EK ANOKHI KAHAANI - Part 7

"Congrats Aastha!!" said Aakash putting his hand ahead to shake hands.
Aastha just stared at the hand silently.
"Tum ne toh pehele hi din baazi maar li yaar" said Shruti, feeling very happy for Aastha.
The frown on Aastha's face left Aakash and Shruti confused.
"Kya hua Aastha??" asked Shruti. "Why are you sad? You should be happy yaar!!"
Aastha didn't reply. Shruti and Aakash exchanged glances.
"Come, let's have our lunch first! Baatein toh baad mein bhi ho sakti hain!!" suggested Aakash.

The three went to the canteen carrying their tiffins along. While eating, Aastha narrated everything that had happened.
"...and that's the reason he appointed me as the event head. I don't know what to do now...!!"
"This is not fair!!" said Shruti. "Tumhein koi experience nahi hai... How will you manage all this?"
"What if there is no experience... she has got talent!!" replied Aakash. "THIS is your chance Aastha!! This is the opportunity to prove yourself, don't let it go!!"
Aakash's words were very encouraging. Aastha felt good now. She smiled.
"You are right Aakash, uss akdu ko mujhe dikhaana hi hoga ki main kya kar sakti hoon!! I WILL accept this challenge!!" said Aastha confidently.
"That's the spirit Aastha!!" said Shruti happily. "And don't you worry!! We are always there to help and support you!"
Aakash nodded in agreement. Aastha felt blessed to have such good friends.
"Thanks Shruti, thanks Aakash!!" said Aastha. "I don't know what I would have done were you both not with me...!!"

By the end of the lunch time, there were three smiling faces parting ways only to meet again by the end of the day.

As Aastha was keeping back her tiffin, a peon came to her...
"Aastha ma'am, Shlok Sir ne aap ko cabin mein bulaya hai...!" informed the peon.
Aastha missed a beat.

She entered Shlok's cabin to see many people already present there.
"So, Miss. Aastha Kirloskar... yeh hai tumhaari team!!" said Shlok refering to all the people present there.
Aastha looked around. All the people were experienced. Shikha was also there. Aastha felt nervous.
"Aastha Madam ko unki nayi jagah dikhaao...!!" ordered Shlok to the peon.
Aastha was lost in her thoughts.
"O Madam!!! Now stop thinking and go!!" said Shlok. "Your team will be there soon!"
"Aayiye Madam!" said the peon as he lead Aastha out of the cabin towards the new place.

It was a huge hall with a round table and chairs in one corner. There was a screen and a projector on the other side. There was a white board with markers and cleaner. There were a couple of soft boards with pins kept by their sides. And there were two cupboards,quite large in size. There were four computers too.
"Nice place to work!" thought Aastha as she gazed through the hall.
"Yeh rahi yahan ki chaabiyan..." said the peon as he handed a bunch of keys to Aastha and went away.
Aastha walked in and placed the bunch of keys on the table. She went ahead to open the cupboards to see what they contained, but realised they were locked. She took the keys and tried them one by one. Finally she could open the cupboards. One of them had a number of books, magazines, files for reference. The other consisted of many blank papers, chart papers, other stationery material required for sketching. Also, there was a file which had all the contacts, right from the flower arrangement, to pendals, to caterers, lights, music... and what not!!
Aastha was impressed with the system and the management. No doubt the company lead the market!!
As she waited for the others to come, Aastha thought about the event.
"Everyone is senior to me, by age as well as by experience! How will I manage...? What must they all be thinking about me? Shlok Sir appointed me as the event-head... will everyone take this in the right spirit?"
Numerous thoughts were flooding into Aastha's mind.
"Bappa, please meri help karna!!" she prayed.

Here, Shlok was discussing with the others in his cabin.
"...so, have you all understood what you all are supposed to do?" asked Shlok. "I hope there won't be any problem and you all will manage this well! Shikha will guide you!!"
Shikha wasn't comfortable with this. She hesitated before she finally spoke...
"Sorry Sir, but don't you think we are being unfair to Aastha...?"
Shikha was taken aback by the angry gaze Shlok threw at her.
"Jo tumse kaha gaya hai, woh karo!! Just do what you are told to...!!" he shouted. "Do you all get it?"
Everyone nodded in "yes" out of fear.
"All the best Miss Aastha Kirloskar!!!" thought Shlok as his eyes gleamed.
