TRPs? A Result Of Bad Marketing Decisions?

So, I just wrote a long explanation on the TRP discussion thread and later realized that this needs a separate topic of it's own. So here goes:

See, this is a case of pure business economics.
If this show has to do well, it needs a complete overhaul in terms of characters, plot devices, creative team, marketing team and especially costume design.
This is a clear example of poor marketing and strategy.
Firstly, if the marketing team have any idea about positioning, they really need to have a relook into what they have done.
This season was promoted as IPK3, leveraging on the existing brand of IPk and the team made sure that people connect it to IPK1 with the same actor, name, title, scenes, songs, music, etc and yet they did not sign the original female lead. SP n Gul did everything possible to generate recall value. The biggest mistake was that they were leveraging on Sobti's popularity as ASR from S1 to create a buzz for S3. The IB episode featuring Sobti was a very apparent example of the same.
The biggest irony is that, or should I call it stupidity, that instead of going for a new product, the makers went ahead with a skewed version of what is known as product development in marketing terms, and it backfired on them spectacularly because it was catered to the same customer base of 5 yrs ago.

Now there are several problems with that.
Of course the absence of Sanaya Irani is one of them and probably the most important out of them all, but you need to understand that IPK got over 5 yrs back. I was in school then, now i am about to finish my MBA and start a different journey altogether. Times change, political, social situations have changed, and so have sensibilities. That time, I was fresh out of DMG, Geet and now my generation hardly even watches TV bcoz of the regressive shit that desi tv produces plus the advent of Netflix, Prime, etc.

So, the target audience of this show had to be completely different. a new identity had to be craeted.
yes, they could have leveraged on the IPK brand, but it could have done it in a better way. Replicating scenes, using same character traits, roping in one actor and leaving out the other and making him do the same things he did with the other actor 6 yrs back is not going to work.
IPK3 is not a new show, it's a poor replication of everything that we've seen and loved before.
It's the RGV ki Aag to Ramesh Sippy's Sholay, if you get what I mean.

The targeting has to be done right for this show to work at the 8pm slot. Either it has to be a crisp revenge thriller/drama or it can be a saas bahu planning plotting show. it cannot be both because the audiences are entirely different. 24 and Sasural Simar Ka don't go together.
And neither does an insipid female lead, an aggressive and manhandling male lead, silly superstitions and dialogues like "betiyan woh gehna hai jisse andar rakhni chahiye" ( *MAJOR CRINGE ALERT*)when you are trying to make a show for the GenY youth.

Okay...good analysis on marketing
but I think you posted in wrong forum
This forum belongs to show which got 1.4 as trp in first week which is actually good for first week
A show or characters takes time to grow on audience...
I Am damn sure neither SP nor Gul or any fan with practical mind would have expected more than 1.5 trp in first week...

First of all, i wanna know how you deduced it backfired based on the trps.
Secondly, the show wasn't never promoted based on anything IPK1 related, in fact far from it. None of the promos resembled the prior show. Rehashing rabba ve is the only way they have been connecting back to IPK1. And the show didn't sign any of the other actors from the previous show too not only the ex FL. And no, her absence is no way affecting the show. In fact, its the opposite

And the genY is into Hotstar and online viewing platform. The target audience may not even be for urban youth based on the plot line as well.

And clearly we are watching two different shows if you think the traits of Advay and Arnav are the same. Oh dear me!

I see you've put up a analysis on the marketing strategy. But your aim of target is the newly released TRP. Which means you think that the TRP is low. Watching the frustration that you have experienced due to absence of original lead, I can safely claim that this is your disappointment speaking. I have never seen you with a positive post, but given that I am very active in this forum it is again safe to say there's chance that my eye sight is not weak. You say you are about to complete your MBA soon. From the orientation of the post I assume you are very good in the academics. So I predict you are going to apply for a job under 4 Lions marketing department.
Hell with the Sherlock that I could not pull, but you should surely application for that job. Help the show rise the charts, won't you?

TRP is the main performance parameter, isn't it? Since clearly,no other, including overseas and online views count in the industry. So, I guess my deduction is just right
For the sake of the show, I hope it picks up in the future.

You got one thing right, though. Yes, i am disappointed but unfortunately for 95% of the people here, I don't base my judgement on a show or take decisions based on a certain actor.
I started watching it because it was brand IPK that it was promoted as. They might not have used the "nafrat, mohabbat" line, but damn it fits right into the mould, and so does the look, feel, the similarity in scenes, etc etc.
As for making posts go, well I don't see why you are so butthurt over what I say. The criticism isn't directed at you in the first place and secondly, I have made exactly 3 posts or so here. I'm flattered to see u stalking me.

And thanks for the career advice, I get a lot of redundant advice these days, but I think I'll give it a pass. Desi TV, underpaid, overworked and no autonomy are not my thing.
TaDa!

I am not a seer, I am not determining the fate of the show.
Everything changes in the blink of an eye and deciphering consumption patterns are not a piece of cake for anybody.
This was just an attempt to reason out the cause behind the present situation. hope I made that clear.

It's an opinion on IPK3.
I think I posted in the right place.

Spot on... what i was trying to tell. The Show sure got loads of piublicity. Some are upset about negative publicity but that is also good at promoting the show. Look at Big Boss or for Ipk3 it generated sympathy.
However this show is at the 8ish slot... that is full of saaz bahu shows.. and this one is lost in the crowd. Not pulling in Sanaya when the show is an ipk rehash was a mistake ... however no one knows if that might have made things any more easier... or maybe it might have changed things.
