It has been few weeks since their so called marriage. The family's anger has started to calm down. Even Mami had taken pity on her and her taunts have subsided a lot. She prefered to ignore her instead. Her family has slowly come to terms with it too. She has started visiting them but the things were never the same. Too much water has flown under the bridge. She didn't hold that was said to her by Buaji against anyone of them...however it still wasn't the same. Sometime, much later, just before she left, Buaji in a rare show of understanding had asked her if she did this because of Shyam. She has answered in negative and was glad that she did it when she saw the relief on her face.

Everyone's behaviour towards her has improved except from the one whom she seeked the most. He continued to stonewall her at everystep. She had tried hard to understand the reason behind his sudden change in attitude towards her. Had kept awake thinking about it. She had come up with many reasons but wasn't sure which one to believe.

One night he had to take her to a party thrown by an old business associate. He was an elderly man who Arnav respected a lot. He had insisted on Arnav bringing his wife to the party.

In her golden-creame sari she had felt out of place at the party. She was out of her element. This wasn't her thing do to. She sat in the corner and gave shy smiles to people who came to talk with her out of politness.

All this while Arnav couldn't take his eyes off her. She looked so beautiful, pristine in that sari. Sitting quitely in the corner. She saw few men going up to her and trying to start a conversation. She just gave her sweet smile...the smile which he never see her showering on him these days.

It was late when they reached home. He quitely shut the door of their room. As she walking to the bathroom to get changed, he softly called out to her, "Khushi". She turned to him, unsure of what he called her out for. OVer come by emotions he just went to her and took her in his arms. She had been taken aback for a moment, then she had hugged him back. Hugged him like this was all she wanted from life. They held on to each other. All the sexual tension of the past weeks yearning to be released...

When she woke the next morning, Arnav surprisingly, has already left for office. The day went by smoothly. She was alone with Payal the whole day as all the rest have gone to Virndavan for a day.

She was calm the whole day. She waited for Arnav to get back home in the evening. There were things that they needed to discuss. He had gotten late. She sat on the recliner in their room, waiting for him. Soon the sleep took over her. When she woke up around 3 in the morning she found herself in the bed with Arnav sleeping of the other side.

Sitting in front of the dresser, in the morning, she saw him observing her from the bed while she was applying sindoor in her maang. She blushed and gave him a shy smile. He kept looking at her for a while and then gave her a tight smile before getting down from bed.

Having doubts in her heart she walked out of their bedroom only to be confronted by Shyam. He has where she was the night before last. How come they got so late getting back home. Doesn't she know that he doesn't like her staying out that late in night with Arnav. Before she could spat out her reply to him, she saw Arnav standing at the door and looking at them. There was murder in his eyes. He walked up to them and asked Khushi to get downstairs and do her work.

The doubts that she had had for the reason for their abrupt marriage was now confirmed to her. Somehow Arnav has come to know about Shyam and to save his sister's marriage has got married to her. She reflected on all his past behaviour and could understand the change in him now. She has to go and explain to him, she thought.
