I think as long as a story is told beautifully,it will contact with the target audience. But one need to research what is the target audience. Most of the audience is female yet we are getting item numbers one after another in every drama, at least the one I have tried to watch on SP or Zee tv. The dance moves, the backless blouses...just what is the target?...If anyone looks at the top dramas of SP in history or any good drama with highest trp (for example kaun bane ga crorepati), it shows cultural values, something made specifically for this region.
It feels like somewhere writers, directors and producer are living in another world. If you look at DBO, it was really good drama but there were somethings so filmy,s o over the top, so fake that I was like I know I am watching a drama but you don't need shove it down my throat.
The origional story line was good but the guy who was marrying the heroine by force was not only old, dictatorial but he wanted his bride to be, the malkan to dance in front of his guests, nnow which village in India has such values. Even if he intended to share her with his brothers but that doesn't mean he was going to advertise it throughout the world. Like kuch bhi? Villain are so rediculous, there storylines so pathetic, that even if the direction is superb, actors are brilliant, costumes are brilliant, you are left with a bad taste in mouth. You are like what the hell I watched on my tv?
Pardes was good and it got better trps but then, it had good direction and everything but look at the ending we got? I am happy with gul that at least she gave us a good ending
