She has had a crazy few days that started from frightening date with Pratham, triggering her PTSD panic attack, being rescued and brought back home only to find a baby with almond allergies and secret discovered by Advay, to an engagement where the groom was swapped and being whisked to a secret wedding place. Groom swap encore and married to Advay with very little choice!! 😲😲Phew!! my hand, it hurts typing this!! This is one of the characters that had had the most dramatic change of events in serial time so I expected some introspection when the night had gone quite and she was standing in the room. A moment to soak in and process the chain of events she has been put thorough. Unfortunately, the writers did not do the mehrabani making us wonder how can she keep taking the hits?

Chandni was resigned to a sham loveless marriage with Pratham, the same continued with Advay too- in those lines I did not expect a push back on Friday. The precap indicated the baby secret is out in the open and hopefully this will trigger the beginning of her breaking point? The viewers need to root for Chandni and Advay and not leave the story a one-sided narration which is not palatable!

Shivani can act and I like her in the toned down scenes. Having said that, her character demands more nuances in terms of expressions to root for Chandni particularly since lions share of her scenes are with Ritu and Barun. She needs to ramp up very fast as the story now delves into (I hope) how she goes about fulfilling her vachan? It will help if the writers are consistent with Chandni, the character and the actress can benefit from that!

You are right ... half of the reason I feel like Chandni is so submissive and weak right now is because the makers never invested in showing us her thought process... maybe if they showed whats going through her mind then when finally the moment she breaks out, we will really enjoy.

The show is obviously not one to be subtle and let the viewers understand her feeling by pure emotions ...they even show scene shown 2 mins back to make the viewers understand situation as if everyone who watches has short term memory (like recalling PP's attack on chandni's feet during phere time)... so I am not buying the argument that the makers want us to understand her situation by ourself without her monologue of something ... this is simply not that kind of a show...

Gul is always partial towards her hero. The hero always gets the most layered character and if the actress pitched against the hero knows her job, she will perform way beyond what the script demands and till date, according to me only two women have done that and Shivani is not one of them.

Also Chandni is the weakest character in Gul's stories. She is the most submissive of them all and a character like that requires an actor par excellence, who knows how NOT to make her a rondhu and as of today, she is nothing but a rondhu for me, who would not utter a word even if PP abused or molested her. I do feel bad for her occasionally, but it will take forever before I start rooting for her.

Shivani is pretty good in scenes where the focus is on someone else or is an extremely normal scene. For instance, in Friday's episode, I liked her in morning scenes where she was with Nani and Advay. Her breakdown about her kidnap was good, but that's the only scene I can think of where I was almost satisfied with her performance, but there too I didn't cry till I saw the conflict on Advay's face 😕

Barun playing Advay is not helping either. He is so convincing that as the anti-hero yet am unable to hate him.

So as of today I am Keen to see more of Advay-Indrani than Advay-Chandini and that's not positive for a show like this.

PS has given me hope that in less than two weeks, Chandini will come out of this rondhu mode and I really hope the makers work on Chandu's character. As I have always said, no matter how good Advay-Indrani/ Barun-Shivani are, the show will not see the kind of success makers hope for, until the audience start reacting to Chandini.

Cant agree more...Shivani is a decent actress ...she has her moments ... both good and bad ... but the main culprits are the writers. On paper Shivani was Guls best heroin...educated, financially stable , idealistic, calm and polite and not to forget a survivor. With all that description what we expected was a resilient woman who will hide her tears and fight silently ... but instead we got a character who keeps mum against all atrocities against her ... be it a mother who sold her, a fiance who drugged her and attepted to molest and now a husband who control her like a doll...

Hope they get back to molding their FL also ...

Lost may be yes
Also suffering from trauma
He has just one mission now
To take revenge against the wrong doers
But the way he plans them
Most of it is very smart

The point is I was under the impression that Advay was trying to figure out the other crime partners ...Chandini was his stepping stone...and also understand he wants to hurt them... but what he is doing now is buring the very bridge he build by his obsession with hurting chandini ...

seems he forgot to focus on the other culprits and even no attempts to find his brother ... 😕

Hmm fabricated case may do
I am not sure if he has thought of that
Even now I think he is on the trail of the others
At times he must be asking Murli and Shilpa of any findings
Just that we are not shown that

Hi mira... i have read your posts on the forum.. whether i agree or disagree with them i find your comments very balanced.

i do not think advay is a is a psychopath. I just feel that he has not had an outlet for all his negative feelings for 16 years...no one else can even imagine(his nani included) what he has seen... so over the years he has kept himself sane by focussing his negative energy on hating chandni... and now he has power over her... so his worst side is unleashed ... he is not like that with murli or shilpa even though he is in a position of power over them... and he shares his deepest thoughts with nani.. about how betrayed he felt etc.. he is not callous, self serving and manipulative with everyone..hence does not seem psychopathic..

and the reason why he doesnt resort to law to get justice and goes for revenge..because it is personal. 'Chandni tho apni thi'...

most of the other issues are i think a combination of weak writing and the impact of poor trps leading to writers being pushed one way on one day and another way next day by the channel and the ph maybe...

i for one think that this phase is similar to arnav dropping khushi from first floor.. at that time i dont think even arnav had any second thoughts or remorse about dropping her which only started when his attraction to her started. I am not comparing but only trying to illustrate.. just because hate marriage track is there both people may try to compare but in s1 hate marriage happened after ML fell in love while here it is the beginning of their story ..

slowly he will gain empathy for her and then i think we can slowly start loving advay again..

just my humble opinion.. and i am definitely not an expert on any of the above topics... and this is not with an intent to disagree with you but for discussion only!!!

p.s. i love your dp of calvin!!

yah thats true ...psychopath is not the word i should say...he does have feelings ...very deep one at that...just that he is too traumatized that his actions are not balanced... Which I am ok with...these imperfections make him more interesting ... his deep rooted hatred is driving his life ... moment he realize that was misplaced anger, we will see a lost boy...

In a way Arnav was more severe case than Advay...he was plain jerk initially ...unlike Advay, who's actions are driven by old betrayals and deep rooted hate, Arnav was more narcissistic...the number of time he called himself Arnav Singh Raizada this that and all...he hurted her purely out of ego and his ideology...

Dont you agree all this game of hurting and giving pain works a lot better if they establish the feeling ML-FL has for each other? Like we knew Arnav loved her and hates her after terrace ...wish they spend a bit more time on Advay's mixed feelings as well as Chandni's confused mind ...just a thought

PS: thank you 😊 He is my absolute fav character ever

hi mira.. thanks for your reply..

i agree with the fact that conflicted feelings result in good drama but i think it is too early for him to have loving or even nice feelings about adult chandni.. he has only seen what she is when she is under her mom's thumb...

i think it is only when he sees her on a daily basis away from the poisonous atmosphere of vashisht mansion will he be able to see her true colours and start responding to her positive characteristics... as of now he has only seem her maa bhakti, trying to trap a rich man, nails, weakness to his charm (which is definitely not endearing her to him) as he sees her as not an innocent woman but one who has done stuff with pp/had a baby out of wedlock while lying to the world... maybe while not s**t shaming her directly, he is using everything as a strike against her... nothing in what he has seen has made him love her.. well about his attraction for her, he only sees it as a weakness seen by his comment 'mijhe pp samajh rakha hai kya'

he needs to see that she is also a broken person due to different reasons and he needs to see her innate goodness and he has not yet had a chance to see that.. i think that is the track we will get for next few weeks helped by the baby and nani...hopefully unless cvs have some other brainwave..

it was like when arnav saw khushi helping his sister or when he knew abt her parents etc and then only his feelings started thawing for her... till then it was only attraction...

i am a indian tv serial novice.. only have ipk1 and tanhaiyan in my kitty for backup so illustrating from that only...

^^ yep its too soon... thats the problem too...too much rushed. But i am glad they both are out of that mad house. coming weeks I am expecting more ruthless Advay...not sure the baby is there to stay :( Its hard to keep shooting with kids...

I am ok with Advay turning all ruthless...just hope Chandni shows some spirit ... atleast enough to show cold shoulder ...something that will challenge Advay...

PS: What should I call you 😊

hi.. i am sudha.. 😊 see i think the writers are struggling with finite series format also.. in a daily series format u can show say an earthworm/snail walking on the floor, its family background, its dreams/aspirations for a week without the viewers blinking an eye... but in a finite series of 1year its a difficult problem.. its too unwieldy.. 30/40 epis u can plan each epi.. in an unending series u dont need any planning... but here it has to be a finer balance so i am willing to cut them some slack!!

i think definitely chandni's true character will partly come out... it may or may not be sassy /bubbly/chirpy but it will happen in the next few weeks once she recovers a bit from the tamasha her life haas been for the past few weeks... and the cvs do need to write good scenes for her the way they are doing for advay and indrani! and they need a good track to do that baby or not.

Sudha I agree with all you said
Advay till now has no reason to even like Chandni
For him she has no redeeming feature yet
May be he will see her interact differently
Now that she is not in the haveli
May be he will notice how she behaves with Naani
That can be the start of change of his views on her
