~Part 1~
The rays of sun, peaking through the trees made her open her eyes slowly. At first she couldn't remember where she was, how long she had been lying there, how she had even gotten there. She attempted lifting herself up, her stiff body aching as she tried to sit in an upright position. Finally she was able to sit up.
It took her a couple of minutes to fully be awake, but then when she was, she suddenly became alert and ignoring her pain stood up. She looked around frantically, she was in a wooded area, there was trees as far as her eye could see. Then everything came rushing back to her, hitting her like a wave, making her lose balance and fall to the ground in a heap.
She began to sob, not knowing what else to do. How far had she ran? Was she safe? What if they were still looking for her? She realized she couldn't think of any of these things right now, as the pain in her stomach reminded her she needed food and water. She stood up, still weak from the fall, and attempted to balance herself. Had she been lying like that for days?
She began to walk slowly, having no sense of direction as to where she was going. The woods seemed endless, where did the trees begin and where did they end? She kept walking straight, hoping that it would lead her somewhere.
A mix of fear and relief had taken over her. A fear of the unknown, a fear for her safety, yet relieved to be alone. To be rid of the hell she had ran away from. She kept walking, minutes seemed to turn in to hours. Every so often she would lean on to a tree, to weak to continue. She realized if she didn't continue she could be here the entire night, and that was something she didn't want.
She kept walking, her whole body seemed to be aching now, her legs were numb and she felt they could give out at any minute. She walked some more until finally she saw a flicker of light coming from somewhere. Could there be some sort of house in the middle of the woods, as strange as it sounded. Her mind didn't really care to think, she ran towards the lights, and suddenly stopped. Could it be them?
Her heart sank, and she began panicking. She was so fear stricken she couldn't move, and then she heard a voice that was all too familiar.
"Look everywhere! She has to be somewhere" yelled a husky voice in to the dark.
"But sir, we've looked here, what if she is long gone?" said another, clearly more timid voice.
Her heart was pounding so hard in her chest, she swear they could hear it. Then, as if her body suddenly was hit with an adrenaline of energy, she dropped to the ground and slowly began crawling to find a place to hide. She could hear their footsteps coming closer, she began crawling faster.
"I really don't think she is here," said the voice of the timid man.
"Shut up and keep looking! No one asked for your opinion!" the other man replied.
Finally she found a tree with a trunk more than 3 times her size in width. It was the only place she could hide. She pressed herself against the tree, keeping her ear out for their footsteps. They were close, she could hear their footsteps only a short distance away. She clasped her hand over her mouth, to stop them from hearing her heavy breathing.
She saw their flashlight shine at the tree beside her, she bit her hand to stop herself from screaming.
"Come on, were wasting time sir, why don't we go check out the next town over?" said the timid man again.
There was a silence, and she heard their footsteps walking away. She slowly began to peer from behind the tree, and then her every fear came true. The blinding light shone straight on her face and she covered her face in fear.
"HA, FOUND YOU!"
She got up, without thinking and began to run, she could hear them coming after her.
