: INDIA
Time: 12.00 NOON
Khushi enters the lawyer chamber calmly. She looks at the papers on the table.
Khushi: "Mr.Gomez. Thanks for meeting me in such short notice. I got your address from Amanji. My mother is very sick and I have to attend to her today. I will be deeply appreciative if you can keep this meeting to yourself. As per the instructions, I can only collect the money after signing this document, right? And after the money is deposited in my own account I can use the money. Correct?
Tomorrow is a weekend. So it will take 1-3 days for the check to get cleared and money to be deposited. If I sign today, I can get the check and go to my mom's. So I want to end this a few days ahead of time.
One more thing: if you kindly notify Mr Raizada about me signing the divorce papers after 1-2 days it will be a big help for me. I do not wish to deal with him as I am already tensed about my mother. Please Mr Gomez, please agree to these two simple requests."
"Did Mr Raizada see these papers? Did he read this?"
Mr. Gomez explains that Arnav sir has read the paper and its terms. It was a six month contract marriage and she will leave him and his family for good. She is not to contact him or his family under any circumstances: after both parties have signed.
Mr. Gomez looks at Khushi, trying to read her face. But her face is completely blank. There is no sorrow, no tension, and no remorse about the Divorce getting finalized.
Mr. Gomez: "Do you want to know if Mr Raizada has already signed the paper?"
Khushi nods her head and says " NO". I do not need to know.
She requests the lawyer to make it quick and get over with it. She tells him to show her where to sign and point out the exact signing place in the paper. She doesn't even look at the rest of it, while signing keeps her eye on Mr Gomez, not on the paper, let alone care to read the terms. She quickly finishes it up and closes the documents. Jumps up from the chair and asks if there anything else to do?
The lawyer replies: "No." She heads out for the bank.
Bank Manager: "Mr Gomez, I need to know if she signed the papers or not for issuing the blank check. Mr Raizada is a very valuable client and I do not wish to upset him at any cost."
Mr Gomez : "Yes, she signed, issue her the check. But as it's a weekend tomorrow, it will take a while for the check to process. Wait till the check is processed." Mr Gomez replies and explains the reason why.
Bank manager: "I do not think we should delay in such a delicate matter. Mr Raizada is a very temperamental person. If he gets upset, then only GOD can help us. In honor to your request I would suggest that, I will wait till tomorrow and email documents first thing in the morning."
DAY 4
LOCATION: SYDNEY , AUSTRALIA (ARNAV'S OFFICE)
The bank manager emails details of the transaction and copy of the divorce paper signed by Khushi to Mr Mehta. He asks if he needs to add a scanned copy of the check that Khushi took?
Mr Mehta calls the lawyer and bank manager personally. They assure that Khushi signed the papers without any hesitation and took a check that Arnav left with the bank manager. She did not take any cash.
Mr Mehta asks, how much amount did she put in the BLANK check that Mr Raizada left for her?
Hearing the reply, Mr Mehta jumps out of his chair :
" WHAT? ARE YOU SURE? IS THIS A JOKE?
HOW MUCH?
IF YOU ARE MISTAKING, THEN MR. RAIZADA WILL''..
YOU KNOW YOU WILL REPENT FOR REST OF YOUR Life'.."
OH! OK, YOU ARE 100% SURE RIGHT?
OK, AS YOU ARE SAYING, I BELIEVE YOU.
Please also send the scanned copy of the check, so Mr. Raizada can see for himself, without Killing me first."
Mr Mehta in the next minute drives to Arnav's hotel to notify him asap.
Arnav is surrounded by many foreign clients and is having a meeting. Mr Mehta gets astounded. The whole room has turned into a busy office. People are cramped up in the lobby and also in his suite, people working and papers everywhere. Six empty cups of coffee is on Arnav's table and another one in his hands.
Arnav looks extremely stressed. But there is a sense of calmness somewhere in the eyes. Mr Mehta has never seen Mr Raizada like this.
Arnav shouts out : "Oh Mr. Mehta, finally you are here. Where the hell have you been? I am closing this deal by tonight. I cannot wait till next weekend. I will sign the deal tonight and come back next week to finish the rest of the merger. I have to fly to India tonight. Call my agent and check if he got my ticket or not. I don't care if he can't find me a first class seat. I will even fly in economy if I have to.
Or charter a private jet, whatever it takes, how much it takes. JUST DO IT'.or YOU ARE FIRED". Arnav threatens him and drowns himself into the papers.
"Shit! I should have bought the jet by now. What was I waiting for?" Arnav murmurs to himself.
(Mr Mehta gathers some courage and walks towards Arnav to give him the news. He is much tensed about Arnav's reaction to the news amongst all this business deal going on. But the very second Arnav's phone rings )
Mr Mehta literally runs to Arnav and blocks his way: " SIR, SIR !! I HAVE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT NEWS, ALSO I NEED TO SHOW YOU SOMETHING. PLEASE GIVE ME A MINUTE. I BEG YOU SIR."
Arnav looks at him and calmly asks: "is it about home?" " and did Di call you again to ask about my meds?"
Mr Mehta, being puzzled by the question replies: "YES" Sir . BUT YOU NEED TO SEE THESE AND HEAR TO WHAT I SAY."
Arnav pushes him aside and starts to walk away taking over the phone. "Mr Mehta, things about Di and my home can wait. I know, she might find another occasion to call you directly and ask about the media circus, or about me and Lavanya or ask about my medicines. Please deal with it YOURSELF or tell me later." "I am coming back in 5 minutes."
Mr Mehta opens his mouth and was about to speak. ''
" SHUT UP Mr Mehta! I don't want to hear about it now!! You enquire about my ticket. That's why you are paid for."
"Also where the hell are my meds? I orders 2 days back. I am getting extremely irritated by you guys."
"Diane ! Where is my coffee? I told you to keep it coming, right? Also get me some food. I need to eat; I ordered the sandwich half an hour back! Damn it."
I work with a bunch of incompetent monkeys in this office."
Totally ignoring Mr Mehta, Arnav walks into his study room talking over the phone.
Mr Mehta feels lost. WHAT IS HE SUPPOSED TO DO? He stands there holding the paper file and keeps on pacing. He collects the last drop of courage and knocks the study door.
10 minutes passes''..
59 minutes passes'..
ANOTHER 120 minutes goes by'..
''''.but Arnav doesn't return.
(Couple of hours ago, while talking over the phone, Arnav left his study room from the north door and went to meet some other clients who couldn't come to him and left Mr Mehta hanging)
Mr Mehta is sweating. His heart is drumming and he holds on to the papers as if it's his death sentence. He called Arnav a thousand times and left uncounted messages. But no one replies. "I am definitely getting fired or killed tonight". Mr Mehta sweats some more.
He decides to go to their Sydney downtown office in hope that Arnav might be there, working.
DAY 4
LOCATION:
MR.COOPER'S VILLA AT THE SYDNEY HARBOUR
Twinkling lights all over, story high speakers rumbles, dark smoky room, crystal chandeliers, tapestry dangling from every arch, huge dance floor, black marble staircase and turn table on the right. "Bling bling" on the girls, shimmer on the dance floor, intoxicating aroma of the fragrance, short skirts and high heels stirring up on the dance floor. Disco lights flash over head. DJ blasts off. Heart pounding music flares up the night.
Media frenzy outside, flash of cameras firing up the scene.
In adjoining private room, beautiful models are cramped up near Arnav's table.
One girl hovers over Arnav and softly rests her hand on his shoulder: but then next second splits away, looking at his fuming eyes. Two more comes closer. Blue eyes and long blond hair covering the bare skin, curve hugging silhouettes, glittering sequins and perfect 10 bodies. The two beauties try to glide by him and seek a bit of attention from the business tycoon.
Mr Cooper smirks at Arnav, looking at the hovering girls: "Dear Boy! You are in day old attire and looking like you woke up this moment, no hairdo, and no shave and YET the ladies seem to be mesmerized by your company. You lucky chap! Your wife has tough competitions, say what Mate!"
Arnav presents a disapproving glare. Mr Cooper smiles a bit more and then says, "Ladies! He is recently married and flying away this night to his lovely wife. Give him some space, will you?" he chuckles some more.
Arnav, Mr Cooper and 5 more partners are signing the deal. Arnav holding the pen to sign, looks up once more to find his agent in the midst of all these people, signs and lowers his gaze towards the documents and then signs the deal. Everyone cheers up and drinks pour in.
Arnav is wearing a pair of crushed up dark khakis and the day old white t shirt. His buttons are undone at the neck, showing a peak of his chiseled chest. He did not change since last night. His eyes are dark with exhaustion. Messed up hair and an unshaved frame adds to his lean and sexy physic.
Arnav: "I need to leave asap Mr Cooper. Since I have signed, you guys finish it up here. I have no words to express my gratitude for putting up with me and making arrangements for the initial transition. Thanks a lot. Thanks to all of you."
He turns to Mr Cooper and says, "Oh There is another small request: I just ordered a pair of diamond ear rings for my wife and a bracelet from Tiffany's. It will be around 65 grand AUD. Can you please clear the payment from my account? My men will pick it up from you and send it to India. Thanks again Sir." He smiles.
His mood swings again into anxiety thinking of his return. " I am just waiting for my travel agent's call. Where the hell is he? Damn it !
I work with a bunch of incompetent monkeys." Arnav frowns and repeats his dialogue again and his forced smile disappears.
(Meanwhile)
Mr Mehta rushes from Arnav' 's office and arrives at to Mr Cooper's place as soon as he heard that, Arnav has returned and is signing the documents at Mr. Cooper's place.
He comes to Arnav almost running, panting, out of oxygen. Stops to gather his thought, takes a deep breath and then speaks silently to him.
"Sir, I need to speak to you. It's VERY VERY URGENT."
My story comprises of THE LAST 10 DAYS of the 6 month wedding period that ARNAV fixed for KHUSHI.
