Well he doesn't really need to witness their relationship to know what kind of bond they share. He is already aware of it but in the future he will truly realise it's depth 😉

No hidden agenda there for him. He's just trying to prevent losing his friendship with Astha altogether as he still somewhat cares for her. But at the same time he is arrogant, dominant and a little selfish individual. He wants things but without any compromise.
