EK ANOKHI KAHAANI Part 8

The team reached the place. Everyone was silent. Aastha too didn't know what to say or how to begin.
Shikha broke the silence. "So guys, let's introduce ourselves so that Aastha will get to know all of us...!!"
Everyone agreed. Aastha was so glad and thankful to have Shikha in the team.
Shikha was the first to introduce herself, although Aastha knew her. Then they all began their introduction one by one, telling their names and the department they came from.
"Hi! I am Varun... from the 'Accounts' department."
"I am Sonali... 'Design' deparment."
"I am Avinash, popularly known as Avi!!" He winked. Everyone smiled. "I too work in the Design department."
"Haiii Aastha!! I am Rutuja... But everyone calls me 'Dolly'!! You can call me 'Dolly' too!!
"Huh... shuru ho gayi iski baatein...!!" murmered Sonali. Others giggled.
Dolly was busy talking. "I work in the 'Marketting' department. It is so nice to have you here Aastha...! But one thing I wanted to know, how did you manage to become the event-head the day you joined here??!"
Aastha felt very uncomfortable. Shikha noticed that.
"Dolly, this is just an introduction session. Baaki baatein hum baad mein karenge, okay?" said Shikha, trying to be as polite as she could.
"Okay okay... Aastha, you tell me the secret afterwards!!" Dolly winked.
Aastha forced a smile. The introduction session continued.
"Hi I am Pranav. I am from the Design department as well!"
"Rishab! I manage all the contacts and our ties with them."
Finally, it was Aatha's turn to speak. This introduction session had relaxed Aastha a bit. She spoke confidently and pleasantly.
"I am glad to meet you all!" said Aastha with a smile. "As you all know, I am Aastha. Today is my first day here, and the way it is proceding, I am left surprised and shocked! And I am sure you all are too!! Well, whatever has happened, I hope you take it in the right spirit. I know very well that you all are among the best people working here and experienced too. I have very little experience, or none, to be more precise. And for some reason, I am appointed as the head for this event. But that shouldn't affect our team relations. I am looking forward to work with you all. I am sure that I will get to learn many new things and concepts from Shikha Ma'am and you all. And no doubt this will be a wonderful experience!! Though I am appointed as the event-head, it is just nominal. We all are working together for this event, and no one, according to me, should be considered inferior or superior."
Everyone was listening attentively and were impressed with the thoughts of this young lady. Aastha added in a naughty tone, "Well, I can not deny that I am the only one inferior here..." Some smiled and while the others laughed.
"So, are you all ready to make this event successful?!!" asked Aastha with enthusiasm.
She got a unanimous nod and an applause. Shikha was glad.

"What is this noise?" wondered Shlok as he came out of the conference room along with Rahul and some others. "Yeh taaliyan kaun baja raha hai?" he said in rage.
Rahul and Shlok came to see what was going on. They saw everyone applauding for Aastha. Both stood silently at the door without being noticed by anyone.

"Thank you so much for your co-operation!" said Aastha gladly. "So let's get started!!"
Everyone was full of enthusiasm to work on this new project.
"But there's a small problem" said Aastha. Everyone had their eyes on her and all ears curious to know what the problem was. Aastha continued, "I don't know from where to start" she said innocently. Everyone smiled.
"Don't worry Aastha, we all will give you an outline about how any project proceeds...!!" said Shikha.
Eveyone agreed. Aastha smiled, ready to learn everything.
All of them sat round the table to discuss their basic plan and schedule and also to explain Aastha how things work.

"She has something in her, doesn't she?" commented Rahul.
Shlok left the place without replying.

The day soon ended. Aastha met Shruti and Aakash in the parking area.
"Everything going alright?" asked Aakash.
"Yup!! Alright so far!!" replied Aastha.
"That's good!!" said Shruti.
The three left for home.

"Arey Aastha, aa gayi tu!" Kalindi was waiting for Aastha's return.
Avdhoot too had returned from work and Ajju was there too.
"How was your day beta?" asked Avdhoot.
"It was great Baba!! It was tiring... Main bohot thak gayi hoon! Aur Aai mujhe bohot bhookh bhi lagi hai!!" said Aastha.
"Toh phir chalo... baaki baatein dining table par karte hain...!!" suggested Ajju.

They all sat around the dining table as Aastha told them all that happened.
"... woh Akdu yeh sab jaan boojh ke kar raha hai... Don't know what problem he has with me...!! This can't be just because I had quarrelled with him on the road that day...!! Pata nahi, lekin baat kuchh aur hai..." said Aastha.
"Dekho beta, baat jo bhi ho, tum apna kaam theek se karna... kisi ko shikayat ka koi mauka mut dena...!" said Kalindi, a bit worried.
"Haan Aai, tu fikar mut kar... I will handle everything!!" replied Aastha assuring her mother.
And then Aastha told them of all the lovely people she met.

"Chalo, ab mujhe jaldi sona hoga... Kal jaldi jo uthna hai...!!" said Aastha moving towards her room.
"Kal jaldi jaana hai kya?" asked Avdhoot.
"No Baba! Office ko normal time pe hi jaana hai... but I need to get up early to brush up my knowledge... Afterall, I am the event-head!!" she smiled.
Kalindi, Avdhoot and Ajju felt proud of their littl girl.
Aastha took out a couple of reference books from her shelf and placed them on the study table, so that the next day when she woke up, she wouln't have to spend time searching for them.

Here Shlok was not in a good mood. He was in his room. Sojal came to call him for dinner. But he refused to go.
"Shlok, kuchh toh kha lo...!!" urged Sojal.
"Nahi vahini, mujhe bhookh nahi hai...!!!" replied Shlok, closing his eyes as he rested back his head on the wall.
Sojal left the room and told everyone.
Anjali came in to call Shlok.
"Shlok, chalo khaana kha lo...!!" she said.
Shlok opened his eyes in anger. "Mrs. Agnihotri, aap ko meri fikar karne ki koi zaroorat nahi hai!!" he shouted. "Aur meri Aai banne ki koshish mut karna!! Kyun ki aap na toh meri Aai hain aur na hi kabhi meri Aai ban sakti hain!! Aur Baba yahan nahi hain iska mutlab yeh nahi ki aap unki jagah lein...!!!"
This hurt Anjali. Her eyes watered but Shlok never noticed those tears. She silently left the room.

"I had explained them everything... every single detail!! And what were they doing?? Praising that silly girl?!!" Shlok was enraged.

"Varad, Shlok ka mood aaj kuchh theek nahi lag raha hai... Why dont you go talk to him..?!" suggested Sojal.
Varad nodded and left.
"Aai," Sojal said to Anjali, "aapko pata hai na Shlok gussay mein kuchh bhi keh deta hai... You know how he is! Aap uski baatein dil pe mut lijeeye...!"
Anjal just forced a smile and walked off to her room.

"Shlok... what's up bro?!! Why are you so upset?" asked Varad.
"Kuchh nahi Dada... Nothing, really!" Shlok replied.
Sojal came in too, after making sure that Kavya had slept.
"Any problem? Koi tension?" enquired Varad.
"Tension aur problem mujhe nahi, usay hone waala hai...!!" replied Shlok with an evil smile. "She is gonna be in trouble!!"
"Don't tell me you are talking about that new girl in your office!!" exclaimed Varad.
"Sorry Dada, but yes, it's her!!"
"Kya kar rahe ho Shlok?!! This is not right!!!" Varad tried to explain.
Shlok was not in a mood to listen.
"Dekho Shlok, agar uss ladki ne kuchh kiya nahi hai, toh tum usay yun pareshaan kar ke theek nahi kar rahe ho...!" said Sojal. "What problem do you have with her?! Why don't you let her be?? You are behaving like this the day you first saw her!!"
"Yes!! I HAVE a problem with her. She makes me angry...!! I lose my temper whenever I see her... I feel a kind of fear..." said Shlok in a loud tone. "Gussa aata hai mujhe jab bhi main usay dekhta hoon...!!" he almost screamed. "Nahi dekhna chahta main usay meri nazron ke saamne...!!!" His voice lowered as he stared into the air.

"Darr lagta hai mujhe..." he almost whispered. And then he left the room.
"Shlok!!" Varad and Sojal cried after him. But he was gone!
