Ch 4
She had to go to Arnav and talk to him. If this was about what went between Shyam and her then she has to go to him to clear things out. She realized that she should have gone to him much earlier. Anjali has always been too dear to him. Any aberration in her life would result in a strong action to protect her from Arnav. She went up to him to clear the misunderstanding.
However, what she didn't realize was all the vile things that Shyam had fed him in the meanwhile. No matter how much she tried, Arnav was not ready to listen to her. Once again banishing her from the room.
Since then their relationship has been very tumultuous. Not wanting to be with each other yet could not be without each other. She become hurt and angry with his lack of trust in her. All the while he was angry at not being able to help with the situation. In his heart he trusted her but didn't know how to handle his brother-in-law's obsession with her. He has gone through with this six month marriage in a hope that this would deter Shyam with his philandering with Khushi. But it hasn't stopped him. He has become more and more obsessive. It frustrated Arnav . And all of his frustrations was manifested in anger towards Khushi. She became the punching bag for his inability to take any action towards Shyam. Indirectly finding her responsible for enticing his brother-in-law.
Still when they were alone in bed there would be times when he would be too overwhelmed and would go on to take his conjugal rights.
This strained relationship has taken its toll on Khushi. No one could say that she was a 'happily-married-newly-wed' who eloped to get married the day of her sister's wedding. Her various attempts to explain has fallen on deaf ears. And then she discovered that she was with child. When Arnav has made the most horrible accusation any father could make for his own child, she has decided that she has had enough. Putting away the bangles of his mother on their dresser, she took off with little money in her hand from his house. Not thinking anymore for her Jiji. Knowing and understanding fully well that Aakash loves payal enough not to let her go just so Arnav asks him too. He would instead walk out with her Jiji.
Saurabh sat quietly as Khushi finished her monologue. He was shocked, saddened and felt anger in succession as he heard her story. Khushi has never discussed her past in detail with him. He believed that the hurt still ran deep for her to open up her wounds with him. Theirs was not going to be a marriage based on passion and love. It was more because of their mutual convenience. He needing a womanly figure for his soon to be a teenage daughter and she needing a support of a man for her and her son. Their relationship was based on mutual respect, trust and most of all they liked each other. Marriages has been successful with less going for them. They believed that in time love would grow. However, they both were past their fervor of youthful-passionate-love. They both have experienced it and lost it, never to find it back again.
But this new revelation has made him think. Khushi could still have a chance of finding that once elusive love back. He asked her what she wants him to do. She looked at him and asked instead, what does he wants to do now?
He gazed at her intently and then said, "He had hoped that they would find happiness together and was looking forward for their wedding. However, if she wants to go back to Arnav, as he asks her to, then he would understand. He would not hold her back and would not hold any grudge towards her."
Khushi looked at him sadly and said that he probably doesn't understand the reason why she told him everything. It was not to get back to Arnav. She would not want to go back to him. After a long time she finally found peace and calm in her life and have this much responsibility towards herself and her son not to subject herself to the same insecurities on Arnav's side.
Why she told him the truth was because once she had hid the facts from someone who meant the world for her. This has not resulted in much of good to anybody. Now that she was to embark on a new life she doesn't want to commit the same mistake again.
Also, Saurabh might feel the wrath of her decision. Arnav could be ruthless when he wanted to get something. She doesn't want Saurabh to suffer any setbacks in his career because of her.
Saurabh smiled and said, "Working for over 15 years, he has built enough reputation in his field that he could easily find a good job someplace else. If nothing be, he still has income coming from his various properties to not worry about financially ."
However, he was disappointed in Mr. Raizada. He had great regard for the young man. He has sensed something between Khushi and him last night at the dinner. But this still came as a surprise to him. He kind of felt betrayed by Mr. Raizada for sneaking behind his back to get in touch with Khushi. He thought he need to talk to him.
