What an unsatisfying denouement! In the deepest recess of my heart I had hoped that the current sorry state of the show can be somewhat salvaged by a bombastic exposure of the swapped bride. But all I got is a child bride still flapping her hands.
But I liked Nakuul Mehta today and liked the trip and look lock scene with fairy lights, especially the lighting.
To start with, the bimbos occupied 3 minutes of screen space demanding 'nayke'.Post that Shivaay enters his room to negotiate and plan with Sonya. Before I go the exposure, let me first comment on the decor. The classy city skyline wallpaper has been replaced by a greyish one with bird cage print---looks nice BUT why that huge picture of Shivaansh on the bed head? Isn't is too narcissistic and crass? The poolside too got renovated and someone hanged a chandelier too close to the floor!!
Mannat tries to escape but PN sends her to her room. She still had that 10 feet ghunghaat which made my fingers itchy to remove it.I am a viewer and irritated by it but everybody in Oberoi household doesn't question why a girl like Sonya who always demands attention and is conscious about her looks, has become docile and is hiding her face from everyone!
By the poolside Shivaansh lifts the veil and is flummoxed to find his bete noire Mannat in place of Sonya. The next scene with that chandelier swinging was troll worthy! I mean who hangs chandeliers near the floor and what was that scene conveying? I am a little dense about these symbolisms,so someone please throw some light.
The scene of confrontation could have been lifted to the heights but alas! it needs an actress of high caliber to do so and mere making a crying facies with same expressions which we have being seen for three weeks makes it passe. Nakuul Mehta was good today but he did not get a good reflecting board complimenting his thespian skills.
What followed next was disaster in terms of script.PN arrives and nonchalantly accepts Mannat. No one finds any objective evidence of Sonya's absence and only believes what lies Varun fed them.I mean, just few hours ago they were welcoming Sonya as the bride of Shivaansh and now that she is missing,
nobody even thinks of her well being or actual condition and goes on to accept Mannat as fulfilment of their 'Mannat'. Very shallow people!
My question comes next : Varun wants Shivaansh's money.Shivaansh's will states that his estate will go to his wife after his death. Now Varun gets Mannat married to Shivaansh but creates misunderstandings between them.So what is the purpose? If Shivaansh hates his wife he can jolly well change the will, disinherit his wife Mannat and leave everything for charity! On the other hand, good relations between husband and wife could have served his purpose better but I think the 'jalebi' is not in my capability to decipher. That needs Harneet esque grey matter.😕
The ring exchange scene had both Mannat and Shivaansh smiling for a second or two--- gave me some kind of premonition that after, say 100 episodes,Ms Singh may bring that twist in plot declaring that all this bride swap and hate was planned by ShAt because they were aware that Varun was the villain! Plot within a plot! 😉
The last scene of falling on the bed with tangling of fairy lights was done well by Nakuul Mehta who today put some effort trying to break that nuance of boredom he has projected in Dhinchaak Ishqbaaz but sadly again it was not matched by his co star.
My suggestion: Besides the diction tutor, someone is needed to teach how to show angst,
anger, sorrow,disillusionment,
love and that when you act you must learn to use your hands properly and when NOT to use hands in a scene. Some basic course on how to not induce boredom in the viewer but how to keep them entertained and make them appreciative of the acting skills is the necessity of the hour in the sets of Ishqbaaz-Pyaar ki ek Dhinchaak kahaani.
