Sush 🤗

Thank you for the link and thank you for sharing your mum's feedback with us. Very thought-provoking insights from her, indeed.

Unfortunately, the entertainment industry is fickle and there is no sure shot formula for success. If there was one, I bet most shows and movies would have been a hit, by far. 😆 Its more of a trial and error, for even the time tested production houses in the industry as they test new waters with each of their offerings. Which is why there will be shows that click instantly while some take time and some just dont, even though the content may or mayn't unique.

Imo, if we absolutely divide the viewers in three broad categories- consistent, non-consistent, or the ones with a recall value, there would be an interesting pattern to note. The viewers from the first category would always watch a set show for their own reasons, perhaps, an actor or a brand recall or just an availability of free time at that particular times, while the viewers from the second and the third categories are mostly inconsistent and at times, difficult to sway with the changing content in the show. And mostly, the makers and the channel, the concerned parties that is, would work towards solidifying the first category of the viewers while winning over the third category, who are more likely to come back to a show as against the second category viewers, even if they get diluted with the non-watchers in the beginning or somewhere in the middle.

So all I am saying is giving the makers and the channel a benefit of doubt, they seem to be tightening the loopholes, according to their experienced jurisdiction. And the show and the episodes seem to have got better with time. Infact, the writing which imo, has been the biggest challenge for them, seems to be taken care off, to an extent. And with the marriage promos doing the rounds, along with the various BTS bits, the numbers are bound to pick up. The rest everything will fall in place, sooner than later, hopefully. 😊

PS Off to the other posts. Better late than never.

PPS I was wondering why there are no collages from Shweta until I realised what this Sushpectives was all about. 😆

Sush, it's always a pleasure to read your posts...
I fall in the same category as your mom...feel the same way as she does hence have stopped watching the show... I find the story very insipid, the premises on which the show was/is based ( revenge theme ) lacks conviction... as a result the INTENSITY factor , which is the main ingredient of such a theme , is almost zero...so I am not surprised that the TRPs are dropping coz there must be many ppl like us who started watching it but gave up because it couldn't hold their interest.Another thing is that if one is a fan of any of the actors then they stick to the show ( I am talking in general ) irrespective of good or bad story but if that's not the case then they just loose patience after some time and give up...I feel this is what is happening with this show...

Is it any wonder that Gul got Barun shaved and groomed from the 3rd week. Right now the fanbase for this show is mostly online and international. And in India it is split and mostly Barun fans who are holding the show. The media's negativity might have also affected the audience general interest, plus the ban on BTS segments made it really hard for audience to even know what track is going on in the show.

This week onwards we are having lot of BTS segments and I hope that translates into audience tuning in for the show. And they have considerably toned down Advay's aggressiveness towards Chandni - The creatives are showing that it is Chandni who is falling for Advay now and also they showed PP as a total sleazebag so you have audience rooting for Advay - Chandni and not Chandni - PP. Gul once mentioned that they had to considerably tone down the darkness of Arnav because of TRPs. I would hate it to say but somehow I feel they are going to show Chandni as completely innocent here and only Indrani to be culprit who played both Dev's family and Chandni.

And now that Mikku is in the picture hopefully the family reunion of brothers will happen and both brothers trying to find each other and missing out couple of times - That would be a good twist.

In short what we on IF think and what audience in general wants are 2 different things.

@bold black: Please change it to Advay, to prevent another fan war and to keep with Sush's rules. Thank you.

No you got me wrong - I am talking about how Gul mentioned that she had to tone down the darkness of Arnav in Season 1 because SP didn't want that dark character for ML as audience might not accept it.

Now Gul is trying to push the darker theme here but here too I guess she has to tone down the darkness that is why Advay is clean shaven and beard is gone.

Guess audience are really not ready for a dark anti-hero. They want their heroes to be just romantic leads and do romance.

hmm...I always wonder about what goes on in trp audience's minds...so thanks for sharing this...my mother never paid much attention to or claimed much liking for season 1...of season 3 she has seen 2-3 episodes...she could only notice the clothes in the first ever episode she saw but when she saw one or two of these week's episodes she seemed to enjoy advay teasing chandni...so may be from yours and my mother's feedback we can conclude that generally people like light hearted stuff more...but I think everybody already knows that😆
I wonder if the fashion in the show is actually repulsive enough to substantially repulse the viewers...this probably can't be possible...but just something I wondered.

Honestly what I feel is that people are being too much judgemental...
If Chandni was a 6-7year old kid back then, Advay was also a kid of about 14-15 years and before judging his intentions as right or wrong people needs to place themselves in his position...what he has gone through when his father was killed just b4 his eyes with some wrong accusations and his mom being burnt alive as his closest friend Chandni's claimed that she have seen her flying ...People are complaining about if it is justified to take revenge for something which a child had told...just think that her one word had completely destroyed Advay's whole world and even his existence... He was ALSO A KID BACK THEN ...may be little grown up, but he was still a kid...
But still as a kid he is not completely blaming Chandni as he knows and have that little common sense ki many people are in this plotting game, and he needs to find them out, and for that he needs to be close to Chandni's family through Chandni...
Nothing complicated here...just people need to keep calm and understand the situation...like today they have showed other characters as well..
And the main thing had this been way round, Chandni seeking revenge from Advay people would have gone gaga over it...
Ok I should end it here...

advay was a kid then...he isn't one now...don't you think he should be shown to introspect at least once...didn't he for once think that chandni was a naive, bit outspoken kid back then?...in Raanjhana, zoya goes after kundan after his actions led to abhay deol's character's death...but the difference is that kundan was an adult who consciously did something and must have had some idea about what his actions would lead to...but chandni was a kid who believed in absolute truth and only seemed to answer whatever was asked and had no idea of the repurcussions.

Miku is an important link to Advay's past and as characters the two men are very different (from what we've seen). It will be interesting to see them cross paths more often because then we will hopefully get to see another side to Advay which is more than the calculative revenge seeker...Even if it is the disinterested participant of male camaraderie that we saw in earlier episodes. 😆
I personally like the Miku-Shikha subplot as it is a light-hearted foil to the intense Advay- Chandni pair. It remains to be seen how they will weave the first into the overall storyline.

I almost gave up watching the show after that episode. I watched it and the chai splash in utter disbelief and embarrassment even though I was all alone.

For me, the first week was a turn off. The clothes, the sets, the repeated flashbacks and the over the top drama and dialogues.

And the main plot is actually senseless. The girl was 8 years old when the whole thing happened. If he wanted revenge then, it could have been okay, because he was young as well and not as mature. But now, after so many years, it doesn't make sense.

And the makers need to remember that people who watch on TV, who contribute to TRP, the aunties like my mom - don't relate to things like flying cups, magnetic slippers, artificial rains, pigeons controlled by a remote etc.

Thank you all for sharing your views,...and thank you so much for making sure to stay respectful of everyone's views...Like I said...I didn't make this post to do TRP dissection ... but to just share a point of view and hear some other points of view...There is definitely some stuff in the show that can be much better...and some of those themes have come up again and again in the thread...

I want the show to succeed because it has a lot of good things that I personally enjoy watching...and it does not have many things that I don't enjoy watching...[Read Saas Bahu drama, Multiple marriages with different chracaters, some social message that makes it beyond preachy, Unexciting leads...etc etc] So I hope it has enough interest and stays is here to entertain us!

I think some of the major gripe some TRP and other viewers have, who want to watch...can be fixed...like for example...developing interesting characters other than the leads...and developing interesting interactions between characters other than just between the leads with each other...

As far as the story is concerned...my most favorite show of all time had no story and that was the brilliance of it! 😃
