8.00 AM : Anjali cannot get hold of Arnav. She keeps on calling, but no one picks up. She leaves her 9th message of the day. I need to talk to him as soon as possible and ask him about the Lavanya issue and also about Khushi. Need to verify matters that Shyam told me about them. God please prove that Shyam is wrong about what he said. Anjali sighs. Oh Chote where are you?
8.05 AM: " Anjali ji, Hope you are doing good. Arnav Sir is a bit busy right now. He saw your calls and texts, but cannot call back now. I was with him. He asked me to talk to you and let you know that everything is going alright. The media drama was not real and it was a misunderstanding. Lavanya mam and Mark sir are engaged and their wedding is next week. Please do not get worried.
Arnav sir wants to focus totally on the business and merger between the companies. Hope you understand. He asked you to take care of yourself and go to doctor visits regularly. He also called your doctor himself to enquire about you. Sorry mam! No I cannot put him on the phone. He also requested you or other family members not to call. He will be home sooner than planned. This is his exact word. Regards." Mr. Mehta turns the phone off and looks at Arnav, who is sitting on the couch watching a sports channel. He looks up and then looks away.
8.20 AM: "Mami ji, come have some Cucumber salad and Green tea. I have made it especially for you. I have also made face pack of yogurt and cucumber juice which is best for morning beauty routine. You will have to put it on and rest for 20 minutes in the shade of the pool for relaxation." Khushi smiles. Mami ji is stunned. Despite of her rudeness yesterday over the phone, how can this girl be nice today? Is there something wrong? Mamiji says :" Why are you being so nice? You must have some bad intention." She stops for a minute and says: "But as you have already made the pack, you better use it on me, Phaati saree". Mami ji relaxes with closed eyes near the pool side.
Khushi sneaks into mamiji's room.
9.00AM : "5 lacks? Now? Are you sure? Suddenly?" Anjali is puzzled.
KHushi says " Anjali ji, I never asked for anything, it's not for me. Arnav ji called at night and told me to make a purchase. It's for someone special and he told that it is a must. If I do not do it, he will be extremely upset. He did not tell me any other details. He asked you to call Aman Ji and I myself should go alone and pick up the cash. Please do not give check or credit card. He mentioned to take the money in cash asap. Khushi pouts her lips and shows restlessness. Anjali fells disturbed, she has never seen Khushi being this demanding. Anjali also feels sad cause Chote called Khushi , but did not pick up her phone.
Anjali : "Uff ! Chote bhi nah, he wants everything right away..!!" "Ok, driver will take you to the office and I will call Aman to make the arrangements". Anjali assures Khushi.
9.45 AM: Khushi packs a small bag and heads out of the house.
9.47 am: "Khushi ! Stop! What is in your bag and where are you going?"
Khushi: "Naniji, I am going to the tailor. That day I couldn't make it, so am going now. I will be a bit late. Bye nani ji ! You take care of yourself. Laxmi ji is fed and is sleeping near the pool side. Please take good care of Laxmi ji aswell! I love you Nani ji."
Khushi smiles and heads out of the house.
11.00 AM: "Aman JI thank you for the money. I need to go somewhere; I will be back in 2-3 hours. Please do not tell anyone that I collected all the cash and went out. I am planning a big surprise for Anjali Ji as instructed by Arnav ji. You know his temper right? I do not want to spoil anything. And Aman ji! SORRY !!"
Aman seems to be surprised. "why?" he asks her.
"Sorry for all the time Arnav ji has been rude with you. You are a good person".
Khushi smiles and leaves the office.
11.10AM: "Hello jiji! How are you? How is JIjaji? And how is your honeymoon going? New York, is it cold or warm now? If its warm, then tell Akash Ji to make it warm for you…Hehhe ! Jijaji ne bohat sataya khay? Listen, if he disturbs you too much ask him to stop and look into your eyes, he will have a mild stroke again and forget what he wants from you hahaha…" Khushi laughs over the phone.
" Khushi, baas bhi karo! You are too much. But then how do you know if Akash ji will stop looking in my eyes? Did you try this with Arnav ji? Hmmm…what else did you do? He loves to hold you close and take you up in his arms, right? You must have enjoyed it, naughty girl. As he is your Lad Governor. He must instruct you in detail every night while you two are doing…. "you know what? " Payal laughs her heart out.
"Jiji, is your head in the right place? You are speaking like this…wah! What a change? LoL
…..(pause)
"Jiji! I have to tell you something, I love you a lot. I wish you all the happiness. Akash ji is a very good guy and you will be very happy. I am sorting out my stuff, I made a bag and noted your name on it, thought of switching some outfits with you. Hari prakash Ji knows about it. No…no..I am alright…just felt like mentioning. Oh another thing, Anjali ji , Nani ji and rest are going on a short trip to Bombay and they will take me along, Anjali ji asked me to tell you and Akash ji not to call in the next 3-4 days. She told you guys not to worry and enjoy your honeymoon to the fullest. I will call you after I come back. Love you Jiji! Bye".
Khushi clutchs the phone to her heart and takes a deep breath.
11.30 AM: "What? Where? Who? Oh ok. Good news. I am so happy for your trip Khushi. As Arnav betua left you alone, it will be nice for you to take a trip with family. When do you plan to go?" Amma Ji talks for another 5 minutes and then seats down with Khushi's dad and Buaji in the yard of their Lukhnow house.
11.45 AM: Khushi enters the building and asks the guard where the chamber is?
LOCATION: ( Arnav's resort: SYDNEY: AUSTRALIA)
( Arnav and Lavanya are sitting on the couch , sipping on coffee and catching on old times.)
After an hour long discussion about the new merger, her upcoming wedding, Mark and future plans, Lavanya continues:
Lavanya: ASR ! I thought I will never feel the way I do now. Mark and I are in love and he looks at me the same way you looked at Khushi.
Arnav: SHUT up! What are you saying Lavanya? You haven't seen me and her together as a couple. I married her after you left. Remember?
Lavanya: Oh ASR, you are still in denial. Khushi loved you, always. The days she used to come to train me, she used to come only to catch a glimpse of you. Every time you were in the room I saw her react as if her heart beat has doubled up. She kept an eye for you at all time. Didn't you notice her pain when you suddenly announced our engagement? I caught her crying. But, later I realized the reason behind her distress.
Arnav: Lavanya, you are deluded. Well, I do not blame you. Even I got deceived by her ways, deceived into believing that Khushi might have interest in me. But LOVE? No NEVER! She is not what you think of her.
(Lavanya gets pretty surprised hearing this, she thought ASR and Khushi are happily married)
Lavanya: What are you indicating at ASR?
ASR please stop masking your belief. You will not accept the plain fact that LOVE exists and you two were in love, even before marriage. Do you know, she wrote a letter in my name and gave to you? She also sold her bangle only to buy you plants on my behalf. I got to know about this, later on. You are really lucky to have a girl like her. Despite of knowing you like me, she kept on loving you and even helping me to get you. She is selfless and very innocent.
Please do not hide behind your fear of commitment.
Arnav: WHAT? Lavanya. You need help with your head. Go see a shrink (slang for psychiatrist)!! I think you need therapy. Didn't you remember that Khushi got engaged during that time? If she liked me then, why would she get engaged?
Lavanya: Oh her engagement! Did Khushi tell you about her engagement with SHYAM?
The earth shakes up under his feet and every inch of his body stirs up in rage. Arnav slowly gets up from seating, grabs the couch handle, his fists clenches tight and smashes his mug on the floor. His pulses pound and anger starts to kick in .He looks at Lavanya. His eyes are burning with hatred. He closes the gap between them in 2 steps and grabs Lavanya's arms and yanks her up on her feet :
WHAT THE F*** ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? SHYAM?
You mean Jijaji and Khushi? WHAT THE HELL? WHEN did this happen?? Lavanya are you kidding with me? TALK Lavanya..DAMN IT…SPEAK up WOMAN !!
(Arnav shakes the poor girl like a leaf.)
Lavanya pushes ASR away and rubs her arms in disgust.
Lavanya: ASR, you get on my nerves. Are you insane? Shit ASR ! Why did hurt me like this? Why did you react this way? As if you do not know about it. Everyone does. Naniji or Anjali di, mami ji, everyone knows, didn't they tell you?
(BEWILDERED) …. Arnav has never felt so clueless in his whole life….
Arnav: WHAT THE HELL are you talking of ? DAMN it !!
Di khows about Shyam and Khushi? I thought she doesn't have a clue. That bas***d, I will kill him and rip his F***ing head off. Filthy lowlife!!
(Arnav runs to the phone and dials the travel agent in an instant. Lavanya comes behind him, running ).
Lavanya: STOP! STOP YOU FOOL! What are you saying? Your brother in law? YOU mean jijaji and Khushi? ASR you need help. Man, you need therapy and see a shrink, not me. Are you a maniac? How could you even think like that, you idiot!
Lavanya: SHYAM is the name of the guy who used to stay at Khushi's house on rent and Buaji forced her into getting engaged with that guy. He is NOT your jijai. Khushi was very upset after the engagement. She hated the fact of getting into relation with that guy. Later when I called her up, she told me that the guy was a deceiving jerk, a pervert.
Remember? Once there was a religious thing at your house and Khushi came to celebrate with us all? The same day, she found out his truth about his deception and lies. And she called off the engagement herself the exact day. Even after she broke up, the guy used to track her. He tried to sexually abuse her, tried to marry her forcefully. I feel sorry for Khushi, she must be pretty helpless, dealing alone with that creep.
But now, after marriage SHE HAS YOU, right? Lavanya finishes her sentence and looks at Arnav with concern.
Arnav's face shows a mixed expression of doubt, disbelief, confusion, anger, sorrow, heart break, concern, self loathing and hatred.
He keeps quiet for a minute and then questions in gravest of voice:
"Lavanya: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SPOKE TO KHUSHI?
and WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME SHE MENTIONED THAT SHYAM STILL BOTHERED HER?"
DAY 5
LOCATION: Lawyer'S chamber: DELHI: INDIA
Time: 12.00 NOON.
KHUSHI enters the room and looks up.
" Where do I sign?"
